    WOTM #23 Theme Choice

This thread exists so that you, the participants of WOTM, can vote for what theme you'd like us, the WOTM staff, to use next contest. This way, we can only use themes that please as many WOTM participants as possible. The poll is multi-choice, so if you like more than one theme, you're welcome to say so. Also, themes that do not win this vote will likely be given another chance in future polls.

    Happy voting!

    Theme Choices:

    Theme: Water
Explained: The main focus of the entry is water, be it metaphorical or literal.
    Components:
    • The main character of the story or poem is water, or the water is otherwise sentient.
    • The main character is a creature that lives in or around water (ie: a fish, whale, etc).
    • Water is portrayed in a metaphorical sense.
    • Water is used as a tool in an unusual way.
    • The water in the story is unavailable, undrinkable or unusable for whatever reason (polluted, salty, etc).

    Theme: Death
Explained: A story where the main focus is death, in any fashion.
    Components:
    • The death in the story is metaphorical rather than literal.
    • The entry is a poem or contains poetry.
    • The protagonist is death, or death is otherwise personified in the story.
    • The story involves life-after-death in some way (afterlife, resurrection, etc).
    • The story involves immortality.

    Theme: Time
Explained: A story that involves time or time travel.
    Components:
    • The main character finds someone/something from his/her past.
    • The story involves time manipulation (pausing, reversing, etc).
    • The story involves a historical figure.
    • The story involves an individual knowing the future.
    • The story involves time travel gone wrong.

This thread will be left open, and for good reason! Please don't hesitate to comment on the themes themselves or general setup of this (still new, and subject to change) WOTM feature.

I like both the Ideas of Death and time. So those are the ones I've naturally voted on. I believe I can create some interesting things with Either/or of these themes.

Thank you Mtntopview and Clirkus for drawing me these...I like this set and think it's fitting.

Time I can have a lot of fun with. And I suggested it, so...

I have a Graphics Shop now. Graphics Shops are cool.
I run a roleplaying site too!

Why is Time italicized in the poll results and Water and Death are not? Just curious. If it was subliminal it totally worked. I voted for time. Baaa

I don't believe you can actually use formatting like that in poll listings. Items of a poll that you vote for become italicized in the results view, so that's why you see it in italics.

Did you know we have a Writer of the Month contest? Come join it.
WOTM #26: Evil Wins is open and accepting entries through June 4th.

I voted for both time and death. It could be something that can be done together.

I voted for water and time, because death has two vowels that are touching eachother.

How come Death was never a theme before? That's weird.. I'll go for that. It should have been a theme long ago. oO
All I ever lead to is chaos.

If, after we have recognized intuitively a number of simple truths, we wish to draw any inference from them, it is useful to run them over in a continuous and uninterrupted act of thought, to reflect upon their relations to one another, and to grasp together distinctly a number of these propositions so far as is possible at the same time. For this is a way of making our knowledge much more certain, and of greatly increasing the power of the mind.

We ought to give the whole of our attention to the most insignificant and most easily mastered facts, and remain a long time in contemplation of them until we are accustomed to behold the truth clearly and distinctly.

The Meditator reasons that he need only find some reason to doubt his present opinions in order to prompt him to seek sturdier foundations for his knowledge. Rather than doubt every one of his opinions individually, he reasons that he might cast them all into doubt if he can doubt the foundations and basic principles upon which his opinions are founded.

This component is ridiculous. After all, humans are essentially ugly bags of water. 70% and all that.

    ... XD

Time is italicized to show that you voted for time, dearie~

I voted for water. We've already have had plenty of death without needing the centerpiece of the thing being death, and time just... um... doesn't attract me. On the other hand, we've already had a "Fire" theme. I am curious what kind of contrast to those entries it would become if we took the water-element now~
