I downloaded all 5 seasons of Primeval. I wanted to watch the US version, but I felt it would be more respectful to watch the original first. And I love it, but now I'm mad and I want to kill the writers.

He wasn't just a main character, he was the main character. It's like killing off Sherlock Holmes (.....bad example, but also he wasn't really dead).
Doesn't matter, tragedies are as old as the theatric tradition itself. Killing of the main character is nothing new, nothing strange and fully within the proper order of things. If anything, it cements the "nobody is safe" rule better then anything else. I say you should suck it up and remember the good times then cry and eat ben and jerrys. <3

misfits did it with 2 main characters, and it was awful. Really the lowpoint for a terrible 3rd season, but a very efficient way to destroy the show.

Yes, just consider the show finished after season 2. The christmas special is passable but ehh.
In all honesty you might like it in season 3. My friends did. But I absolutely hated it, and I was all over its dick prior to season 3. Talking about a level of obsession approaching some of the sherlock/dr. who stans here in spam.
