Customizable Profile Pages

These are a couple profiles over on Fourms.ffshrine.org. An awesome site I'm proud to be part of. FFshrine uses the exact same engine that RPG uses, down to the layout and mechanics. The difference between FFShrine and RPG (Beyond the obvious and no profile picture) is the fact that there is no Customizable Profile page.

Wouldn't it be cool if that was turned on? I'm pretty sure it's just a switch you flip on, unless I'm missing something. If somebody doesn't want to see customizations, they can click the button "Hide user customizations" and it would default back to basic. (It would be where "Customize My Profile" is on my profile page's picture. It would be just a itty bitty thing for the people to jazz things up with.

Well when I saw the thread title I was gonna say that I didn't think it was possible with the forum software, but you pointed out another site that does it.

Then I was thinking that it could bog down some people's browsers or just plain annoy people, but then you said people could turn it off like they can turn off signatures and such.

So really I see no reason not to at this point, but it's still completely up to administration whether it's put in or not.

I don't think it would "tax" out the server, but some might complain on the images and colors people would choose for their background and color choices of their profile. I would love if we had it here, but not sure if the higher-ups would be up for it. :/

As mentioned, it would be possible to turn off any customizations that, say, make someone's eyes bleed. And I'm sure anything inappropriate would be worth an infraction.

If this was possible, I would be all for it. Or, at least have a month-long trial period so we can see if it does much to the servers at all. I think it would be worth looking into.
