The only place where I really disagree with you Foster is that Valentine and Peter were "even more awesome." Only in Ender's own mind were his siblings ever superior to him. But really he was almost a perfect amalgamation of the two, except even better.

    I can contest that

If you have created a character in your mind, regardless of whatever inspirations you used, so long as you did not directly copy any material of any sort, that is an original character because YOU SPECIFICALLY made it

Ender is pretty fantastic, but Peter and Valentine were both pretty awesome as well. I might go as far as saying they were more interesting than Ender. At least, in Ender's Game.

Well, Peter controled an entire Army of Ender Wiggin clones, and was Polemarch of the world by the time news of Ender's exploits reached home.

Valentine was somewhat less obviously epic, since she was far more passive; preffering to 'support'... But then when you look at what happens when she got to convincing someone... She started the civil-war that made Peter king... And she didn't even have to volunteer as tribute...
-The IRL context, is some girl in the Han district of China, starting some sort of successful communist-revolution with only the internet.
"Just drive down that road, until you get blown up [by shells]"
    - General George Patton

"After several men of the company had been blown up by shells, I noticed that a spirit of uneasiness became dominant."

I've always thought Valentine was the strongest of the three.
