    The Hunt

Lucas' Dark Passenger was controlling his actions now. His body acting on its own. He was having really hard time trying to accept what had happened to him. He couldn't be a werewolf! Those weren't real! Yet here he was, trpped in his own body and being taken over by some kind of monster almost every day! The wolf meanwhile seemed to be unawhere of his human's plight. Instead, he and his pack were enjoying the time in their wolf form. He knew each of them very well. Alpha was the one that found and woke them up. He was grey furred, muscular in his forms and didn't like it when the other members of the pack acted differently. Alpha Female was a red furred wolf. Thin like himself, but she had some muscles as well. She almost never acted differently. He also had the suspicion that she and Alpha were going to have pups eventually. Alpha female was smelling a little different, but she pushed him away as he tried to investigate.

Beta male meanwhile was tough. He wasn't all that quick, but he could take a lot of attacks and typically only needed one hit to kill his prey. Most humans fell under one hit. Deer typically fell in two hits which was good when they were able to plan out things. Chasing the deer straight to his open jaws. Beta Female was another attractive wolf, but the yellow furred wolf was firmly with Beta. Her lack of strength betrayed her nearly supernatural agility and speed. None in the pack could even hope to keep up with her. In fact, often times she went into the trees and lept down on the prey. The tactic made Alpha not like her to much, but she was simply so effective at it that it was accepted, albiet grudgingly.

There were two other Omegas that had survived. Him and Black Omega. Black Omega was a dark furred wolf who often slipped and acted differently, bringing the wrath of the alpha down onto himself. Still, he defended Black Omega when the wrath came down. He was like that when the others acted differently though... He still wasn't sure why. Not that it mattered.

As the other wolves woke up, he yawned. Mist forming in the air from the temprature. Being responsible for keeping the pack together along with Black Omega, he relaxed that no one seemed to want to try, and win, at bullying him. Right now though, he sniffed the ground to search for any new prey trails. The pack had been hungry for a while as they followed the path of some deer. The trial was stronger here, but there were also some wolves here and... something he didn't recognize one bit.

Seeing that the others were awake, he let out a long howl. The others joined in, identifying their numbers then waited for another howl to inform them if this was already taken territory. They didn't hear anything thankfully so that must have meant this was an old trail of a wolf just passing through. With that taken care of, the pack began hunting for deer.

A faint howl in a far distance made his skin crawl with unease. It reminded him too much of a past he'd rather forget. However, the wild beast inside him seemed to grow agitated, eager to investigate and prowl along the land. With a deep breath, he tried to placate his inner wolf with the thoughts on finding food and actually not having to hunt for once. Over the years he had been on the run, he had gotten used to waking up to the smell of blood in his mouth, leftover fur clinging between his teeth and the stench of raw fish in his breath. Despite that, he still feared for the head count of any unfortunate humans on his path. For now, the thought of easy meal seemed to entice his inner wolf and gave him a short space of mental peace, allowing him to continue on his on-foot trek.

It's been a while since Gareth had even thought of approaching any place crowded with humans. It was, often times, a magnet for a bloody disaster and he would have to spent a good amount of time just trying to keep himself from caving in to the wild instincts. However, he had a different reason this time. There had been rumors flying about a place called Ivailo's Bar and Grill. It was known for some of the best game meat dishes around the small town of Shelburne, Ontario, and for being a rumored hiding place of secrets. No one rumors specify what these dark secrets were. Some said of the eatery owners being drug dealers, others of them being black magic practitioners. One rumor stood out to his interest. It was said that the Ivailos get their fresh games because they were werewolves and hunt their own meat. Normally, Gareth would simply dismiss this claims and tell the teller that they had been reading too many teen novels. However, being one of the so-called 'wild animal on two legs' himself, he couldn't say much about it.

Arriving at the location at the late point of morning, he noticed some people mingling about, patrons enjoying some meal and workers serving around plates of grilled meat. The scent quickly excited his inner wolf and it started to pester him about eating. Dressed in something close to rags and looking like the homeless man he was, Gareth wondered if he should be anywhere near a civilized establishment, but his hunger won over his fears and doubts. The brunette man carefully entered the place, hoping not to bump into any troubles.

Groaning Liz opened her eyes and pushed herself up slightly. Looking around she saw that she was in the forest. Her mouth very dry, the metallic taste of blood lingering. She swallowed hard and sat up properly. Rubbing her eyes she heard the jingling of chains. Looking down she saw the shackles and a couple of links. Her eyes grew wide. “Shit!” She exclaimed under her breath. When she noticed the blood all over her hands and body her eyes grew wider as she bit her lip. She started shaking her head and muttering as she stood up. “No, no, no, no...” She muttered as she looked around on the ground trying to spot any corpses. Hearing a chuckle she looked back over her shoulder slightly afraid.

“Chaining yourself up like that is only going to make things worse.” Spoke a strong, firm but also friendly voice. Andrei stepped closer to Elizabeth and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry, we made sure you didn’t do anything...although I must admit you put up quite the fight.” He chuckled. “Got me pretty good.” The smirk remained on his face.

“I...I’m sorry Andrei...I’m trying...I really am, it’s just so hard to resist...” Elizabeth spoke sincerely as she met the Alpha’s eyes. There was some more shuffling in the distance as Sasha stepped out of the bushes as well. They were both already dressed and ready to get to the bar. Liz wasn’t too sure who was working but breakfast had already started and they had to get to work.

“I brought some of your clothes over for you. I knew you were gonna get out so I thought I’d make things easier. Go home wash off and head to the pub as soon as you can alright.” Andrei stated more than asking.

Liz nodded and started getting dressed. Sasha stepped up to her and hugged her tightly. “You are doing great honey, don’t worry. We’ll see ya soon.” Sasha smiled brightly which also caused Liz to smile before the two Alphas continued their rounds, making sure everyone was okay. Elizabeth got dressed but couldn’t help but look around some more, she didn’t want them to be lying to her just to make her feel better. Not being able to find anything she shrugged with a sad smirk and started making her way home to wash up and get ready for work.

She was scheduled to start at 10 am. Right before the lunch rush. Putting her work clothes on she made her way down to the bar. Her usual routine took place. Writing down the specials of the day she eventually also figured out the soups and soon was waiting for her first table. The door chimed open, Elizabeth smiled, the smirk soon fading as she saw the man who stood at the door. Quickly making her way to the...haggard young man she raised an eyebrow. “Hi, how can I help you?” She asked. Meeting his eyes. The young man smelled of nature and wolf. The scent of blood soon entering her nose. Clenching her jaw Liz took a deep breath, her stomach turning at the thought of the thick crimson liquid. Doing her best to calm herself she looked up at the young man’s eyes, hers fading back to her natural blue-grey from a wolfish amber.

Hearing footsteps from behind she felt a soothing familiar presence as Sasha stepped up and placed a hand on her shoulder. “I’m sure this young man is very hungry Liz, why don’t you let me take care of him.” The older woman smiled as her brown eyes met the blonde’s. Liz smirked and stepped away.
Whether you like it or not, you're in the middle of a war that has been raging for the better part of a thousand years. A blood feud between vampires and lycans. Werewolves.

Her eyes had opened to reveal the forest around her. Kate looked around, the smell of blood lingered in the air. She stood up and walked over to the base of a tall oak tree and reached inside a hollowed out hole, pulling out a change of clothes. She quickly got dressed and began to head back towards the bar, and as she did so she passed by the area where Liz had been chained from the night before. Kate could see the blood on the ground and around the area, and then she checked herself. All she could see was the dirt that covered her body from lying on the forest floor. Kate vaguely remembered the previous night in her wolf body, but her human senses had been overrun by the lycan instincts. She decided it was not worth the headache to try and remember, so she began to head back to get cleaned up and ready for work.

After a short shower, she dried herself and her hair. A few minutes later, she had her hair fixed and her work clothes on, and was ready to head downstairs to start her shift. Kate made her way down to the bar and clocked herself in, then grabbed her apron and ticket pad, along with her pen. She usually liked to work behind the bar counter, she was quite the bartender. But at this hour, not many came in for drinks. So, she grabbed a pen and pad and began waiting on her section of tables. It was a clear day outside, which meant Ivailo's was going to get quite a bit of business today, though the bar and grill was already a popular spot.

Kate took care of two customers, writing down their orders and delivering the ticket to the window. She brought them their drinks and the appetizer that they had ordered. After taking care of another table, Kate returned to the counter to wait for the orders to be ready. She noticed Sasha approach Liz and take over one of the customers, a peculiar looking man who appeared a bit... disheveled. Kate shrugged off the thought and delivered her first round of meals, and then rested again on the counter after checking on her other tables.

Leon landed on the ground, the leaves below him making a congratulatory crunch as he did. His claws digging into the soil below him. He regained the scent he had been following, he moved forward making as little sound as possible. The cool breeze blew up against his fur, Leon enjoyed he cool air he loved the forest, he always tried to remain in the forest but had sometimes ventured out when he was back in his home country the U.S. he traveled around but always seemed to find his way back to Canada. He always felt so at home in the forests.

Leon snapped back into the present when he saw the young deer he had been hunting, he licked his chops at the sight. Leon got low to the ground, Leon had gotten good at hunting it was his only source of food for years he had grown to love the fast of deer. Leon lunged forward and dug his claws into the deers back, the deer tried to run but Leon had a good hold on the deer. He pulled the deer closer and then bit down on the deers neck after long enough the deer went limp, the blood already flowing from its wounds.

Leon released his hold of the deer, he looked around satisfied with his kill, As Leon ate his prize he kept his senses attuned to anything that could threaten him while he eats. Leon knew he was in another packs territory he had caught the scent a while back but hadn't been bothered by anyone, even if he was he had experience dealing with unfriendly werewolves, he could easily take one werewolf and win, two would take some luck but a whole pack, he would just have to keep them at bay until he could escape. Leon stood after he finished his meal and then looked around be liked his maw the blood covering his mouth.

Leon looked to the trees, it had been a while since he got a view of the location, he moved to the tallest one near him. Leon made his way up the tree using the years of practice. When he reached the top he surveyed his surroundings. He was in the middle of a thick forest but in the distance he saw a town, he hadn't been in a town in forever. He had stayed in the forest for month not wanting to risk going into towns, he tried to avoid towns incase he changed by accident or if he lost control for a while. Leon didn't like killing humans but wouldn't hesitate to do it. Leon nodded to himself, then began his decent down the tree, when Leon reached ground level he made his way back the way he had come. He reached a dip and the ground he closed his eyes and changed back into his human form, Leon had gotten good at this, but he was plagued by losing control of himself, but when he was in control he could turn himself in and out of wolf form. Leon looked Tina small crevice in which he had places his clothes and gear, he put his clothes on and put his backpack on which at this point was falling apart. Leon looked over the crevice making sure he didn't forget anything. Leon fixed the strap on his pack then began moving in no direction in particular.

The shrilling and annoyingly cheerful beeping of the alarm filled the room. Their was a slight lip to the end table, and it served to corral the enthusiastic cell phone as it did it's morning dance within the confines, the strong vibration that samsungs should be noted for literally turning the wooden stand into an impromptu drum. It was the first time it was doing this gig so far, but it had at least another four encores planned if this round didn't work. It wasn't intending to let up anything too soon.

The bed beside end table protested ever so slightly as the mound of covers groaned. It shifted slightly, and a dark skinned hand crawled out and started groping for the cellphone that decided to turn it's morning song into a game of musical tag. It was eventually captured, the vibration driven momentum too slow to play cat and mouse for too long. The hand, shrill singing price in it's secure grasp, rapidly withdrew into the shelter of the covers, and within moments was silenced. Still, it was a a few seconds more well before the sleepy young man let the covers fall aside.

Yawning, he swung his legs off the bed unto the carpeted floor. He rubbed at his eyes and checked the time. Nine thirty. Which meant he had gotten a grant total of... five hours sleep. He was glad he had taken the morning off. Working in the grill's office wasn't his only work after all. He still had the fluff piece for the new exhibit to finish. By the general standards, he was done. Everything was written and organized and all. But he hadn't done much in terms of editing besides the spell check and a cursory skim through. It had been after four in the morning and he needed sleep.

He was planning his day as he found his way to the kitchen, still wear the boxers he slept in, to fix a meal. A proper editing of the paper, heading out to the office to see if they wanted him to cover anything more in the next few days. Maybe a bit of shopping he added since he was low on eggs and goat, as well as a few other things. That would mean heading up to Mississauga or Toronto to hit the stores he wanted...

The one pot omelet was sizzling, the eggs forming nicely around the pepper, onions and potatoes. The stove was warming the kitchen a few degrees higher than the fifteen or so he kept his house at, but such was the price. He plated the mess and poured himself a cup of milk, zapping it for twenty seconds in the microwave, before he sat at the table and delved in. The universe wasn't just about to let him enjoy his meal though. Someone howled. He lived near the outskirts of town, where he could easily get out in case of a shifting emergency. Not that he had one in years. It was like wetting the bed. You eventually grew out if it. So he was close enough that his sensitive ears, better than the wolves just as there nose was better than his, picked it up no problem.

"Seriously? In the middle of my breakfast?" He complained. His first thought was who was dumb enough to be out hunting in the morning, howling of all things. People tended to call animal control, or the police in the very least, for things like that. His second thought was the realization that it wasn't the howl of anyone he knew. A dozen possibilities flashed, and not one was good. His third was that the howl wasn't one of hunting or calling. It was one of challenge. Strike a couple possibilities from the list, and add a couple more, even worse.

He eat as he dressed. Then grabbed his bike and head for the back country. And this was turning out to be such a nice day too...

Gareth felt uncomfortable with eyes looking at his haggardly appearance. Admittedly, he was too busy trying not to starve to death or evading police search to care about how he looked like. He picked a corner seat away from the crowd and a young server approached him. She was a blonde girl with a healthy, fit frame, looking around the range of 20 years old and above. "Hi, how can I help you?" She asked, looking at him in the eyes. Despite her polite words, something was clearly not right with her, at least according to him. She seemed uneasy and her cheeks seemed rigid, almost as if she was holding her jaws close and tight. At first he wondered if he had done something impolite, but he was fairly certain that no breach of etiquette was committed on his part. She also had a wild scent about her. He had learned from experience that said wild scent often meant that said person wasn't as normal as he or she appeared to be. He started to become skittish and equally uneasy, legs preparing to flee at a moment's notice. The last thing he needed was a fight when he was hungry and barely able to control himself.

The situation was only diffused when a second, brunette woman stepped in. Like the younger blonde, she also had a similar, but distinct wild scent. She was older than the server and the way she talked to her implied a maternal bond. Perhaps she was the owner of the place, given how calm she handled the situation. Her presence alone was enough to calm the server and even he felt his earlier fight-or-flight instinct gradually calmed. "I’m sure this young man is very hungry, Liz. Why don’t you let me take care of him?" She spoke to the blonde woman and she happily stepped away with a smirk. "I'll just take the cheapest food on your menu and be on my way." Gareth replied with a flat expression, a calm, matter-of-fact baritone betraying his ragged appearance, "I'm sorry if I've done something to unnerve your employee." He spoke to her, looking at both the blonde and brunette women.

Leons shoes crunched the leaves they came in contact with his jog barely offsetting the natural terrain. Leon had gotten quiet skilled at blending the environment, the most offsetting thing was the scent of wolf that he carried with him. Leon jog was abruptly stopped as Leon listened to the distinct sound of a howl, this was no ordinary howl. Is wasn't the howl of your average wolf it was the distinct howl of a werewolf, humans however would only hear this as a wolf's, but any that knew werewolves would know the difference.

Leon focused on the howl, this only assured that he was in a pack territory so then he would had to be on guard even more so because of how close the howl was to his location. Leon passed incounters had left him less then open to the idea of meeting a new pack. He knew no pack would take kindly to outsiders he had learned this from experience. Leon hopped to the nearest branch and hoisted himself up he then jumped to the next branch then to the next then to another. He continued this routine making his way through the trees out of sight, of any scanning the trees Leon made his way to a tree that had a small crevice formed in it, he took out a knife and carved four lines into the wood, Leon knew the dangers of running into a pack while in his human form so he declothed and put his clothes and pack into the hole. He quickly turned himself into his wolf form and lunged to the next tree following the direction of the howl, if he could find where they were he could avoid them and be safer. But this meant taking the risk of getting close to them and that gave them the chance of spotting him.

Leon moved through the trees, then he saw it in a small clearing, a pack of wolves were gathered. Leon stood on his point of the tree watching them for every move making sure to stay still, they weren't the largest pack he had seen, but either way a lack was a pack and they out numbered Leon, but Leon might be able to use his skill to defeat one or two of them before he was defeated, or if they caught him he could just run. Leon needed to wait a little to see if there were more, so he sat there unmoving waiting to see if more pack members would arrive. Leon's claws dug into the wood of the branch he was on, he sat like a gargoyle watching this packs every move.

[ooc]Brown Omega is what Lucas' designation in the pack.[/ooc]

Brown Omega perked up when he thought he heard something. Like most members in the pack, he had a special trait. One which seperated him from the other wolves in the pack. While he might Act Differently then the other members of the pack more often, he was still the best when it came to keeping the pack safe. He had the best senses out of anyone in the pack. He grunted to get the other's attention and pointed to the tree. The others either didn't notice, or pretended not to care about the Outsider in the trees. Normally, he would have been struck for wasting everyone's time, but this time they didn't seem to do that. Instead, they seemed to mostly ignore him. Getting to all fours, Brown Omega walked forward then stopped as a shudder went through his body. No! Not now! Not with an intruder!

Lucas struggled, forcing the monster inside him back as he fought his way forward. He thrashed to one side as his wolf was forced down. Panting from the effort, he looked around as though just seeing his surrondings for the first time. The other wolves saw this and it clearly seemed to agitate them. Each one got up. Alpha and Alpha female were made, Beta male and Female were on edge and Black Omega was worried, but when Beta Female looked towards the trees, she snarled, sensing the intruder as well.

Leon watched the brown wolf struggle, he hadn't seen anything like it, he was interested but the interest was pushed back when one of the wolf snarled at him. Leon raised his lips in a snarl at the wolf but he did not move, he didnt seem phased by this wolfs snarl. Leon noted that in case of a emergency he could easily escape backwards. But Leon was interested in this little pack and their struggling pack mate. Even then he needed to find out their exact numbers, if things went south he could escape so long as this pack was smart and played it defensively rather then offensively. Most packs fought defensively as to protect their members, so then why should this one be any different.

Leon wondered what that brown wolf was struggling with. He hadn't seen wolfs struggle like that, aside from if they were fighting to keep themselves in their wolf form, or he could be at risk of losing control, which if was the case Leon would need to be ready for anything. But he really needed to be ready to put that brown wolf down should he lose control and charge. Leon wasn't foreign to fighting other werewolves, he had fought his fair share, but this whole pack was here it would be a danger to fight, but with one of their members having problems the entire pack might not attack, they could just send one or two after him. Leon had fought two wolves befor but it required a lot of skill and luck. He hoped that the pack wouldn't charge he wasn't in the mood for a fight he was in the mood for exploration. Leon watched intently ready for anything that could happen.
