The first Die Hard was great, but they went steadily down hill with each following incarnation. (As so often happens with movies and their subsequent sequels.) It's not that they were bad movies, they were just clearly made for the money -- quality was gone, the jokes became more stale, and they tried to use explosions as distractions for the fact that the plots were getting increasingly more ridiculous. Now, that being said, I know pretty much nothing about the new movie.. but, if I had to make a guess based off the trend the franchise has followed, it'll probably be a sort of mindless action flick, laced with a few zingers, and entertaining to a fault (as long as you're not looking for a seriously good movie). Probably not a bad distraction for a few hours, but I wouldn't expect it to win any awards..

Exactly what I was about to say. It’s basically just a popcorn flick.

Granted, Die Hard 5 is probably the worst of the Die Hard films, but I've yet to be disappointed by a Die Hard film. I have enjoyed all of them, and I think DH4 and DH1 are tied for my favourite.

I enjoyed the first three a lot. That may be a bit of nostalgia though, except for one. I watched it very recently and it was still awesome. But 4? 4! Really? And tied with one no less? Damn.

Yeah, he comes out the T.V. and leaves riddled with bullet holes.
