Pokemon: The Pokerus Infection (Private Rp)

For years man and pokemon have lived side by side. Humans and pokemon were always thought to be the only two creatures on the planet. Just human beings, and thousands of breeds of pokemon. That's it. But lately, something new has been discovered, originating off a small island inhabited only by pokemon just off the coast of the Unova Region. It's not a new species of pokemon, it's not a new plant...it's a disease.

Yes, a disease. An organism that attaches to pokemon and pokemon-like creatures, and causes the pokemon to act differently. It spreads very easily, usually by touch. They call it Pokerus. Pokerus seems like a good thing to have at first, as it makes pokemon trainers grow stronger at an alarming rate. If a pokemon without pokerus trained for a week, they would be about 1/17 stronger. If a pokemon with pokerus trained for a week, they would be three times that. But little does everyone know, it's not as it seems...

The pokerus does not only make pokemon stronger, it also makes them savages. While it makes them stronger in terms of muscles, abilities, ect., it also gives them other symptoms. It causes a tenancy to attack anything that moves, animalistic behavior, red eyes, and a strange eating patterns consisting of calcium. Pokemon that have pokerus go through different stages of infection. First stage is normal, just having a strength boost. The second stage has the pokemon start to lose control. The third stage has them gain red eyes and a craving for calcium. Then the fourth and final stage has them grow bone-like protrusions out of the skin, and gain a darker fur/skin/feather color. They are very vicious and should be killed or contained on sight.

What caused this outbreak of Pokerus? And how can we cure it? The answer lies in the island I described earlier...

The island, believed to be inhabited only by pokemon and not by humans, has had time to evolve things a bit more. Because this island was isolated and left untouched by humans, it allowed things to change a bit more. It allowed Pokerus to form, and it also allowed a way for the pokemon to now catch it. With the arrival of Pokerus, the pokemon there also evolved a "Pokerus Antibody". It allowed the pokemon on that specific island to be immune to the Pokerus, and therefor not lose it's mind every time it spotted something moving. If scientists can get to the island without their pokemon killing them, which is a three-day-long trip at sea, they can take an antibody pokemon back and synthesize some of the antibody to cure all the pokemon. If not...we might be doomed to a world full of savage animals and a deteriorating ecosystem, where pokemon kill each other senselessly until nothing is left...
