    Books are fun!

Morning, everyone! I didn't see a recent post like this on here, so I decided to make one. I read all the time, so if you need a book suggestion or have one to share, post it here! Comics, too.
Right now, I'm reading "Homeland," by Cory Doctrow. It's the sequel to "Little Brother." They're fantastic techy-sc-fi stuff, and totally badass. I would reccomend them to anyone who likes "The True Meaning of Smekday," which is also really fantastic, and about an alien named J. Lo.

I just started the complete works of HP Lovecraft. Reading is quite enjoyable, I find. I also dislike the idea of E-books and what not, because there's really nothing like having a physical, textile book in your hands and having a well-stocked bookshelf. Yes, it's nice to be able to carry so much on one of those E-readers, be able to read in the dark because it's back lit, and be able to travel without carrying a large, hefty book that takes up a lot of room, but it doesn't feel the same.

I probably get through a book or two every month if I'm reading only at meals. If it's a good one, I can finish it in a night if I can't put the damn thing down.

Agreed! I've never read anything by Lovecraft, but I've heard he's good. Is he like Poe? Love him. I usually get through at least one book a week.

Poe was one of Lovecraft's influences, you can see it in the early stories in particular. Even at 14, the guy was a really good writer. Although in the first story, he ended it with triple exclamation points and he's fond of putting italics in sentences to stress things to make the reader know that it's a big deal. Still fun, though!

I don't read non-fiction very often. I do like historical fiction, though, and non-fiction books that are put together like a novel.

Some historical fiction novels I'm super fond of are by David L. Robins, he does a lot of WWII stuff that's based around real people and events. His one book, War of the Rats, was what the movie Enemy at the Gates was loosely based off of.

I tend to read a variety of stuff, I like both fiction and non-fiction. I have another book on the go which is basically an overview of the 100 worst atrocities in human history, another which a journalist recounts his time in Afghanistan with Canadian Troops, and I have quite a few other books along similar lines. For fiction, I usually like to read suspense, thrillers, graphic novels, some sci-fi and fantasy, and depending on the franchise, books based off of game series. The Gears of War novels are absolutely stellar, you'd never expect it given how the games don't exactly have a reputation for deep characters or storytelling. Pretty much, if it's recommended, I'll check it out.

I love to read as a hobby more then anything. I have been reading the Game Of Thrones and finally on "Dance of Dragons" I try to read the books before the series comes out or in movies. So, that leads me to a question, does anyone nominate a book that should be in a series or in the movies? I adore the lore in "The Sympathy of Ages "by Elizabeth Haydon and think it would be an awesome series. First hard core series of books I have read when I was young that has giving me inspiration as a writer.
