The Youth of the Nation (Runaway tragedy)

This is a story of a group of kids, from different walks of life, who are drawn together by fate and tragedy.
Those of the faint of heart should not continue.

A pistol, a broken and scared child, a moment... it was all it took to break apart a community. The shooting was a national tragedy, but no one could feel the reverberations quite like the kids that were there. No one remembered the faces like the witnesses, who could see the fear, the regret, and the pain of the victims. The sound of a gun sounds different in a school hallway, and lives echo farther when you watch them fade.

A group of witnesses and survivors, all younger than 17, are traumatized. They can't stand to live in a cold, broken place any longer. They are prepared to leave, and protect themselves from tragedy. Some are abused, some are homeless, some are alive because of another person's sacrifice. Whatever the reason, they are all a part of a family now.

Everyone has something to remind them of home. Somebody might have a photo, some may keep a journal, and many memorize a phone number. They don't want to completely let go. They're only kids, after all.

The children soon find more runaways, more kids. They realize the whole world is cold, cruel, and unloving.
