    It's Not A Mistake [ WhispersWolf x Dimitri ]

And there he was again. New town, new people, new places. How exciting.

Moving wasn't uncommon for Jay. He had to do it quite often in fact; after all, if he stayed too long in one place, the risk of someone finding out he was the reason behind all the bad luck that suddenly overcame their city only grew higher. He did enjoy tempting fate; but not to this degree. It'd be too bothersome, plus they could cast him back into Hell permanently and never let him crawl back out again. Now that would be inconvenient. Not that Hell was such a bad place - but there wasn't anyone to tease, play mind games with, torture from behind the scenes. Ah, his lovely little humans.

Finally done with the general unpacking, Jay threw himself at the black leather couch and stretched his sore arms. It was just past twelve in the afternoon; really not that late. He couldn't possibly waste the day lazing about - he had to get familiar with his new territory. For a few moments, he just lay there, staring at the ceiling and inwardly motivating himself to get up. Finally, he raised himself, ran a hand through his wild albino hair, then got up and walked over to the window. Hmm, it looked to be quite a sunny, warm day - why the hell was this place so cold, then? Or was his long-sleeved button up shirt not enough? Yes, the material was fairly thin, but still, it should have been enough to keep him at least a bit warm, especially in this weather.

Grabbing his black jacket from one of the dining chairs as shivers ran down his spine, Jay shoved it on and cringed. The man hated cold temperatures - naturally. It was early summer though, so he looked forward to the scorching heat that he was sure would follow in the next few weeks. The thought relieved him somehow and he quickly collected his keys off the table, stealing a glance at himself from the medium-sized mirror that stood propped against the wall, still covered in see-through foil. Yep, presentable.

Twelve something - wasn't that the time most people would have their lunch breaks? Perfect. Time to spy. The albino exited his flat, locked the doors and started making his way down the stairs, ignoring the sudden drop in temperature. Was this building's AC broken or something?

It was the middle of the week, and normally Zachary would be off volunteering at some soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or place for troubled kids, but he had gotten this particular day "off". Why? Because they said he needed a break, and other volunteers could show up and help out. He sighed a little; that was the big thing for him; he often tried to help out too much in one place, and people tended to get suspicious; especially if he did a lot of work with kids. Setting down his mug of coffee he yawned and rubbed at his eyes with one hand while the other held a newspaper. Why was it so uncommon for mortals to want to help those of their own kind? He didn't understand it quite yet. Zachary had been down here for quite a while, having left Heaven and shedding most of what he knew as an Angel to try and help restore balance to the world below.

Perhaps he had been foolish to think he could do so, alone. Then again, he did not know if he was really alone; after all, He always spoke of little helpers down on earth, didn't he? And the few humans who thought to help themselves out? Zachary was sad there wasn't more. Looking at the watch on his wrist, he sighed and leaned back in his chair. Just past noon. He had already slept in, which was not normal for him; what else was he going to do with the rest of his day? He looked up and out the window of his apartment, and then acted on a whim as it struck him.

Grabbing his own keys off the table, he headed out of his apartment in a nice pair of jeans and t-shirt; he would go down to that bakery that was just down the street. He had drunk his coffee for the day, but had nothing to go with it. Now, that wasn't right. He left without a jacket, seeing that it looked like a nice enough day; besides he was warmer than usual for some reason. Zax though nothing of it as he headed for the exit to the complex.

Jay didn't like how the cold air swept through his lungs with each inhale, and he hurried his pace, eager to get outside at last and breathe the warm spring air. In his haste, he didn't notice someone there in front of him and as he took a turn around the stairs, he bumped against them. The albino hissed at the stabbing cold that ran through his body at the contact, and he glared at the person, ready to yell and scold.

But no, temper. This was probably one of his neighbours, and he really didn't want to have a bad reputation starting from day one. Besides, it was technically Jay's fault for bumping into him first. "Ah, sorry, didn't see you there," he murmured lowly, then eyed the male up properly and was surprised to see his hair was a shade of white. He frowned, was that dye? White was such an uncommon colour for humans to dye their hair, he'd only seen it a few times before, and it was one of the reasons he chose to have it.

Zax hadn't nearly been in as much of a rush as he headed downstairs, feeling quite warm and even a little lethargic as he made his way down the stairs. Was the summer heat this great already? His mind wandered as the warmth made him a little tired, and thought about how he should check his mail, even though there was probably nothing in it. Lost in thought, he didn't hear the footsteps of another person hurrying down the stairs until they were right on top of him. Okay, maybe not on top of, but not until they ran into him and he gasped as searing heat crossed his spine where the man hit him. He staggered forward a few steps from the sudden pain, and caught himself on a wall.

He leaned on the wall for a little bit, waiting for searing pain to subside, and shook his head to clear his mind when it eventually did. Turning slowly, Zax looked at the person who ran into him; and found himself looking at man. He blinked his blue-teal eyes a few times, taking in the fact that this man also had white hair. He smiled as best as he could, and ran a hand through his hair absent-mindedly, not recognizing the man before him. "That's quite alright, quite alright; no harm done." He did look the man over once more, confirming to himself that he didn't recognize him. He knew just about everyone in this complex, so this man had to be new.

"Are you new to the complex? I thought I heard someone moving things into the building earlier..." he saw the man frown, and wondered what it was for. Was he offending him or something? He looked innocently confused as he waited for the man to respond, having forgotten about the pastries to go with his finished coffee.

Jay straightened up, walking down the stairs to be level with the man. His odd-eyes flickered between the male's hair, and the albino openly eyed him up, memorizing the man's appearance. "Mm," he murmured, then realized that response wasn't helpful. "I mean, yes, I just moved in today," he corrected himself, gaze finally settling on the man's eyes. What a strange shade they were. "I'm Jay," he added after a moment, and hesitated before reaching out his arm to exchange handshakes with the man. "Is the AC broken or something? My flat feels like it has frozen over," he inquired, another small frown on his face. He hadn't been notified of any building work going on around the flat, or anything else of that sort, and he didn't know why else the AC would break.

    [sorry, muse is low.]

Zax noted that the man was looking him over quite openly, and felt a little exposed; the heat wasn't helping much at all, and he stuffed his hands into his pockets to maintain a sense of closure. He didn't like being quite so openly ogled; at least not when he was noticing. However, with all the visual scanning the man was doing, he had a chance to notice the heterochromia in the mans eyes. It awed him a little, as he had never seen a person with bi-coloured eyes. Zax knew there was a possibility, as much as he knew that his own eyes were a mix of blue and green, but he had never really seen it, and took the advantage of getting a good look while the man was not paying attention.

Noting the mans lack of response he frowned faintly with his soft lips, though that quickly changed when the man chose to speak words in place of a murmur. "I see, that would explain why I don't believe I've seen you before." He smiled softly, as the man locked eyes with him. He wondered if he noticed that his own eyes were a bit strange as well. "It's quite possible that there is something up with the air circulation in the flat; or perhaps the AC is broken. It could be whats causing extreme cold in your flat, and the fact that mine is warm as a summer day."

Zax reached out to shake the hand Jay offered, with a soft gesture. "Nice to meet you, Jay. My name is Zaaaax--" he pulled back his hand as when he brushed fingertips with the man a sudden burning sensation flew from his fingertips up his arm. He shook it a little, murmuring a soft "Ow..."

    ((that's fine. No rush. :3))

A summer day, huh... Jay paused at those words, a strange thought popping into his head. Surely, it couldn't be that this man was..? Ah, but they were so rare around the earth, what were the chances? It was probably the building's air conditioner, nothing more, nothing less. There was no need to worry over it.

Then suddenly he found himself hissing in pain again and flinching away as his skin made contact with the man's. The albino cringed at the icy spark that was sent through his body from his fingertips, and looked over at the man with a mix of confusion and suspicion. "Zax," he repeated under his nose, eyeing his neighbour up. Yet after a pause, he shook his head in denial, a small smile easing onto his face. "Sorry, that was probably static electricity," he murmured, hoping to convince both himself and the man. The thought of how much trouble living with a damn saint would bring already gave him a headache, and he didn't even want to consider it.

"Well, I'm off to explore the area," Jay announced, having decided to change topics, and pushed his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Know any good cafes or other such places?" he inquired with a friendly voice, wanting to ease the tension away.

The heat that had run up his arm from his hand had suddenly made Zax a little suspicious. What about his human would make him feel extreme amounts of heat when he touched him? He was very confused, and it took a moment, but then there was a thought. Maybe this man wasn't... but he couldn't be for sure right now; he had to watch him some more, and spend more time with him to be sure of anything. Zax was known for giving people the benefit of the doubt. The hissing the man gave off was a bit of a hint, but maybe that was just something he did; he had seen others do it before that were no more than humans. He listened to his voice as the other man, Jay, said his name, or at least the cut off version of his name, and sensed nothing odd from him.

"Right right," he spoke light-heartedly and ran the hand through his hair again. "That had to have been it, haha. It sure felt like a spark. Sorry about that. I probably drag my feet too much when I walk." he wasn't totally convinced that it was static, because of the heat that came with it, but he sure wasn't going to tell this stranger that. He didn't want to think about what this person -could- be, so he just figured that he would let it go, and just remember that touching this man was a no-no. When Jay spoke of going to explore, he actually stood up a little straighter, and his eyes brightened a little. "Actually, I do! I mean, well, I was going to go to the bakery down the street and if you'd like to join me, you could?"

((you had the EXACT same idea I did, xD with the static, that is))

[ ha xD I didn't know what else to blame it on and the thought kinda came to mind randomly, heh.]

At the man's words, Jay felt himself cheer up. At least he was acting normally and he didn't seem too bothered. From the brief gossip he'd hear from the few demonic friends he had, the angels on earth were overly strict and cold - what a pun. Zax seemed more relaxed than strict however, and that gave Jay hope that maybe he was just a human after all.

"Sure, that sounds great," he nodded, accepting the invitation. It was a little unexpected, but it gave the albino the possibility of both exploring the city, as well as learning a bit more about Zax. "Lead the way," he offered, stepping aside with a smile to let the man take the lead.

Zax had been living among humans from this area for the longest. He had watched them, and tried to learn as much as he could. He was attempting to blend in after all, wasn't he? He knew his offering to go to the bakery had been a little risky, but in lieu of a house-warming gift, which was very intimate, he thought this would do, at the very least. He wasn't going to push the man, but was glad when he accepted his invitation. Zax nodded at Jay a little as Jay told him to lead the way, and while he was used to offering his 'guests' the front, he sensed in this situation it would have been inappropriate and he took the lead.

Desending the last bit of stairs, he did pause for a moment to check his mail. When nothing peaked his interest, he stuffed the couple of articles back into the box and locked it all up again. "Mail, obviously. I volunteer, and sometimes I get important stuff in here. But I suppose you knew this was here." he chuckled a little nervously all of a sudden, and shivered a little despite the heat. He pushed open the door to the complex and headed out onto the sidewalk, giving Jay a few seconds to catch up before going down the sidewalk. "Welcome to the city. It's not the most glamorous, but its home, I suppose. "
