'Many human beings need no supernatural mentoring to commit acts of savagery; some people are devils in their own right, their telltale horns having grown inward to facilitate their disguise.'

- Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas

In the world as it had been before, many people considered the implications of Humans being inherently evil; mankind was capable of awful, terrible attrocities the likes of which were rarely seen in nature. In our history, blood has been spilt over a manner of things, from greed, anger, or lust; mankind seemed destined to destroy inself in a blaze of fire. There were those who predicted the end; judgement day, the apocalpyse, the rapture... the list seemed endless. If mankind wasn't destroying itself, it was preparing for its destruction. That destruction never came, of course; despite the evil that existed in the world, mankind carried on with their lives in a blissful ignorance, fueled only by their desires, and what they could fight against.

Then it came. The day that mankinds inherent destruction arrived, in the form of itself.

On the morning of April, 2014, mankind awoke to a world in which its evil nature took on its own form. Although the true numbers can only be speculated, its estimated that atleast one third of the worlds population turned into them. It didn't matter who; you family, your friends; it seemed completely random. Their outwards appearance remained completely unchanged, other then the complete blackening of their eyes. The true changes took place beyond what we could see.

They became malicious. They became ruthless. They became cunning. They became our every definition of evil. On that first day, that very first day, that one third that changed turned to the rest of the human race, and tore them apart. Limbs were severed; blood was spilt; teeth were pulled; flesh was tore. In the most brutal act of savagery that human kind could possibly imagine, hell was released upon the Earth. They made no exceptions; men, women, children. All killed. In less then a mere week, that one third that changed had killed over a third of those that remained. And from what those who have survived could tell, they didn't do it for any other reason then fun; their laughter drowned out the cries of those that remained.

Of course, man kind resisted; guns were fired; barricades were built; bombs were launched. But ultimately, mankind could not defeat itself. Especially not something that thought like mankind, looked like mankind, and knew just as much about the world that mankind knew. But it wasn't just that... they were stronger then us. Those who changed no longer felt pain, or remorse, or guilt. They never hesitated, or paused in what they were doing. They never slept, and as far as the survivors could tell, they ate only for enjoyment, not for need. They began to hunt those who remained, taking pleasure in each and every kill. They created camps, stretching miles across, capturing those who had survived and using them as nothing more then amusement, while the humans inside the camps were tortured both mentally and physically, awaiting their death. We were being replaced, by a more dominent, malicious version of ourselves.

And thats where we find ourselves, six months after it began; the last remains of mankind, hunted day and night by these 'Demons'. But before the end, those who've survived this long will live to wish they had died a quicker death.

Character Sheet:

Our characters will all be apart of the same group of survivors. How you met the group, or whether you will meet them in your first post, is entirely up to you (Don't hesitate to PM me any questions you might have about your character). The group will be lead by my character initially, so that I can move the beginning of the story along. But don't worry; if somethings happens (Like my character dies, or your characters decide that my character isn't fit to lead the group), someone else can always take over.

Name: Your characters name.

Gender: You really shouldn't need help for this one.

Age: How old is your character.

Appearance: What does you character look like? Remember, it's six months after it began, so you're gonna have a little wear and tear.

Personality: Has your character handled the End well? Or are they one death away from going insane? Your choice.

Fear: Your characters greatest fear. The 'Demons' can sense your fear, and will use it against you.

History: A brief history of your character. Note, I will be using this as a writing sample to see if you are right for this Roleplay, so include things like how the End affected them, what did they do, how did they meet the group?

Other: Anything else you wish to add.

And here is my character. (Note, if anyone wishes their character to be related to mine, like their daughter, or brother, or son, or something like that, just ask).

Name: George Woods

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Appearance: George stands roughly at six foot exactly, with his scraggily chestnut hair adding an inch or two. His face is adhorned with the rough stubble spread across his jaw, his fading green eyes, and the faded remains of a scar, placed upon him a few months previous. Once a handsome man, age has caught up with him since it all began, and he now has a few deep wrinckles, greying hair. He dresses practically, in a long dark overcoat covering his worn trousers and dirt stained shirts. Thanks to a fall a few weeks back, he walks with a very slight limp, but it hasn't affected his ability to run, yet.

Personality: George had once been a happy man, filled with life and joy; he gave to charity, and always gave a dollar to whichever homeless man he passed. Sure, he suffered from a slight drinking problem, but it was never directly affecting his life. However, since the end began, and he has had to make countless decisions to survive, he has become a shadow of himself; he has become tough, and hardened, and isn't above doing what needs to be done to make sure those close to him survive, even if it means doing something horrible himself.

Fear: George's biggest fear is seeing his wife again; once the love of his life, she was one of those who turned into a 'Demon'. She nearly killed George once she turned, with George unable to fight back, believing he can save her. As far as he knows, the Demon that use to be his wife is still alive out there.

History: I will completely write my characters history once a few others have joined. All you need to know right now, is that he came from Colorado, and began leading our group of survivors a few weeks after the world went to hell. Since then, he has lead the group as they travel around, trying to survive. Any questions, just ask.

Relationship With The Group: George currently leads the group, as best he can. He has made a few bad decisions over the weeks, causing people within the group to die, which affected George greatly.

Other: George had no previous fighting experience, but has since had to learn. He carries with him a 9mm Handgun and a knife, which he never leaves out of his sight.
