    The New Age

((Hello everyone, I'm going to ask that you all visit the OOC before posting, that is, if you wish to join. http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...99#post8794999 ))

A steady exhalation is the only noise to be heard for quite a ways, her eyelids shut to hide her eyes from the world. Or rather... hide the world from her. A breeze runs its stealthy fingers through the leaves above her, causing her eyes to flit open, her blood coloured orbs darting about above her, trying to find the source of what had stolen the silence. Finding nothing, she cowers close to the dirt ridden ground, the faded shades of her blanket smudged with the filth, as well as splashes of a dried, red fluid. A lump in her throat had formed, but only she could tell that it was there. It was caused by the ever growing fear, which sends a twisting feeling down to the pits of her stomach. Her blood encrusted fingernails dig into the dirt below her, her pale fingers trembling violently.

The rise and fall of her chest exceeds the normal speed it usually meets, her heart thumping wildly within her chest cavity. She couldn't figure out what this emotion is, nor why it does all of these things to her. All of it seems new. A sudden aromatic scent rises up to fill her blunt senses, and her head turns one way then the other, an attempt at finding the source of this new smell. Her vision slowly turns to her legs, across the center of the right thigh, a large gnash is visible, the red flowing down her pale skin and staining the pearly shade of her skirt. She dips her fingers in the small pool of liquid, bringing her hand to her face. She sniffs it cautiously, but definitely with curiosity. Slowly, her tongue slides across her fingertips, the taste of blood and dirt making her gag and she shakes her head vigorously, her lips puckered as if she'd eaten something bitter.

Another noise distracts her, her face shedding its look of disgust, and contorting into a fear filled expression. Her body shudders and goosebumps erupt across her skin. She couldn't bring herself to turn and face the creature who was certainly breathing down her neck, as she's frozen in place.

A small groan was heard throughout the small clearing as a soild figure made his way out of a opening in a fallen tree, his makeshift home being wet and dirty was the cause of the sigh as the figure leaned his head back pinching the bridge of his nose. As usual his head was pounding like it was taking a hammer to it, his mind wondering once again who he was and why this blasted headache wouldn't just go away.

One last small sigh escaped the males lips as the splitting pain in his head subsided for the time being. His violet gaze falling to the area around him as he took in his surroundings wondering where he could either pick something to eat or catch his food the old fashion way. His frown etched farther down his face as he again realized that he could remember how to do anything physical or involving his weapons he carried with him but not anything concerning his identity or memories.

"Might as well head out and see if I can catch my breakfast this morning." A few minutes of scuffling could be heard as he emerged with his twin blades belted at his waist, a small bow strung over his shoulder. His hand reached up to smooth back the mess of silver hair he had obtained from the restless night of sleep he had the previous night, his other hand resting on the hilt of his left blade's hilt a nervous tick he had developed in the past few weeks as he travelled the country side.

It was all so weird here - not so different from the last place, if she remembered correctly, but still there was something in the air. The slightly tattered overcoat flowed in the breeze which also brought the smell of blood to the wolf demon's sharp nose. Her ears perked up while a little growl escaped from her throat. Misao - or Inazuma whichever you wanted to call her - had not been a stranger to blood. She had spilt the blood of others and had gotten her own blood spilled many times. It was in the demon's nature to be curious and once again she began following the scent of blood.

She moved like the bolt of lightning that had given a name for her whilst amplifying the power of her legs with demonic energy and soon found what she only could guess was a girl barely past her tenth year - maybe thirteen or so - and some... thing. She didn't bother to check what it actually was. Misao spat on the ground and unseathed the large sword from her back.

The unholy warrior's single eye cracks open, glancing around as he attempts to get his bearings. He had a splitting headache, but was accustomed to pain. Where the hell did that damnable wizard send me? I should have taken his head while I had the chance. Thank Vecna I am still a tangible being.

He was surrounded by trees. So many trees. Must be in some forest. At least it's not a damned temple. At the sound of a soft groan, Lucian rose to his feet, the joints of his armor clanking softly with his movements. He tilts his head from side to side, the tendons in his neck cracking at the movements, and rolls his large shoulders, spiked pauldrons rotating with the motion. He puts an unsteady foot in front of him, the step falling with an audible clank as he begins advancing towards the sound, unsheathing his greatsword as his pace becomes more surefooted and the wooziness of the planeshift fades. He shifts his tower shield in front of him, single eye peering over the edge, and starts to run, his steps cracking twigs in his his rush.

The beast, appearing as a large, furry animal, with many feline features. It snarls at the girl, who so uninvitedly stumbled upon this creature's territory. As the large, furry beast opens its maw of razor teeth, it catches the scent of yet another female. Whipping its head towards her, the creature realizes this one appears to be somewhat dangerous, and slowly backs away from the girl, keeping its glare in place on the new comer.

The child stands up slowly, the fear in her still as strong as ever, and staggers painfully away from where she once was, turning slightly as she leans against a tree, her blanket tight in her grip. Looking down, she flinches at the sight of blood running down her pale legs, dripping steadily from the large cut that runs deeply across her knee, up to her mid thigh. A white sliver is visible, showing that whatever had harmed her went deep, slashing through her skin and muscle tissue. She slowly turns her gaze upwards, catching the glint of the animal's glossy hues. Their striking green would have been gorgeous, had it been on a different, less dangerous creature. Slowly, she begins to make out what it is, her goosebumps returning and she gasps. It might've been considered a werewolf, except for its almost human-like hands, the only portion not covered in raven coloured fur. Its tensed face seems rather...dog-like, as does its tail. Assessing a gender is almost impossible, at least, from her position it proves to be a difficult task to carry out.

A noise gains her attention now, and she makes out a figure, a woman at that. Clutching her blanket close to her chest, the child's wide eyed stare settles upon her. She has a weapon... Is she going to hurt me...? Her own thoughts cause the kid to worry, her crimson orbs showing every ounce of emotion she feels, now. Slowly, she begins to realize that the woman is here to save her from the beast, rather than harm her. She sighs in relief, although not positive on her thoughts, she feels them to be more accurate.

The emerald hues of the creature shimmer with blood lust and it carefully travels just behind a cluster of thick foliage, but making sure its partially seen. Its dark tail twitches behind its crouching form, lazily flicking at the overgrowth. Charcoal ears lower close to a dark head, a menacing growl escaping from the back of its throat. Without further hesitation, the animal lunges towards the armed female, the long, blood encrusted claws of it's almost human hands swipe at the woman's face and neck. However, by doing this, it leaves itself unprotected.

-a few hours later- "Blasted animal, why can't you just let me catch you and eat you?" For the third that day a sigh of annoyance spilled out of the young mans mouth as he was kneeling down next to a set of seemingly feline tracks but with strange quality to them, of which he could not describe at the moment. His violet eyes skillfully noticed the tracks were becoming fresher as he continued to stalk his pray. His mind wandered about what sort of creature could make such strange tracks, nothing he had ever come across.

As he stood up his sensitive hearing would catch the telltale signs of movement up ahead. He quickly stood up, checking his equipment he would race off toward the sounds upheld. His pace faulted as his headache back for a few moments but disappearing before he could comment. He shrugged his shoulders and picked his pace back up. In the next few moments he came across a curious scene of his pray appearing to be corning a small child. His gaze quickly passed of the small child as it settled on the strange looking animal, his eyes hardening as he took survey of the situation. He was about to jump into the area until his eyes caught sight of what appeared to be a well armed woman. He relaxed a bit and decided to wait and see what woman would do.

As he turned his gaze back onto the small child fully for the first time his mind went instantly blank as what felt like a knife was being drove into his skull as the previous headache returned to him tenfold. He was immediately on the ground, the scene before him long forgotten as his hand began clawing at his he's in a desperate attempt to relive some of the immense pain he was currently feeling. His pain so great his own instincts were ignoring the sounds of a new comer off to his side as he continued to roll around on the ground, grunting sounds of pain escaping the males clenched teeth.

At moments like these even the smallest sign of hesitation could cost you your life. Still Misao waited for the large creature to charge at her before making her move. To her suprise she hadn't quite been fast enough - the swordswoman had leant back a fraction of a second too late whilst using her right hand to bring the sword swiftly towards the wolflike creature in front of her.

The swing to the side had been followed by a quick stab. The blade had sunk in the wolflike creature's shoulder - not quite leathal, but atleast it would slow the creature down. It was now when Misao noticed that her cheek was bleeding. The golden eyes which had moments ago still been wide and warm were now filled with rage - icy cold rage at that. The wolf demon growled - the message was clear, if the creature had any form of sanity it would back away.

With a little movement the wolf demon pulled the sword back and took proper hold of the hilt with both hands. She began concentrating her energy on the blade and soon the pressure of demonic energy began eminating from the allready sharp object. "Come at me or leave us in peace..." Misao forced a little grin to decorate her bleeding face. She reckonned the wound was a minor one - though the amount of blood that seeped out was rather worrying.

With a roar, the antipaladin bull rushes into the clearing. His one eye sweeps the gathered beings critically. Girl. Race unknown. Unarmed. Can't be too threatening. Big damned monster. Doesn't feel undead. Hostile. Needs to die. Woman. Armed. Pretty good fighter and that appears to be some sort of unholy energy. Goooooood. Hm? Elf...dark elf? Oh, a Drow. What an intriguing group. First thing's first, I suppose.
By the time his though had completed, he's crossed the field, his greatsword over his head, tower shield pulling to the side before snapping outwards, a hoarse battle cry joining the muted thud of his shield's impact on the snarling beast's hindquarters. The blow throws it to its feet with the snap of a bone. Must have been one of its legs. Momentum doing what it does best, the unholy warrior barely has time to vault over the creature and roll to his feet, pivoting back to face it with a laugh.

The beast howls in agony, it's blood spraying from its new wound. There is hardly time to notice the newest male, before its struck again, slumping to the ground from the force. Unable to walk as it once did, it lays still, attempting to recover form the blows. The animal pants softly, emerald hues glaring at the two. The creature, hardly caring for the woman's words limps forward, its pain-filled expression visible as it swipes at her abdomen with clawed hands, using as much of its animalistic strength as possible. It put just about everything into the blow, and it certainly was NOT backing down. Although, it knew it was outnumbered, and likely to die here, it wouldn't go down without dealing its fair share of damage.

The pink-haired child stares open mouthed at the scene, as violence was something she hadn't expected. More shock fills her as a male swings into view. She sinks to the ground, hardly noticing that her leg's become numb. The amount of blood she's lost is incredible, as well as the fact that its continuously flowing, but she couldn't feel it anymore. She still, somehow, doesn't realize what blood is exactly, nor does she think she'll ever find out. For all she knows, these people would leave as soon as the beast is slain, then she would be all alone again, back to where she had started.

Blinding, numbing pain was slowly subsiding as the young drow picked himself up as the pain settled into a slow throb. A low groan slipped into the air as he stood up shaking his head, his senses instantly takin notice of the situation. With little thought the elf rushed over throwing himself in front of the child, his blades appearing in his hands as if they were their the entire time. His figure bending low over the child as he took a firm protective stance between her and the beast, his violet eyes burning with unrivaled rage at the attack. A soft yet demanding an powerful voice broke the air over the pair as the he spoke up to the small female. "Do not worry, I will not allow any harm to come to you."
