Dating Sim-like game inside a Virtual Reality MMORPG, anyone?

The earth is barren, the future is bleak but there is hope for even if life can no longer be in our ancestral home, it can thrive inside mechanically engineered worlds. Salvation, this world is called as out minds slowly merge with pre-made NPCs to make us stronger and more able to survive in a wondrous and terrible new world full of monsters and adventures, traps and opportunities. Tonight is the grand opening of this new world and you find yourself set out to a long life of choices, risks and adventure entwined with romance and, sometimes, horror.

Your humanity will be forfeited tonight, your mind made into an AI and your actions carefully calculated by the loving embrace of God, the hard-drive of Salvation. You will meet, fight, love and even die here, so please make it your home. Provided by a small plot of land with room for enhancement, you will start as a Beggar, the lowest state of being in Salvation, where millions of paths will open to you as you progress. Please get to know the world and beings around you for their will either help you or hinder your progress given their feelings for you and your knowledge of them. You will be provided for here until you reach a sufficient level of skills and possess enough contacts and wealth to go on in the world. Will you choose the path of the Warrior, the Mage, The Rogue, the Merchant, the Craftsman or the Politician?

So here you got my basic plot, I'm here to answer any questions you may have, so don't hesitate! This will be in thread, as I find theme easier to look back upon than emails or PM.

Would you prefer the world to be fantastical, modern or futuristic? I will craft it to your taste to the best of my capabilities !

So this RP will have traces of Persona-like social simulation, MMORPG-like dynamics and even a Matrix-like alternate reality.

I find this idea is rather intriguing. I am up for trying something like this with you, if you would like. But how would character progression be determined? How would my character advance? At first,, I understand that I would get human living in a modern day world and have willingly subjected myself to become part of this virtual reality world... IAM just trying to picture the different meshing of games you mentioned.

Would this just be my character trying to go through different challenges? Or would we both have characters to go through and try to progress together?

Ha ha, I guess I have a lot of questions. But that's okay. I have a lot of interest. Just let me know.

Also, if I had a choice, I think a fantasy setting sounds like it could be the most fun.

As for advancement, I would give you some goals to get to another title, easy at first but getting progressively more difficult.

I would make some NPC like ones you would see in those types of games, they would be there for quests as well as for friendlier reason, each having rewards to get to know them better. In fact, I'm thinking of using them for stats, if it's alright with you?

The RP would start on the last day in the 'real world' where your character would prepare. You will then have the choice to merge with one NPC in a set I will present to you, making that NPC your 'body', so to speak.
