Does this forum host a annual Hall of Fame ceremony everything? If not, is there any plans to? I think it would be a good idea .
This is a writing site, not a competition. Hall of Fames will result in inevitable elitists and attention whores.
And we already have enough of those as is, no need to put a ribbon around them and hang them on a wall.

What would the point of that be other than to piss people off and create a false sense of entitlement for those chosen and a very real feeling of rejection for those who were not? This is an awful, potentially guild wrecking idea. You want recognition? Enter one of the contests.

I don't see what the big deal is. It is suppose to reward people who done something good on the forum and suppose to be fun. You proably got attention whores in the contents here but they still go the hell on, so why not a Hall of Fame? Just a game in the end .
Because people end up taking it too seriously, in both directions.
Pulled into war to serve a vision;
That's supposed to last a thousand years.
Part of a machine;
Unstoppable, as merciless as tidal waves.
'The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser men so full of doubts.' - Bertrand Russell
'We are not interested in the possibilities of defeat; they do not exist. ' - Queen Victoria.

'O quam cito transit gloria mundi - How quickly the glory of the world passes away.' - Thomas à Kempis
'The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it.' - Josef Mengele
'One is left with the horrible feeling now that war settles nothing; that to win a war is as disastrous as to lose one' - Agatha Christie.
'Those who believe absurdities will commit atrocities.' - Voltaire
'I have resolved never to start an unjust war but never to end a legitimate one except by defeating my enemies.' - Charles XII of Sweden
'I have no intention of shooting myself for that Bohemian corporal.' - Generalfeldmarschall Fredrich Paulus.
'History is a tangled skein that one may take up at any point, and break when one has unravelled enough.' - Henry Adams
'Es gibt keine verzweifelten Lagen, es gibt nur verzweifelte Menschen - There are no desperate situations, there are only desperate people.' - Generaloberst Heinz Guderian
'We are forlorn like children, and experienced like old men, we are crude and sorrowful and superficial—I believe we are lost.' - Erich Maria Remarque
'Only he is lost who gives himself up for lost.' - Oberst Hans-Ulrich Rudel
'In a man to man fight, the winner is he who has one more round in his magazine.' - Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel
'Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.'
-The Charge of the Light Brigade (Alfred Tennyson)
'If any question why we died, tell them, 'Because our fathers lied.'' - Rudyard Kipling
And why? Because, firstly, the entries are anonymous. People voting on a piece of writing/art is just a little bit different from voting on which member is best suited for the title of ____, since the latter is really nothing more than a personality contest where you really are just voting for which members, personally are "the best", as opposed to anonymously judging someone's talent. Also, titling someone "Queen of RPG" can make heads swell a bit more than saying "your short story won this contest this month".
Also, you'll of course get people saying "______ only won because she's popular and lots of people know her! Not because she's talented!" or whatever. Which really... makes sense. People will vote for the people they like, so therefore who often visit Off-Topic and are seen more in the non-roleplaying sections of the site (like Spammers, etc) will inevitably get more votes than someone who's never left the main roleplaying sections, since logically not many people would know them other than their roleplaying buddies, and the contest takes place on the Off-Topic-ish parts of the site, anyway, so lesser-known roleplayers practically don't stand a chance, no matter how good of a roleplayer/writer/artist/person they are.
And as you seem to have been missing, this sort of thing has been tried before. I wasn't there for it, but I hear it was somewhat of a disaster. The forum's closed off now, although I'm pretty sure it's still technically accessible even if you can't post on it or see it from the site index, like Persistent World, and I think I've accessed it once before. Ah, here it is! Feel free to sort out this mess for yourself.
WOTM #25 Voting Threads are up! Come vote for your favorites in the Casual and Advanced Voting Threads!!
A highly successful roleplay thread of mine that I have made into a fanfiction! It's about a bunch of anime characters coming to life in the real world, and a group of those characters are then found by a trio of otaku girls! And while they're trying to figure out how their fictional little friends got there in the first place, a mysterious group emerges called Operation Anime, whose goal is to wipe out all the characters that exist in the real world!
Link to the story on FanFiction here.
Also be sure to check out the manga based on the fic by OverlordRoo! Link to it here on SmackJeeves.
