    Between Fire and Ice - The earth and the sky. (Kyux & namelesshero)

    People are born with the ability to connect to the nature but they usually loose it at a very early point. Some when the egg becomes a zygote, some at a later stage of the pregnancy, and some, but very few, lose it after they're born and the ability is not developed, from the sole reason it isn't known. But once, there were people who knew how to take advantage of these powers, and to use them for their own good. Some, controlled the Air, allowing themselves to break the laws of gravity and hover in mid air during their daily activities. Others, who controlled fire, made it easy to create and use fire for different things such as cooking food, and warming themselves. Some of these people also controlled Earth and Water; Earth in order to build houses, caves, and water, known as a healing element, was used for such matters.

    But there is one more quality known to man. A quality that is so vicious, and so destructive, that it caused most of the biggest wars in the human history.

    Envy.

    Envy has caused to those who couldn't control the elements to want to destroy them and erase them from the world, saying they weren't human, that they were witches and warlocks, saying that they were monsters. Finally, in a few decades, there were almost no elementals left, and these who were left were sent to the underground, hiding their abilities and never exposing them to the others. But as the years past, the stories about the elementals became legends, stories that were told to children before bedtime, Myth. What they didn't know was that these humans were still there, among them, the simply didn't know that they've had these powers.

    As the 20th century came, and with it the two greatest world wars, people have started to realize they've had these powers. These people named themselves "The Seconds", since, they were the second lineage to have fond the powers, and use them. But, knowing the legends that appeared to be their new history, they kept themselves underground, collecting all people who they knew had some powers, or even knew about them.

    Now, at the 21st century,with the new technology, they have started kidnapping kids with possible genetic order that implied on being an Elemental, killing off these who possessed no powers at all, and training these who showed to wield the powers of the elements.
    These kids were The Seconds kids, and their grand kids, trained to believe the normal human wants to kill them and depress their kind, they grew up to be killing machines, without any judgmental abilities. Well, most of them did.

    ~~~~~
    A strong stream of water has splashed against one of the dummies as the blue eyed man panted a bit. He was exhausted, but he kept on training and training. Panting lightly, his chest heaved up and down as he felt a change of movement in the air and turned over, only to find out a huge rock that was dashing towards his chest, knocking him off his feet. Groaning in pain he huffed a bit, feeling his stomach and lungs clench from the hit.
    "Jeez Ansem, aren't you believed to be one of the best in your element? Seriously, you're just pathetic." A young woman, wearing nothing but a training bra and a pair of really short shorts have approached to the man with a cheesy grin on her face.
    The blonde glared up at her as he lifted himself back up on his feet and dusted himself slightly, as he made some of the water to hover towards his stomach just where the boulder hit, as it glowed lightly, healing his possible broken ribs."Oh Shut up Arika, I was caught off guard." The man snarled to the young looking, red haired girl as he passed beside her shaking his head.
    The girl frowned lightly."Hey, I was just joking around, don't be like that, whats wrong? Mr. Terren castrated you?" She asked as she followed him. The two were pretty good friends,since, well, ever, as they were both brought to the Seconds organization at the same age,and grew up together.
    Ansem turned to her as he shook his head groaning lightly."No, it's just.. He assigned me to one of his ridiculous "recruiting missions". How on earth am I supposed to come to families and to take their children away, saying that they can control elements? Please, tell me." He asked rather frustrated by the whole deal. He sat down on one of the benches and grabbed a towel wiping his face as he glanced at the girl.
    Arika glanced at him and blinked."Oh Hon, you're simply taking away their kids, you're not telling them." She said and shrugged."And as for more grown up people, you need to just.. kidnap them. Do your mojo with the water and it would be just fine! Iv'e brought about twelve people in these recruiting missions, you know its important." The girl believed in what she was saying, like many others around the place, but Ansem wasn't like them. He disliked the whole idea that Dr. Terren, their leader, had. And now this? He always tried avoiding these mission but now, now, he just had to, or the man would start to seriously consider about... Well, killing him off.
    The young man nodded as he glanced at the girl and then raised to his feet, and headed to his bedroom to get prepared for the mission. He didn't need much, a bottle of water, and some food, thats all, then, he was on his way to the town.
    "See you tomorrow, boss!"
    Dawn skipped out of the coffee shop with light steps. Today was pay day, and although not much her wages was enough to cover her everyday needs, extra few luxuries. Her boss was lenient toward her pay, giving way more than what an ordinary coffee shop waitress could get. She was really grateful for him. With no one else to lean on for support, she could only cherished every little luck she could get.
    The sun had been eager to end the day by any minutes, yet the street was as crowded as always. Lights from shops lit it bright, blurring the line between day and night. She could never stop herself from admiring such beauty. From time to time she would find herself walking around the shopping district with no destination in particular. It was only to enjoy the scenery of the night, watching the endless stream of people walking back and forth minding their own business. Her steps would slowed down, her existence insignificant among so many souls.
    As the night grew late, she finally returned to her home, a small flat she rented for cheap. The interior wasn't bad, and she actually was quite fortunate to get such a deal. Still, she hated to be there.
    Because being there reminded her that she was all alone.
    In the darkness of her room she laid on the bed, bothering not to change her clothes. They weren't dirty anyway. Her room was of the same condition. While it wasn't in a state of chaos, it was only kept for the bare minimum of tidiness. She didn't even try to make her quarter appealing to people's eyes; she knew it would yield nothing. At least for her it didn't.
    Although, she also kept a secret. Assured that no one else would see her, she fiddled her fingers. A gust of wind began to gather around her. And then her fingers pointed to her rabbit doll. As if pulled up by magic, the doll floated to the air. However, its speed began to grow until it jolted upward, hitting the ceiling before falling back down. She caught the doll while praying that the impact wouldn't be felt by the tenants above. After awhile, she hugged the doll and fell back to her bed.
    The young blonde was looking for the elemental of air. A young waitress from what The Seconds managed to collect about her, that worked not too far from the small underground village they had. As Ansem walked out he looked around and frowned. Everything was so beautiful outside, and he wished he could have just stayed outside forever, and live among the normal humans. It was his long-life dream, and Michael Terren, the leader of the Seconds, promised him that once their search will be done, he will do so. And the elementals will live with everyone else. What Ansem didn't know was that Terren wasn't planning on coming in peace with the humans, but vice versa, he wanted to kill them for what they did to his and Ansems ancestors ceturies ago.
    Ansem was scouting around the town, making sure he won't use his skills, because, if someone would see him, he could get himself and the rest of his elemental friends in big trouble, who knew if humans still believed they exsited or no? anyway, it was far too risky. Finally, once Ansem managed to find the girls adress he walked up the stairs, avoiding the elevator, to not waste any more time as he rang on her door bell, wondering what he could say to her. This was ridiculous, and he hated these jobs. Coming to strange people and telling them they are some odd creature and that they must come with him or else they'll be killed was horrible.
    What he did hope was that she was living alone and not with her parents or a boyfriend perhaps. It would make anything much, much harder on him.
    She had a strange dream. Within it she was falling. Fast. Really fast. However, there was no fear in her heart. Somehow she knew that she'd be fine. As she grew closer and closer to the ground, she braced herself for the impact. Or so she thought. In that dream, she could feel no fear. She could feel no pain. To tell the truth, she could feel nothing at all. What should've been creating a large shockwave was only another typical experience in her life. No more, no less. As she stood within the crater she'd created, her eyes scanned the entire area. A wide, open space which was covered by lush green trees. Air so fresh it cleansed souls. Blue sky reaching to eternity...
    The sudden ringing pushed her away from the land of sleep. Her hands treaded the darkness of her room, trying to find the switch for her bed lamp. It was already late at night! What kind of person would intrude at this hour? She hesitated to answer the door, since she had no friend nor family nearby who'd paid her a visit. What if it was a burglar? Although the idea of bell-ringing thief was stupid by its own.
    Nothing else happened after the door bell stopped ringing. She was already a step away from door, dressed only in thin t-shirt and shorts. Not an appropriate clothing to take a guest, but she was expecting none. She'd just make this quick.
    "...yes...?" she slowly opened the door, her eyes peeking out to see a man standing in front of her apartment. She didn't know this man...and his clothes didn't suggest a public service at all. "Who are you? May I help you?" the chain on her door was still attached. Even if he tried something funny, he wouldn't be able to enter at all. That alone gave her a tiny bit courage, although some doubts still lingering inside her mind.
    Once the young girl opened the door, Ansem turned his blue-ih grey eyes down to the paper he was holding that withheld a picture of the girl. Yes. That was her, good, so maybe it wasn't going to be so aweful, though coming up in the middle of the night wasn't very appropriate, Terren didn't care, he wanted her as soon as possible."Good evening, uhm, I'm Ansem." he said calmly as he glanced at her."are you Dawn? Well as I can see from this picture you are." he said calmly feeling rather awkward, really, this was so stupid. He glanced at her and then let himself in, standing beside her."don't worry I won't hurt you. I'm here from the elemental organization named "The Seconds, and I have to take you with me, the only thing I can tell you about it is that you were found out as the user of the element of air and we must take you to us." he said bluntly before making a swift hand movement and bringing some water to hover around her wrists like handcuffs, before turning them to ice so she won't be able to escape.
    "I'm sorry for the inconvenience but its a must." he said and frowned before grabbing her and holding her over his shoulder, with her head down his back. He then headed out of the small apartment and started running back towards their hideout.
    She'd never heard of that organization, and the man's name didn't help to alleviate her confusion. He proceeded to ramble on and on about elemental thingy...something about air. As in, oxygen? "Err...sorry, but I'm not interested in occult stuff or whatnot...maybe you can find more luck with my neighbor?" She opened the door a bit wider, seeing the man didn't seem to bring anything dangerous. She was about to dismiss him as a nutcase when suddenly he...shoved watery puddle around her wrists? and it froze in an instant! She couldn't believe her own eyes.
    "What...what?" she got no time for questions as the man had already flung her over his shoulder and took flight. His speed was incredible, better than anyone she'd ever known. However, it wasn't the time to be impressed. As far as she's concerned, this was a kidnapping!
    "Hey! Let go! Let go!" she pound on his back frantically, but wasn't able to inflict any noticable pain. She should've trained her body more..."I...said...LET GO!" they were already far from the bustling city, entering rural area which had fewer people around especially at these hours. Feeling of danger burned her instinct, urging her to do anything, ANYTHING, to get her away from this madman. Her hands shoved toward the ground forcefully, pushing thin air.
    Which was precisely what she'd done.
    The power was likely equivalent to a jet engine. Physics compelled her, along with her captor, to be catapulted toward the sky. Trees and buildings quickly became tiny on her eyes, her jaws opened wide in awe. What had she done? More importantly, what now...? Suddenly the dream looked like a premonition...a baaad premonition!
    Ansem didn't quite notice her rumbeling and beggings to let her go, he couldn't, he would love to but he couldn't. Once they were already far from the city, he kept running when suddenly he felt a strong force pushing him up , as the ground underneath his legs started to disapper. He gasped once they were high up in the sky."The hell are you doing?!" He groaned lightly as he flinched in mid air while the two of them started falling down. He screamed out before swriling over so he will face the ground, that was a risky move, since if what he had in mind won't help, his face and everything else was done for. He barely managed to move his arms against the pressure of the air and did a swift motion of whipping, making the frozen water from her wrists turn into liquid and create a small bubble right where they were supposed to fall.
    Once they finally reached to the ground, the two of them fell through the bubbl;e that softened their landing. So it was as if they fell from a step and not from the middle of the sky. Ansem then fell down on the ground, panting heavily as the bubble released and simply splashed on the two of them, leaving them wet.
    "Have you gone mad? You could have killed us!" he groaned as he sat up wincing lightly."Seriously! what on earth were you thinking?! "
    She didn't even scream. Reality seemed to seep out from her very soul, leaving her bare naked to the chaos she witnessed with her own eyes. First a kidnapper suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and now she propelled said kidnapper plus herself toward a deadly freefall, and now as they fell down head-first, he changed the ice cuffs restraining her wrists into water bubbles. She got physics in her high school, and she knew the border between reality and imaginative insanity. She was, at the moment, in the latter.
    Kneeling on the wet grass, she could say nothing to reply Ansem's angry remarks. Her body was trembling of fear, not about him anymore but of the prospect of death she had just barely avoided. It was a little secret of her, since her childhood she was able to make things "levitated", like those wizard kids in Harry Potter books. She never showed it to others, not even her friends and guardians in the orphanage. She didn't know that such "power" could be used in that way. That was...scary. That was too overwhelming.
    "No...NOOO!" She screamed out, piercing the silence of the night. Ignoring Ansem completely, she jolted down to the city, eager to run away from her kidnapper...from this nightmare. She prayed that it was all a dream. A bad, bad dream. She wasn't accustomed to running; her feet started to ache from the instant acceleration. However, she didn't dare to stop nor slowing down. That man's speed was a real deal, that's for sure. She had to endure it. And thus she ran through the dark street, nobody was around on sight...
    She was stopped rather abruptly with a bang. "Ouch!" Two feminine voice echoed at the same time. She had just crashed on a girl, a short-haired brunette clad in hoodies and black jeans.
    "...Maggie?" she knew that voice. Margery Armstrong was her friend in high school. They were quite close even back then, even now she sometimes visited her house on weekends.
    "Dawn? What are you doing here?" the brunette got up faster than her, quickly helping her friend back up. Dawn didn't expect to meet her at this hour, although she remembered that Margery loved to wander around at night.
    "I...I don't have time to explain! Hurry, come with me!" she pulled Margery along, meanwhile looking back again and again to make sure that Ansem hadn't caught up yet. She didn't know what he'd do if he met Margery as well. At this moment she had concluded him as bad news.
    Ansem huffed a bit as his eyebrows pricked up once she started running away."W---HEY! WAIT UP!!!" He groaned as he cursed under his breathe before standing up and making the water float back into the bottle he was carrying around his waist. God this girl was so annoying! Why couldn't she just come along and thats it! He started running after her but it appeared as if he lost track of her, now walking around in some unknown part of the town for him, as he suddenly herd two feminine voices, one of them was deffinetly the girl. He rushed towards the sound.
    Once he finally managed to get there he noticed there was another woman. Damn it, this couldn't be good, if she'd know about him and about her powers, this will end badly for the girl. He started running after the two girls as he managed to be just behind them before splashing his water right in front of them, making them slip and fall. "Damn you're fast!" He glanced at her as she was down on the ground, his chest heaving slightly. He was good at running, but this girl wasn't so bad herself.
    He glanced at the other girl and then showed a charming smile before touching a pressure point near her ear making her faint, then, he cuffed Dawn the same was as before and glared at her."Whats wrong with you? I'm not going to hurt yopu, really. You have to trust me." He said as he glanced at her his icy blue eyes glancing at her, hoping she wont run away anymore.
    She winced when the cold ice formed back on her wrists, her struggle proved useless on its unforgiving grip. Mixture of fear, anger, and concern flared inside her mind, especially toward her friend Maggie. Somehow this mad man had knocked her unconscious. Dawn could only hope that he didn't do any further than that. Feeling insecure as he drew closer, she kicked her feet upward, creating shockwave made of wind. She didn't consider using her power that way before, but screw common sense.
    "Trust you? How can I trust yoU! You...you freak!" she growled at Ansem, rage flickering on her eyes. She couldn't break free of the ice, but somehow she was confident that she wouldn't go down that easily against him. "Don't come closer or I'll send you back to the sky, this time for good!"
    "Uhh..." Margery whimpered weakly, prompting Dawn to move closer to her. She was relieved that the brunette looked alright. A bit wobbly, but fine nonetheless. She turned her attention back to Ansem. "How can I trust you when you just went and knocked out my friend like that? Try explain that, mister!"
