    Looking for an RP Teacher!

    Hey all-

Since I have just recently started role-playing, I have some concerns about how I write and what to write. I need help to learn more on how to roleplay, so if there is someone out there that is willing to teach me for free (sorry, I would give you something if I could), I would be delighted. PM me if you are interested.

    Thanks,
    Phaeton

I'm going to move this to Role Playing Discussion and point you to the Staff list. If you look at the list of Comrades you will see that any of them are available for this kind of help. Though I am sure you will get some offers from some of our wonderfully talented users as well.

Thank you And sorry about putting it in the wrong forum, I was thinking of which I should put it in, but thought this was more reasonable since the roleplay one seemed like it was about roleplays that were going on. Sorry-

Explain everything as though it were new to them.

Prompt yourself with those silly questions like whatever color the room is and how it blends or clashes with your other surroundings.

Is your character tired? In what way?

Screw that. You need to find a roleplayer that really captures your attention; their style of writing, the way they approach roleplaying and storytelling, character creation.

Make it more natural, seek your own teacher and any wisdom they share will doubtlessly mean more.

This is great advice. There are so many ways people Role Play that approaching someone whose work appeals to you is more likely to get you what you want. Also just seeking out RPs with people whom you admire will help and let them know in the OOC that you want pointers.

The best way to get better is to just RP and that's not exactly a hardship.

I guess if you want to learn something about role playing from a technical aspect you could ask me. I'm (in)famous for it.

If you want to know role playing from a more personal, emotionally provocative point of view though, the only person you can talk to and learn about that from is yourself. I'm not even going to try and pen your emotional motivations for you. It would be inappropriate of me to do so. Still.

Ask questions. If you're curious at ALL about ANYTHING, ask questions about things. Even if the answers don't mean much of anything, you'll at least learn what not to do.
