Region X, a region set off away from the rest of the world, where PokéPeople exist separate from the rest of the world. Led by the mysterious Arceus and the Creation Trio consisting of Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia; Region X lived peacefully for millenniums on their own, until a Civil War broke out, when the PokéPeople felt as though they were being oppressed by Arceus' rule, so a large group of PokéPeople marched to the Palace of Wonders, demanding a change in rule.
Thus, the Spirit Trio was founded. The Spirit Trio consisted of three Psychic-type PokéPeople. Azelf, the embodiment of Willpower; Mesprit, the embodiment of Emotion, and Uxie, the embodiment of Knowledge. When the Spirit Trio was created, a wave of calm spread over Region X, ending the chaotic Civil War, and bringing it back to it's era of peace. Grateful of the help of the Spirit Trio, Arceus had ordered the building of the Chambers of Eternity where the Spirit Trio - along with the 16 Plates of Arceus - would be housed for all time.
The Civil War was nearly a century ago, and as a result, the civillians of Region X have prospered. Now with the founding of the Spirit Trio - designed specifically to make sure that the region stays in balance - Region X has been never been more powerful.
It is now Present Time and there is a Crisis at hand...
Prologue
The central chamber of the Palace of Wonders was quiet; more quiet than Arceus was used to, even though it was only a few hours before midnight. Arceus sat below a window, writing a message he planned to send to the Spirit Trio. Ever since he charged the three girls with guarding his Plates, he had been sending them weekly letters, making sure that they were all accounted for. He had felt guilty for the constant messages, but he had never not had his plates with him before.
Just then, soft footsteps sounded through the hall and the clicking of heels could be heard on the marble floor. Arceus looked behind him to see the lovely, violet-haired Palkia walking toward him, her dress flowing behind her as she walked. He gave her a small smile as she approached him at his desk, "Hey, Palkia. I didn't realize you were still up. Where're the others?"
She returned the smile then sat down next to him at the desk, "I'm up, still, yes. And Giratina and Dialga are sleeping, as far as I'm aware. What are you still doing up is the question." She clasped her small hands together resting them on the desk, "What are you writing?" she asked curiously, looking at the paper in front of Arceus.
He picked the paper up, setting it by the corner of the desk, "Oh, nothing. Just to Mesprit; checking on my Plates." He felt a little embarrassed: Giratina, Palkia, and Dialga had known very well that he sent weekly letters to the Spirit Trio, but he felt odd talking about it, as if it was something meaningless that shouldn't be done to begin with.
She nodded understandingly, "Of course. If you think you can finish it tonight, I will be free tomorrow and Dialga and I can go to the Chambers of Eternity to deliver it to them." She looked up at the shining full moon, "Full moon... Cresselia will be out tonight. It will be a good night for the PokéPeople." she stated assuredly.
Arceus nodded, noticing the moon as well. He picked up the letter again, creasing it in half he pulled an envelope from a drawer in his desk to put it in. He handed it to Palkia, "Here. You and Dialga can take this tomorrow for me?" He half-asked, half-told her. She nodded and smiled at him, putting it delicately in her pocket. "Good. Thank you. I'm going to retire." He stood up and Palkia followed him through the quiet marble halls to the end of the palace where the bedrooms were and they each went into their seperate rooms to sleep.
The next morning, Palkia and Dialga set off to the Chambers of Eternity to meet the Spirit Trio. The Chambers of Eternity - like the Palace of Wonder - was created on a levitating island above a lush valley in Region X. Since the seven of them all had the ability to Levitate, or in some cases Flight, it wasn't an issue to create floating palaces.
Dialga flew up to the entryway to the Chambers of Eternity, and he looked around, smiling at the beauty that Arceus had created, "Same as always... I'll never get tired of looking at this place." Palkia landed next to him and agreed. The two of them walked through the ominously barren foyer.
"Dialga... something doesn't feel right; where are the girls?" Palkia asked, moving closer to Dialga. He shrugged in response, suggesting that they may still be asleep. They continued walking, and upon reaching the heart of the Chambers, they stood frozen in shock.
The paintings that Arceus had put up of many different species of PokéPeople were ripped, torn down, stolen, or all of the above. The walls were burned, columns were on the ground, and draperies were shredded and on the ground. They looked at each other, mortified, and said in unison, "The girls." They each went separate ways, calling for Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. After awhile of running and searching, they rejoined back in the central chamber, neither finding nothing. They both flew up quickly into the air to the Observatory where Arceus' plates were held.
They had been stolen.
Palkia turned to face Dialga, worried she spoke, "Dialga... Arceus' plates are gone. Someone out there has some seriously powerful stuff and some powerful PokéPeople with them - the Spirit Trio! I... I didn't think it was possible to steal people. It's just... it's just immoral!"
Dialga nodded, putting a hand on Palkia's shoulder to calm her, "I know. Understand, Palkia, we will find them, do not worry. Right now, we need to get back to the Palace of Creation and let Arceus know what happened. Come on." He ushered her down from the Observatory and the left the Chambers of Eternity to meet Arceus at the Palace of Wonders...
Arceus paced the room, before him stood Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina; his three most trusted advisers. He stopped, turning to face them, "All of them are... gone?" He asked, timidly.
The sun shone brightly through the windows of the Palace of Wonders, reflecting onto the group warmly as they talked. Palkia was the first to speak, "Arceus, we understand that you are worried, but-" She was cut off before she could finish speaking; Arceus had interrupted her.
Arceus glared, a frightening look in his eye. He had obviously become engulfed by the rage of losing all sixteen of his Plates, and the Spirit Trio as well. He looked her in the eyes as he spoke, angrily, "No. Worried does not describe the amount of... of rage that I feel. Whoever did this... Whoever kidnapped the Spirit Trio will adhere to their crimes or face. My. Wrath." He turned away from them, walking to sit on his throne. He took a deep, shuddered, sigh as he looked at them again, the vengeful look in his eye had left and he looked calmer now, not as though he wanted to rip someone's head off - even though he probably did.
Giratina spoke this time, her long dress flowed as she moved closer to Arceus, "We will find the plates, do not worry. I'll summon for the others and we can rescue them and the Spirit Trio no problem." Arceus shook his head. If someone was this power hungry, this devious, and this cunning to kidnap the Spirit Trio, and to steal the 16 Plates of Arceus, then they needed someone different from the usual group he had summoned to handle situations like this.
Arceus stood up, walking out to stand on the terrace, and the three quickly followed behind him. The terrace at the Palace of Wonders overlooked the Empoleon Sea, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore was almost deafening. For a few, long moments Arceus stood, hands on the railing as he watched the waves crash against the rocky shore. Finally, he turned back to face the three behind him, "No... No we won't get the regular group, we will find different people - volunteers. Darkrai expressed greatly how against he was of having a Secret Service to carry out all the actions; and I agree, we need to allow the civilians to help. We are going to post a message in all of the towns; but first... I need Shaymin."
Dialga was baffled, "Shaymin? As in... Shae? Arceus, you do know that she remains secluded in her little paradisaical garden for the majority of the year for a reason, right? The girl is completely insane!" He looked to Palkia for support, but she merely shook her head and gave him a disapproving look. "Come on, Arceus," he continued to plead, "We can't... we can't put Shae in charge of something this big. Please, let us do it. Not... not her."
Giratina looked at Dialga, "She's not insane, Dialga. She's merely... a more unique thinker than everyone else. Besides, she's kind and sweet. She's never done anything wrong, and I don't see her doing such anytime soon." Giratina crossed her arms over her chest, giving Dialga one last, disapproving look before turning back to face the ocean. She walked to stand next to Arceus, "Don't worry," she soothed him, "Everything will turn out all right." Arceus merely nodded shortly.
Palkia spoke up, "I'll go to Shaymin." She turned and walked back through the palace to the main entrance before taking off for Viridian City, then to Shaymin's Garden to meet Shae.
~
Palkia arrived at Shaymin's Garden a day earlier than she expected. She warily walked through the delicate, maze-like forest to find the clearing where Shae resided. After hours of wandering and seeming to get nowhere, she finally stumbled into the clearing where the small cottage that Shae lived was at. Palkia knocked on the door softly, then when she didn't get an answer, worriedly opened the door, praying that they didn't take Shae too. Palkia let out a sigh of relief when she realized that Shae was merely sleeping on the sofa. Palkia walked up to her, "Shae... Shae wake up." she said softly to the young girl.
Abruptly, Shae got up quickly, putting up her hands in a defensive mode, then, realizing who it was, put her hands down and hugged Palkia tightly, "Palkia! Whatever are you doing here?" She released Palkia, then the two sat down so that Palkia could explain what was going on. Shae continued to frown throughout the recollection and when Palkia finished, she knew exactly what she was going to do, "Of course. I would be honored to lead this group to rescue the Spirit Trio! When do I start?"
"Now." Palkia said curtly, then two left, heading out the door, with Shae close behind her. Once they reached the palace, the five agreed that Shaymin would lead a group called "The Enlightenment Squad" - a group of volunteer PokéPeople who would work with Shae to find out who - or what - kidnapped the Spirit Trio and stole the 16 Plates of Arceus.
"This is the message that's going to be posted in every town, city, and port. I figured I should let you read it beforehand so you could get a head start..." Arceus said, handing a piece of parchment to Shae to read. She nodded, handing it back. She took a breath, switching to her Sky Forme, and she sprinted off the terrace, flying toward Eden Town...
