Star Wars: Night Fury (Hotshot and EvilScottishGuy)

    Silara Rudder, Kalak's Fin
    Above Deretta, Deretta System

    "Silara, get up here!"

The voice of the Kalak's Fin's captain, Gwinoeh Sihal, reached Silara's ears over the thump-thump-thump which was battering the ship. Silara thought about reaching over and hitting the intercom to reply, but shook her head, growled with annoyance, and headed for the cockpit. She was not annoyed with Gwinoeh, not really, but the situation was not ideal, and it was something she had warned her captain about coming to Deretta. She had been here before; he had not. She had experienced the pirates who operated here; he had not. And now, he was going to pay the price for it; with any luck, she would not.

She reached the cockpit of the freighter in less than thirty seconds, coming through the doorway to find Gwinoeh sweating as his hands worked the controls anxiously, trying to coax and guide the Kalak's Fin out of harm's way; from what Silara was seeing, feeling, and hearing, he was not doing too good of a job.

"Don't just stand there!" Gwinoeh snapped at her. "Get on the comm and call for help!"

"Right away," Silara muttered. She better not die or get captured by these pirates, or Gwinoeh would be paying for it. She was not sure how, but she would find a way. Sitting down in the co-pilot's chair, Silara opened up a wide comm channel and began repeating, "Any ship, any ship, this is the Kalak's Fin. Mayday, mayday, we are under attack by pirates." She was not hopeful that anyone would hear them and be able to respond in time, but she would take any help they could get, even Imperials; the Kalak's Fin would not hold out for much longer.

    Luke Ortello

Luke had been just clearing for takeoff when he heard the distress call from the speakers, he didn't really want to get into the middle of a conflict with himself as the only pilot but he knew for a fact there was no Imperial or Local Security ships nearby, and if it was bad enough to send out a distress signal, then it was urgent. As he lifted the gear on takeoff he moved the slider for repulsorlift controls to full. The ship trembled as the inertial dampeners tried to compensate within atmosphere. Keying in he turned on the shielding and prepared...

Soon he had entered orbit and saw the ship running from what looked like three pirate ships, two fighters a gunboat and he couldn't see it but there was no doubt a freighter standing by for the conflict to be over to deploy either a boarding party or pickup the mess. An alarm tolled as he entered combat range, of course an average Consular had no combat range, but this was no average consular. He keyed a button and three hatches opened as three quad turrets lifted out of the hull.

Luke just took a moment to calibrate the targeting system to ensure that the damaged ship identifying itself as the Kalak's Fin, a stupid name for a ship, did not get targeted. As he got closer the turrets fired in short bursts, to ensure shield strength was not taken in order to compensate for weapons. One of the fighters was taken out in the first bout, the other one began chasing him as he flew past, turning around on the Z-Axis he flew straight at it, clipping it but not taking it out as the gunboat came after him. He felt the ship shake as several of the shots hit home and he swore under his breath, he had just removed the last set of dents he had. He turned to the controls as he dived across the cockpit of the Kalak's Fin and set the bottom turret to focus on the gunboat tailing him as the other two fired another volley at the fighter, effectively taking it out.

The Gunboat sought to stick with it, typical pirates not leaving the battle due to arrogance. Though this gunboat pilot was good, keeping on his tail as he tried to get rid of him. He knew what he had to do, but the ship sure as hell wasn't going to like it. He straightened up the ship as the gunboat tailed him and set all engines and repulsors to full reverse, effectively halting him and sending him backwards, engines towards the gunboat. Although the gunboat had been tailing him so tightly that he did not get a chance to fire off some shots and dived up to avoid crashing into the back of Lukes ship, which gave the turrets the target they needed and he listened as they fired and the ship exploded, sending pieces of debris into his own hull. He retracted the weapons as the Imperials had the knack for turning up after a battle and opened comms to the ship. "Kalak's Fin this is Night Fury, I have no idea what the hell you are doing coming into a sector like this with no weapons, but you're welcome." Luke turned the ship around and began turning to face the freighter again, no doubt they had some other favor they wanted done for free...

Silara heard Gwinoeh grumble something under his breath from his seat next to hers, and allowed herself a small smile. The captain reached forward and keyed the comm so that he could speak and replied, "We had weapons. Damned pirates were sitting here waiting for us, and that was the first thing they took out."

"Thank you very much for your help, though," said Silara before Gwinoeh could cut off the comms. The man turned his head to glare at her. "What?" she asked innocently. "No need to make people annoyed the first time you meet them. Plus, we're going to need some help, or haven't you noticed some of our proximity sensors are down?"

    "So?" asked Gwinoeh.

"Can you fix those?" asked Silara. "I sure can't."

    "Fuck."

Reaching forward, Silara opened the comm and said, "You wouldn't happen to be able to fix proximity sensors, would you? We've got some cargo to deliver to the surface, but we can't land safely without all of those sensors up."

Luke swore under his breath as he opened the comm channel again.

"Depends what kind of airlock you got there, if its one of the new Kuat Drives you're out of luck, my ships Universal air lock was made before that, a while before that. If it is anything else you are in luck and if you have got one of them then I can offer to put you in tow, or I can latch on and cut a hole, I'll leave that all upto you."

At this point, luke was kind of into the whole idea of cutting a hole in this guys ship, though he kinda felt sorry for the girl that was on the ship. Whoever the Captian was, he was going to get her killed one day.

Silara looked at Gwinoeh and shrugged, but Gwinoeh this time keyed the comm and said, "Good thing we're in luck."

"Nothing Kaut on this ship," agreed Silara. "Or new, either," she added for an extra jab at her boss.

Gwinoeh cut the comm back off and said, "Watch it."

"Just a little fun, boss," said Silara. "What do you want me to do about the cargo?"

"What do you mean?" asked Gwinoeh.

"I mean, I assume you don't want him seeing what we've got," said Silara sarcastically.

Sighing, Gwinoeh got up and said, "I'll take care of it. Just bring the ship in to link up with his."

"Got it," said Silara, getting excited. It was on very few occasions that Gwinoeh allowed her to man the controls of the Fin alone, and most of those times were during hyperspace or pre-plotted routes, but she loved flying and took every chance she could get. As Gwinoeh walked out of the cabin, Silara turned on the microphone for the comm again and said, "Night Fury, beginning linkup now." She began to carefully pull the ship off to port, towards the Consular-class.

Luke slowed the Night Fury, his ship was a lot faster so asking their ship to try and match that speed, was asking for a little much. Though there was still an odd question. Sure it was help, but why were they letting him board instead of calling ground control and sending a team up, or even being pulled in tow. They obviously had something worthy on board, enough for pirates to continue the attack even after the Night Fury joined in the fray.

He pulled along side and keyed into the main control panel as the airlock tunnel extended, clipping onto the one that had been extending from the adjacent ship. Walking to the salon pod he opened it, activating five B1 battle droids and one B2, the benefit of living through the clone wars knowing how to use such droids. He put them on patrol, if anyone tried to board his ship while he was out, he'd get a nasty surprise. By this point many people had forgotten about these old kind of droids. He walked back out, picking up several hydro-spanners and then to the airlock, opening his side he walked out into the tunnel to the connection area. All he had to do now was wait for them to open the door...

Silara brought the Fin in gently towards the Consular-class, just barely able to match the other ship's speed as her own vessel limped along, a result of the attack, no doubt, and something they would have to take a look at whenever they landed. Nevertheless, she was able to get the ship into proper position, and with a satisfying clunk, she heard the docking tunnel attached to the airlock of the Fin. Keying the intercom, Silara said, "We've latched on. I'm going to go open up the airlock."

"Alright, just give me a few more minutes before you let him start poking around too much," said Gwinoeh. "And keep your blaster ready."

Silara shook her head as she got up from her chair and headed towards the airlock; what was she, stupid? Yes, this person had helped them and had offered much more help, but she was smart enough to not just blindly trust this person. Her blaster pistol was still firmly in its drop holster with the safety off, ready to be drawn and fired at a moment's notice if this person turned out to just be another pirate who swooped in for an easy kill. With that thought in the back of her mind, she reached the airlock and hit the open button to pressurize the chamber and allow their guest access.

Luke heard the hatch from the Fin hiss as it became pressurized and sighed, making sure his blaster pistol was easily within reach and ready to fire. People with important cargo weren't usually too friendly. He watched as the hatch opened, revealing a women. Black haired and slender. He walked in, nodding to her slightly. Eyes flicking quickly to the blaster holster sitting on her hip, obviously she was about as trusting as he was. Though he probably looked slightly worse with his sniper lunged over his shoulder, keeping the cape he wore ceremonially from flapping to much, which just annoyed him.

"Nice welcoming committee. So, what's going on?"

"Those pirates hit us as soon as we entered the system," explained Silara, analyzing the man as soon as the hatch opened. The tattoo on his face, and the rifle slung over his back were the first things which Silara noticed, but the way he was standing and the tools he was carrying made her feel a little more at ease; there was no immediately hostile intent visible in his face or actions, and she allowed herself to relax a bit internally, though her muscles stayed alert. "If you follow me, I'll take you back to the problem." As they walked through the corridor of the small freighter, Silara explained, "I know where these things are, just from learning the ship, but I don't know how to fix them." They reached the access panel to where the sensors could be reached, and Silara said, "You can access them from there."

Luke groaned slightly, crawl spaces. Thankfully his ship didn't have one of these, but any other ship he worked on seemed to make up for it. He keyed into a small console, as the latch opened itself and he peered down it, at the very least he was able to crawl, somewhat comfortably down the passageway and to the hub for the sensors. He could see it from here, it was completely friend. Probably the captain trying to sequester power from the sensors into the shields, a transfer that wasn't meant to happen. As you always needed sensors.

Luke stood up again, dusting his knees slightly and taking the rifle off his back and placing it down in a corner out of the way. "Looks like your Captain got it fried, I should be-able to re-route power in a bypass but you'll need to get new parts for it. Do me a favor while I get started and tell your boss to stop draining power from the sensors into the shields or whatever he is using it for now, the sensors a key system it isn't meant to have power borrowed from it." Without waiting for an answer Luke turned back down and climbed into the access hatch, pushing himself slowly towards the hub.
