Young Minds With Big Intents (Mokou and TheVampire)

Arma watched the school bus go by in the morning and sighed, wishing she could be on that bus, but instead she was homeschooled by her parents. Their neighborhood was poor and run down, pretty much every other house on in the neighborhood was for sale and crime was happening daily if not hourly. Jericka walked the streets, aimlessly kicking an old soda can down the walks, her hands shoved in her pockets as she tried to figure out a way to get some money for herself and for her family, her parents constantly lecturing her on the values of the importance of money and saving it for future things. She was to young to get a job though, only being at the age of 16 and having a Brother on top of everything. Her long brown hair tied in its usual braid to keep it out of her hair running long past her shoulders, the same brown hair as her Brother's, though she had their Father's brown eyes and creamy white skin from not going outside much in a dangerous neighborhood like the one they lived in.
Sounds like I am going to be busy this weekend with friends and family and possibly going on a bit of a fishing trip.
I will also be applying for a job this weekend, so if I get a call for an interview, I am going to be busy with that as well, so I may not be on as much. Bleh...So nervous!
Just giving my partners a fair warning. I will still reply to you when I can, though things may be changing for me if I hopefully get this job.

Jay sat at his PC, doing nothing more than his usual browsing of various news topics online. His appearance matched his shut-in habits, what with his long, shaggy auburn hair and pale skin. His blue eyes were not spared from his ways either, framed by dark circles that showed off his lack of rest. Take into consideration the black, horn-rimmed glasses that never seemed to leave his face, and you got the typical 'shut-in social reject' appearance all laid out.

Outside of that lonely house passed a small group of guys, all drinking and generally having a good time. Jay peeked out of the window at them and set his gaze solidly on one in particular; Louis. Like his sister, he had brown hair that he fashioned into a very short and low ponytail. Unlike Jericka, however, his eyes were inherited from his mother; deep pools of green that always seemed very focused and determined. His skin, while still retaining it's smoothness, had become somewhat darker from all the time he spent outdoors. He straightened out the red vest he wore for work as he walked home, sighing.

Elsewhere, out of the eyes of the public, a street fight was just wrapping up. It was a regular thing in that part of the neighborhood, really. As always, the winner was the strong and rather muscular Barry. His dark brown eyes narrowed as he grinned down upon the man he'd just laid out with a few well placed punches. His bronzed skin was covered in sweat from the effort, matting down his short black hair and thin beard.

She decided to go visit Jay, knowing he was no doubt on that new laptop of his he'd just gotten. He was always messing around on that thing, though she personally didn't get what was so exciting about a computer. Jay had tried to explain it to her even but it just wasn't her thing. Not to mention she was bored stiff and needed excitment and wished herself free of this rugged neighborhood, wondering why her parents bothered trying to homeschool her when they should be teaching her self defence moves instead, even though she knew the basics. She quietly walked the block to Jay's house before knocking on his door, patiently waiting for him to answer while at the same time watching for idiots that might come by to give trouble.

Jay heard the knocking, of course. Had the small group of men not passed on by when they did, he would have ignored it. He rose from his chair and brushed himself off, a few crumbs falling to the floor at his feet. He looked down at them and grimaced, not really feeling like searching the horrible mess that was his closet for the vacuum to get them up. Putting the small mess out of mind, he headed out of his bedroom and went to the door, pulling it open with a yawn.

"Hello?" he said, rubbing his eyes.

She looked up at him when he opened the door and could see the blue-ish glow of his laptop. "You busy? Other then messing around on your computer as always?" She asked him, dying here for something, anything to do other then be at home and in this neighborhood. She looked over at a gang of street boys and saw her Brother, Louis, among them and sighed before turning her attention back to Jay, someone who she had been friends with pretty much forever since she met him. To say the least, she wasn't surprised her Brother was out with the other street kids running around and causing a bit of trouble.

Jay looked off to the side, tired eyes focusing in on the backs of the boys heading off into the distance. He shrugged a bit and stepped back into the house, motioning for his visitor to come along with him. "I'm not that busy, come in." he said as he stopped by the small couch in the living room and threw a few blankets off of it to make a proper seat. He never was very good about keeping the place tidy, but he did manage not to have any offending smells wafting around. As a matter of fact, the house smelled of cinnamon, possibly the result of him baking just a bit earlier in the day.

She was a bit surprised at the cinnamen smell, cinnamen and apples. "Were you actually baking?" She wondered, a bit surprised as she sat down. He rarely ever baked anything. But then, most men didn't really seem to bake at all, leaving the baking for the women and the cooking for the men. The food smelled good and fresh and made her mouth water as she took her shoes off, not surprised at all by his messy house. Another trait of men usually. She liked Jay. Despite his flaws, which everyone and everything had, he was good to her and her Brother, and wondered how he could call this place home.

"I felt like trying something out, yeah." was Jay's simple reply. He headed to the kitchen and retrieved a small plate of rather misshapen miniature cakes, a culinary experiment of his. He set the plate down on and end table in the living room as if to offer them without really saying anything about it, taking a seat on the couch. "So how've you been?" he asked, motiuoning for her to come sit.

She got up off the couch and went over to the table with him, the cake pieces looking good as she grabbed one to try, biting into it and, finding it quite good, had it gone in a flash. "You should bake more often." She commented before plopping her head down on the table on her arms, giving him a shrug when he asked how she's been. "Bored as heck. As always." She told him, her body almost physically aching for some excitment from this dump of a town they had to call home everyday. "I don't know how you can stand living here..." She said after a few moments of silence.

Jay smiled. It was a rare gesture from him, usually reserved for when something amused him, much like her statement. "I'm just used to it. S'better than being homeless, you know. Still... could really use some extra cash." he finished with a huff of air and a glance over Jericka. He really did adore the girl, and not out of some infatuation like most guys would. He'd known her for so long that she felt like a sister to him, and her presence was fairly pleasing.
