Life was tough before the GE, you had to get crafty with your money.

I loved pre-GE runescape. The game had a real wild west feel to it. If you were smart you could make it stack. If you were dumb you got done over; a lot.

I remember luring people to the monks of Zammok, having them steal the wine, and loot their body.

The GE did bring about a new era, didn't it?

Also made it easier to make money; buy for low, sell for high. Don't even have to pay attention to it.

The GE does have advantages, it just kind of took all the fun out of making money by means of a merchant.

I remember persuading people to protect me whilst i mined Runite. Then i got tough friends to come and kill them in exchange for some of the loot and all i had to do was mine.

Oh yea that was great. You could haggle and barter. I think world 2 was the popular world where people would go just to sell stuff at the Varrock bank.

Yeah, and after a while you start to get known as a trader and make contacts with other seller people. You have your own little spot and a bit of banter with everybody. Was great.
