I just used button as example. It could also be a certain motion, or a voice command. It just needs to transmit a signal wave. But for Flynn his hand he uses buttons. For his backpack he uses a motion.

Produce energy :P But they are often used I survival packs, as they are light and easy to be hooked up to whatever you want powered.
