3 Friends idea OOC (still working on a title and everything, CLOSED)

So a few big things to handle first.

    1. Setting: What time period we looking at for this rp? Medieval, Renaissance, Modern, Victorian, etc.

    2. Factions: Remember, each of us belong to a different "Faction" with powers and such, so this is more of a personal thing. Think of some ideas for what your group is like and such.

    3. Romance?: Remember, this is a 3 person rp, and considering this already has some drama aspects of possible opposing factions, why not add in some more intimate drama while we're at it?

    4. Plot ideas: We know the factions aren't "allies" so why would they be on bad terms with each other? What are some possible plot points to cover, some over arching enemies, etc.

5 Did I miss anything?: Do you guys have any questions or anything?

I know usually OOC's have more in them, but since all three of us are gonna be having a major part in the creation of this world, I'm not gonna set anything in stone yet by posting it here. Lets work on what we need to establish this before CS's and anything like that.

    How about this:

Thousands of years ago, there were 3 warrior-kings, each did unspeakable things to maintain their land, power and wealth. When a great wizard visited the island nation, broken into 3 parts, he was offered residence in each one... each king wishing to attain the great wizard's power for his own land. But when the wise wizard refused, he was threatened by each king... After many years living is solitude, the wizard was approached by the 3 sons of the 3 kings. Each wished not to claim his power, but his head. The battle was ferocious, but the wizard ultimately won... he killed the sons, and cursed the kings, now they were separated by more than name. As the years have gone by, the 3 kingdoms have vanished, but it's said there are cults gathering, looking for the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren of the cursed kings, who will once again rule the lands.

    -OR-

Demigods... they used to live among us, but have all since left... except 3, or so the story goes. One of land, one of sea, and one of air (or any 3 distinguishing factors), the 3 demigods were a source of spiritual leadership, of peace... but one day they vanished... their wives, husbands, children all remained, but they were gone... Each side blamed the others. 'Your sin was too great!' they would claim, but no one knew for sure. A war broke out, the land was divided, and the fighting was bloody, brutal, and merciless... Of course this was many a-year ago, and no one knows just what happened to the demigods... though they say their children still walk this land.

Posting on my break at work, so I'll come back later and post something more comprehensive when I can get to a computer without having to be sneaky, heh. Personally, I like the idea of setting it in the modern day. I'm working on an idea for my faction and possible plot points, but I just wanted to post checking in while I could.

Well that took longer than I expected. Sorry about that! Still working on my idea for my faction, but I gave the other points some thought~

    1. I still like the idea of it being set in the modern day, but again I'm easily swayed.

    2. WIP.

    3. I don't really feel like we can go much depth into this - unless we go the STAR CROSSED LOVERS PROPHECY route - until we're actually at the stage of making characters, but definitely yes. With the number of RPers there's the perfect set up for love triangles, betrayal, someone getting the poor little feelings hurt and all that lovely dramatic stuff.

    4. I came up with one possible scenario, if it doesn't work then I'll give it more thought and post when I think of them. I also like the first idea Inqweaver posted.

People gave it many names, the utopia lost in the depths of human prehistory. Eden and Atlantis. Camelot or Lyonesse. Myths about it were whispered and twisted until the real city was lost behind a smokescreen and lies of fiction. But one thing remains constant in all the myths and the old tales: there was a betrayal and this paradise fell.

Three houses were tasked with the defense of their home against the enemy. Three lines of defense, three bitter rivalries. Always arguing and vying for power, they nevertheless believed that when the time came and it was their home that was threatened that these petty, childish issues could be put to the side in the face of protecting all they held dear.

So when one of them turned traitor and all was lost, the pain was all the worse.

Basically some pinnacle of human achievement and peace and paradise, yada yada yada, three families stand above the rest and always had some sort of grudge/disagreements between them all, sometimes two teaming up against the third, sometimes all of them at the others throats. But when there was some ~super powerful big bad enemy threatening their home and their people they still teamed up together and knew they could stop it together.

Loljk. One of them was a traitor. DIDN'T TURN OUT SO WELL. Families scattered across the globe, always holding the grudge, etc etc.

    5. I don't really have any questions yet, but I'mma sure I'll post if I do.

for romance I was really just asking do we want it or not lol.

I do like the idea of making it about atlantis or something like that.

I love the idea of resurrecting a lost city in this...

I think the treason aspect could be very right or very very wrong. if it goes right, you have a character having to redeem their entire family name, or even their own name in the eyes of their friends, or their family. But would the child of treasonous blood, really abandon their name and blood for friends; or would the succumb to their bloodline, and turn on their friends?

Or... if it goes wrong... it'll be a typical 'cold, calculating' character being an ass and then excusing it with genealogy.

My question is: How can we ensure our three families are different enough? Unless we give a basic overview of traits, mentality, characteristics... in which case it would be highly likely that scenario b will happen, or our families have no reason for not getting along.

Well, this was the idea I had in mind when I made this. Basically, the original concept before I decided having each of us play a major role in the story

Family 1: "Demon" family, basically your standard family with magic abilities, but their past is stained in dark history and all born from the lineage have the potential to become world destroying warlocks and witches if they succumb to their "evil" side.

Family 2: "Paladin" family, basically instead of magic, there is a "holy" weapon passed down between the generations, equal in power to a full fledged "demon" family member, and it's used to slay those of the "demon" family that grow up to be evil. No powers per see, but still a very important piece with magic weapons.

Family 3: Miscellaneous family, basically this family is important, but whoever belongs to it can decide where it fit into the workings of the three families. They could have magic, weapons, techniques, whatever really.

That was the original setup behind them. Maybe we can use this as a base design?

Ok, how about combining the ideas?

3 families: Demons, Paladins, and [insert 3rd family here] maintained peace and balance for a number of years... until treason at the hands of whichever family caused the civilization to fall and the families to be scattered, cropping up really randomly, in the least expected places... like 3 dear friends in a small village?

What about something like demons, paladins, and shapeshifters?

The demons are ambitious and clever, but can be evil,
The paladins are lawful and wise, but can be overbearing
and The shapeshifters are whimsical and kind, but can be flaky and distant

We can each pick one, and run with it... though which one was the traitor? I think the obvious choice is the demon family, but I like the idea of it being one of the other two, just to throw people off.

^ I like that combination. And yeah, I think it would be better if it was one of the non-demon families - maybe even the paladins? Just to throw a spanner in the works, haha.

See the only thing is there wouldn't really be a traitor in the other families. The demon family tries to keep in line, but one succumbs to the evil side within them. The paladins just have a weapon good against only magic beings, so pretty much killing only those of the demon family, or opposing magic users. The third family is really the only one we could use besides the demons for this traitor thing, or.

They don't have to be traitors. Maybe it's just the ancestors decide "Hey, don't be hanging with each other anymore" and the three are saying "Fuck you, we gonna be friends always" and then more shit happens basically following those guide lines of new generation disobeying older generations.
