I wouldn't message a mod. Not only do they really have no power over it but it's also probably better to not pester them. All we can really do is maybe attempt to summon Contra Fates by saying her name and see what happens.

As far as I know, VB does indeed allow for it, though there could be several factors in which we might not have it... including Plugin issues, File Issues, and Custom Template issues, which would need to be edited to allow for the customization. I have no idea how Contra and Mahz has any of those set up, so I couldn't say. Then after that, of course... it would be their decision to flip the switch and turn it on. Whether they see fit to doing that or not, totally up to them. xD I can only assume that even if they do flip the switch, they'd need to be around enough to catch and work on any template issues that might arise. So, it could take some time on their parts.

Confirming what Guru said. VBulletin does actually allow for that stuff. However, there's quite of interfacing involved, and so would take up a lot of bandwidth and storage. More importantly, it would be very difficult to moderate every profile page, because there is going to be that one guy who puts a lot of nasty stuff up. Sure, mods can see inappropriate signatures, but profile pics would be harder to keep any sort of track of. I'm pretty sure that an entire moderation team dedicated solely to moderating ONLY profiles would create a little hardship for people. (After all, this IS a pretty darn big forum, with lots of posters.)

It's hard for mods to moderate the entire forum in general. That's what the report button is for- so they don't have to police the forum like that. They respond to reports.

I honestly think this would be too much of a hassle in general.

I don't we need to fuss over a profile's appearance on a Roleplaying site IMO. People have signatures and avatars for personalization and unless you need to VM someone, no one usually checks one another's profile too often to even notice a change in layour.

I'm really not sure why Mahz had disabled the option, but I don't see the harm in letting users customize their profiles. It may change if it has an adverse effect on the server, but so far everything looks dandy.

I was totally mistaken, I see.

Now that I see it in the works, I can imagine how cool this could be for users. I guess seeing it in action has changed my mind. Thanks Contra!
