    Medieval/Fantasy Roleplay - Advanced.

    Hey all,
I've just created a roleplay called The Blight over in the advanced roleplay forum. The story is based along the storyline of Dragon Age: Origins BUT you don't have to have played the game to join. There's a lot of information on the page and I think that's what's putting people off joining but it's really just more of an information guide for when people are writing up their bios and posts. Once you read through it once and get the basic gist, that's all that matters. You can forget everything you've read once you've read through it once. I'll be guiding everyone through the roleplay and the storyline is already set out. There's two premade characters I need people to join as before we begin. I really hope this piques some interest because it would be a really good roleplay once it gets going. If I can even get one person to join as Alistair then I'm willing to make it a 1x1.

Here's the link if anyone's interested.

For me, fantasy type RPs are the best because there is a heightened opportunity for free roaming. Unless the mod has a hard line plot to cover, it is easier to do your own thing.

Reading a ton of information is generally not a problem. I would assume by looking at your thread, that what is discouraging folks from joining is the way you have the information organized. Try putting spaces between paragraphs, including quotes of different characters. Use the hider tag to compartmentalize the information. That way, folks to can go immediately to that section they need to read at the moment. A Hider tag looks like this:

You can put that together by writing the hider tags as follows, without the unnecessary spaces.

[ hide r = Character Sheet ]Bio Template: Character Sheet
    Name:
    Age: (between 18 and 30)
    Gender:
    Species: (Human, Dwarf or Elf)
    Class: (Warrior, Rogue or Mage)
Personality: (Give me a good bit of detail, please. If you're playing one of the Essential Characters, just eloborate a little on what I've posted above.)
History: (Some detail but you don't have to write an essay if you don't want to. If you're an Essential Character, you can more or less just copy and paste from above.)
Looks: (Real pictures. No drawings or anime. Descriptions if you have no pictures.)
Other: (Anything else I need to know? Think of a few things, please.)[/hider]

Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to offer it to me. In the original document I'd written it up on I had indentations for dialogues and new paragraphs but it seems not to have transferred over. I'll definitely add in some of the hider tags. Thank you again.

You are welcome. I'll take a read through and see if I'm interested.

So is this basically RP-ing through the whole DAO game?

I'm potentially interested, though it really depends on whether you will change it from the original game or leave much of the storyline the same. I've played through DAO like...ten times or so, so I know the verse and the original plot very well.

I can take the role of Morrigan, if I join.

Essentially, yes. It'll follow through the main storyline but it wont be a strict follow-along due to the fact that we'll have new characters and people that have never played the game before. I'm sure there'll be plenty of side quests that new non-canon characters will bring into play. It would be great if you joined as Morrigan, but I understand if you've played the game so much that you would be more interested in something different to what you're used to. Let me know, anyway

Well, DAO is my favorite game and I've yet to grow sick of playing it, so I'm in.

I assume that I have all the motivations and abilities of canon!Morrigan?

I'm actually getting really excited about this. Morrigan is one of the most fun characters in DAO.

It'll also be interesting to see how you'll manage to include someone who, for example, wants to play a Dalish elf, without first meeting his/her clan, or a dwarf of Orzammar, who should not be on the surface without being exiled.

Also, I couldn't help but notice: in the bio of Desmond Cain, he says that he's exiled from the Circle. Considering his background story, the Templars would have killed him long ago, or he's an apostate.

Great, that's good news I love Morrigan, too. She cracks me up big time lol. It's nice to have someone play her that knows exactly what she's like

Yeah, you'll have all of her motivations and abilities. If there's anything you want to add, however, go ahead

I know, but I feel like it was my fault for not explaining about the Templars and the Circle Mages in more detail. It seems like he hasn't actually done any blood magic or anything in front of anyone else so it should be ok. We could have the Templars searching for him once we get further into the roleplay. I didn't want to be too strict on people who haven't played the game before.
