I'm very interested in this. Very very.
Looks like a great roleplay idea... and just down my road genre wise.
And creating a whole royal family and nation? Great! Even if it doesn't affect the character.
I'm already beginning to get some ideas...
The Academy, and the House of Dandolo welcomes you, to this first... 'school' in the Gerand peninsula. School is a word that comes from the Greek word σχολή (scholē), which originally meant 'leisure'.
But there will be little here. You are all here because you are related to emperors. Kings. Dukes. Bishops. Merchant princes. Counts. And anyone of wealth or prestige. Young men, and even women, studying together in the first school in this lands. You will learn many things. Trading. Sword fighting. The navy. Literature. Art. Music.
Put your heart into knowing your friends around you. For they will be the future king and queens for which soldiers bleed and die for. And the friendship of two men can stop entire nations from heading to war.
I am the Doge of the Most Serene Republic of Veliege. My name is Enrico Dandolo, and welcome to the Academy of Velezia.
It's a school RP! Set in a low fantasy medieval place! Hooray!
So wait, low fantasy?
When I said 'low fantasy', it means that most of the people in world do not even know of the more fantastical elements of the place. There is magic, but so subtle that it can be easily hidden away. However, the most dominant religion in the area, led by the Patriarchate of Ravenna, leads an inquisition to deal with so-called supernatural elements.
Some rules:
1. No godmodding. However, I reserve the right to rule on how combat events, if any come up and of any kind (such as chess, naval combat, sword-fighting, cake-baking competitions, etc.), end, if the RPers involved are unable to come up with a mutually acceptable conclusion. I should not end up killing off your characters, though, but try to make sure that your own characters' actions do not force that to be the only logical conclusion.
2. You can be related to powerful nobles. You can even design whole royal families and nations, up to their loyal servants as well. However, any attempt by your characters to use outside influences or links to influence academy events will require approval. Even then, the end result may not what you might be looking for...
3. While there's certainly a world of politics out there, they will not affect our characters that much. Except in some key cases. I will occasionally ask if anyone wants their character to be subjected to an event caused by external forces. For example, an assassin is sent on their life. Or their home nation falls to invasion or civil war.
4. Any magic is usually subtle. Usually. There are no non-human races. The Patriarchate of Ravenna loathes magic, so try not to get too much attention. Even the son of an emperor will not be immune to the Patriarchate's attentions, and any attempt to capture or kill said son will probably drown the Academy in blood.
5. Characters will be of ages roughly 16 to 25. They will study for 4 years here. To make sure this RP doesn't get caught in a quagmire, I will keep an in-story calendar and clock and try to jog the time along when little of consequence is happening. Most lessons will require little posting, except for special activities.
6. Character development is important. I will not be seeing your aloof badass prince come in here and leave as the same aloof badass prince with a wife and a huge harem.
7. Each character, no matter how powerful or influential their family, can only bring in one servant as a personal assistant in the academy. This servant may not be in class with the character except in cases where a character cannot cope in class without them (like a blind or deaf character). Of course... this doesn't apply to servants outside of the Academy.
Pardon me for such a long rule list. I hope you're still interested.

Yup! *rubs hands together evilly*
Although I'm new so liable to fluff anything up.
I'm definitely interested in this. Uhh, not much else to say really.
I needed to change my signature. So I did. Wasn't that a fantastic story?
Oh I find myself interested in this. Count me in.
Never hath I but a soul to love, The rest with a soul, spry as a dove My life, adrift on a stormy sea Sorrow the swells, yon sweet nepethe What be'st the reason thou hast left me? Tired grows my heart, with the passing hour. The globe would I choose in hopes to scour For a wisp, a chance, to see joy's face again. Now, cold mist of hate, my only friend, My final adieu, to whom I send.

I'm definitely down for this.
Interested.
And it's just like me to let you down,
to walk away and fool around.
I decided to revive this interest check.
Who's interested? And who's still interested?
Still interested.
And it's just like me to let you down,
to walk away and fool around.
