Inception: The Vault
These jobs are usually simple. Get in, drug the CEO , maybe distract them with a forger or something. But right from the beginning of this one there were problems. Ordinarily I have my team double up on their skills. Redundancy is usually helpful. But when a partner screws up things go south quickly unless you keep your cool.
Anton was supposed to be good. My informer checked his cedentials as a chemist and forger. Everything checked out. But when we began to discuss how to approach the target inconsistencies arrose. First on the singular dream my informant woke up early. We proceeded anyway. We were close. I got in the building with Anton keeping watch. But the target wasn't there. Instead I observed something disturbing. The architect for a previously unfinished job was being released from parole. The news was troubling at the least. I turned the screen off and began to leave when Anton came to me sweating bullets.
"We gotta go."
"Whad you do?"
"Something is wr-" a gun rang out and anton dropped. I looked up from him to see a guard who seemed angry as hell so I began to run.
The next thing I know I'm bursting outside. A cab pulls up and jump in.
"Step on it." And were off away from that guard.

I smell salt in the air. Waves crashed around me. My feet dipped into the sand leaving prints behind me. It felt good to have the sun on my face. I take a deep breath and there's a guard at my cell door. How long have I been locked away? Three years? The marks on my wall seem to indicate as much but I don't remember doing them. My hairs a big disheveled.
" Prisioner 52631822-7283 you have a visitor turn around hands at your back and place your hands through the door slot." I do as he says. I don't remember having a visitor before. Snap. I feel the cold steel of the cuffs clasp around my wrists. POP my cell door opens. I turn around and exit. "Stay in a straight line proceed down the hall your to enter visitor door 1. As you know video and audio is recorded. Personally I don't think you committed your crime but none the less your here so let's go." We are told to keep our heads low and I follow a red line on the ground. My cell was seperate a from other prisoners so I've seen little but guards or janitors. They say its cause I'd be too big an influence on others. I suppose it could be true.we come to the door. My cuffs are removed and the doors held open for me. A man is standing in a business suit facing a window. He dosent turn until I sit down my hands clasped in front of me on the table. He turns. Alexander King the man who says I tried to trap him in Limbo through an illegal dream invasion to take over his company, he's my visitor. A smile crosses his face as he sits. " I know your angry, and have lots if questions but for now hear me out." I lean back and cross my arms over my chest.
He ruffles some papers at his side then speaks. " Some years ago, you were convicted of corporate espionage, conspiracy, attempted murder and theft. You pled not guilty even though PASIV machines were found in your home and the dream set up was your design that had not hit the streets. Our company has sold this tech for some time now and found a small tamper on the device used, on me. In lue of this new evidence and the fact you don't possess the knowledge of the tech involved for the lengthening of said chemical agents charges are dropped. However that means the culprit is still at large . If you want to regain your street cred as the best help us capture him. You'll have the corporations resources at your whim and a team has already been picked to meet you at a party I'm hosting later this evening. Our hopes are he will take the bait. If you agree to the new evideance as true and to take the job sign these papers." He took a drink of water and awaited my response.
"I thought about a lot of things to say to you, should our paths ever cross again. However the only thing right now is where do I sign?" I picked up the pen and he pointed to a dotted line.

I'm sitting in a room now, full of people simply talking about unimportant bull shit. To my left there is a woman wearing pink and infront of me is a young man doing simple calculus. I'm sipping on a cup of coffee specifically brewed. The woman in pink is speaking Italian, some of which I cannot follow. The last job could not have gone any worse. Not only did I not get the target, I lost my chief alchemist. This particular job did not require a forger, but due to the nature of the screw up my researcher can no longer be trusted. Maybe it's time to get out of the game--except that one guy, just released.
There is a vibration in my coat pocket.
"Hello? Yes, I saw the news. What do we do about it? I understand, the job wasnt finished. The stock was double you say? Ok, but the rate is double on this one. For the added danger. Transfer it to the usual places. Yeah, I'll have to find a better group. Alright. Good bye."
I sip my coffee again and .
[ooc: post is unfinished because I need my forger to at least post a bio]

The court room was packed. My papers signed I stood in a black suit. My hair even brushed looked wind swept but I was able to hold my head high. King was on the stand and my public defendant stood to my right. Behind the judge proceeding over the release there was a great seal of a state I didn't recognize. I took a sip of water wondering how long this would take.
"So your honor due to the new evidence all charges are being dropped and he is offered a new job to help reinstate him into society." King spoke with an air of authority even though he had none in the court room. It was most likely due to his business experiences. He stepped off the stand and took a seat next to his lawyer. The judge looked over some documents and then at me. My name was spoken and I was asked to step forward.
"Mr." She began stating my name. " due to the number if years served and your good behavior this State here by overturns your sentence baring your legal arrangement with Mr. King and the new evidence brought into light. This also means you will not be on parole or any other legal supervision. A grant of compensation to the amount of 5,000 shall be awarded to you as we'll as an additional 5,000 from Mr. Kings accounting due to his remorse if this situation. By the power invested in by this state you are here by released from custody. Good luck collect your belongings and checks on your way out."
I turned and shook my lawyers hand. " outside its a media frenzy Mr. King has offered you a ride to a nearby hotel to his estate. After that you'll be given instructions to his estate, he didn't tell me way but said keep your phone by you." The court attendant waved his arm towards a door I was to take to get my belongings while everyone exited the court house.
The attendent want led me to a small service counter where my belongings were in a tray. " please account for your property and sign these release papers." I had a few things, watch wallet cell phone and a bullet. That bullet was my totem being that it was handled by another I'd have to change it somehow.

Birth of Indignation
I look up from my coffee and there is a man who is talking across the way in a very angry voice to his cell phone.
"No, I dont want the shipment of chemicals to be shipped there. Have them dropped at my office in the back."
He seems to be some kind of chemist. Then he notices me looking at him. I look quietly at my cup which is empty.
"Is there a problem?" He asks me.
"No, I just happened to overhear your conversation." I place the coffee cup down and look at my briefcase. "Whats your line of work?"
"I dont think that it's any of your business."
"Judging from your last few words, I'd say that you are a chemist of some sort?"
"Lucky guess."
"My name is Mr. Maitre...Pierre Meitre."
"Craig Voble." we are chasking hands and I notice that his is a little firm. "What do you do?" he asks.
"I'm a specialist of sorts. I'm what you call a muck raker. I expose the truth about different people."
"Like a psychologist?"
"You could say that. You want anything to drink?"
"I was just thinking." I snap my fingers and a woman comes over. I whisper something into her ear and she nods. "You a local to this place?"
"I come here often enough." The woman walks over to Craig and hands him a cup of tea. He looks at it approvingly.
"Listen, recently I've hit a little snag with my last associate and we have had to go seperate ways. The work that I do requires someone who knows his way around a compound."
"Well what are we talkiong about here?"
"Sleeping agents, something that eliminates suggestiveness but is sustainable."
"Something like that requires a lot of work. It's extremely complex."
"Do you know someone who can do it?" He leans in close to me as I look into his face.
"I can...but how much-"
"We dont have long Mr. Voble. You will be paid when this job is finished."
"Alright. When do we start?"
"Soon. I need to make a few more contacts and we'll begin. You have a business card?"
He pulls one out of his coat and hands it to me. I shake his hand again. "Good, I'll call you when it's time. Goodbye Mr. Voble." He smiles questioningly and leaves the room.
Suddenly I feel my phone vibrate and answer it.
"Hello?"
"Maitre. Knotts here."
"Hello Knotts. What can I do for you?"
"I have a friend who needs some work. I thought you might be able to give him something."
"What can he do?"
"She. I'm sending her to meet you at the usual place. mid day. Tomorrow."
"Very well. I'll let you know what I can do for her." We say goodbye and I hang up the phone.

As I neared the door my lawyer approached me. I heaved a small sigh of relief. It had been a long struggle but I'd made it. My lawyer patted me on the back, outside I could hear the crowd of reporters each waiting to get the best story or picture. I still wasn't sure if I'd give a speech I'd play it by ear. "Mr. King will be outside waiting for you. He has a statement to make." Well so much for the silent approach.
The fresh air hit me like a wave. Most inmates say the air inside is different now I know what they mean. Dozens of people shouting my name flashes from cameras microphones everywhere. I could see why famous people hid. It was another kind of trapping. King gave an official apology on record but I declined to comment. A silver limo pulled up and we pushed our way through the crowds. Once the doors were closed the outside commotion was drowned out. The car smelled like tobacco and soon a pipe was lit. A brief case was placed onto my lap. "Open it and the pass code is Cain." I opened the briefcase and the laptop inside as soon as the code was entered a screen appeared. " his name us Pierre Maitre, sconces say he is responsible for your set up."

Birth of Indignation
Night. As a boy I used to look at the stars, but lately I never really noticed them. Too busy. The time is that usual time I would meet my contacts on the third floor of a library. I check my watch. Turning to my companion I look at her with a small smirk.
"How long would you say we've been here?"
"I dont know. I cant recall."
"Seems like...not long. But you and I met at noon."
"I remember."
"So you were saying Ms. Vally?"
"What?" She says matter-of-factly.
"Exactly."
"So you mean?"
"Yes."
"I'd heard things like this could happen."
"Do you know why Im showing you this?"
"I...asked for a job, I think."
"You said that you were good at interpretations."
"No, I said that I worked as an interpreter."
"Even so. This is a test if you will. Knotts said that you went to school for psychology. Why?"
"I like to focus on mental constructs and help people to change them, to rearrange their thinking for positive results."
"And knotts thought you might be able to help me. How so?"
"I'm not sure."
"Where are we?"
"At the library in MIT?"
"Because of a few books?" I turn to look at an bookshelf.
"It's not?"
I look at her plaintifly.
"So, what are you willing to do for her?" she hands me a book.
"This book is blank."

Birth of Indignation
After some long thought on the little suggestions she gave me I had given her a very nice job on my staff. She was a programmer of excellent par and I could not pass the job up. So far I was only down one new team member. But where was I to find a forger? I wonder, do I need one. I decided less people would be less dangerous. A chemical engineer and a programmer. One so skilled. The team seemed to be assembled quite well. All that I needed now was an opportunity.

After reading through the info we arrived at my apartment. I was handed a Visa to use that was said it belonged to a false identity. I watched as the car drove away. I took a flight of stairs two at a time and entered my room. It was not a lavish place at all. I set my coat up and opened the laptop. It showed the location of this "party." It was only a few hours away.
