    You Make Me Feel

    Reserved for Forevveru.

    It was a tragic day, but what day wasn't in Mystic Falls, Virginia. From what Corey Hartgrove had heard, there weren't many days that weren't, and as of recently they seemed to be picking up. She sighed, leaning against the entrance to the High School Gym, her long sandy blonde hair down in loose curls and her bright grey-green eyes staring at the Sheriff as she spoke, and then as the interim mayor as he did. No one looked pleased, and Corey found herself adjusting the cropped black jacket she was wearing over her knee-length, strapless, dress. It was a red color, and Corey loved her dresses, so it was no surprise for her to be in one.

    Someone brushed passed her and the feeling she got off the temporary touch of his arm to her hand was one she hadn't felt before. Both vampire and werewolf, but even so, she shook her head and as the rest of the assembly seemed to leave, she followed in suit. She headed to the local pub... cafe... Whatever the Mystic Grill was. She sat at the bar and looked to the bartender.

    "Now, I'm sure I would have noticed such a pretty face in here before. Where are you from?" he asked her and she smiled.

    "Depends on when you were asking. Currently I'm from here. I move around a lot, and have just so happened to stumble across this town." she answered, and when he passed her a drink she reached into her pocket and poured a small vial into it when he turned away. Vervain. She turned in her seat and looked around. What a depressing day. She rolled her eyes, and soon she felt something beside her and she turned to the man. "And who might you be?" she smiled to him, showing her brilliant smile.

    --

    The call had confused him. Why had Rebekah called him when she could have called Elijah or asked Niklaus? Well, none of that really mattered did it? Kol Mikaelson was now back in Mystic Falls, and he was rather enjoying what he was seeing. A town at its knees. But what he had heard disturbed him. Rebekah needed his help getting hold of information, but if it was information being withheld from her, he could only guess what it was. He had a feeling it was regarding something good though. He sighed and walked into the bar while it was pretty empty and after getting his drink he headed to the high school, where Rebekah had asked to meet him.

    "Good, you're here." she smiled to him and Kol nodded.

    "Anything for you, little sister." he smirked and Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Now, what did you need?"

    "Niklaus daggered me after we got through talking about the cure." she answered and Kol looked at her. That wasn't good. "I just need you around while I get my answers. Make sure if anyone tries to interfere we can fix it."

    "Alright, anything you say." he smirked once again, but as Rebekah walked away he sighed. That wasn't good, but then again, when was anything anymore. Elijah had fled, just like he had, when Alaric became a threat, and now Kol was back and everything had changed. He walked down the halls after hearing the memorial service come to a close and he sighed. Now he would wait.

    When given such a task Emerald Emerson wouldn't have guessed it was such a big one. Not necessarily what she was doing but just what everyone was involved in. How long had it been? A few months now she had been in Mystic Falls just kind of sitting back watching things happening and keeping Elijah Michaelson informed of the happenings here. It was so easy to go unnoticed when one didn't use magic and laid low. With everything going on who would notice one more witch in town anyway?

    The newest happening was some of the vampires, including Elijah's brother Klaus, wanted a cure that supposedly turned a vampire back into a human. Emerald wasn't sure that such a thing could exist, or if it did then it could be very dangerous. What would happen if an original took it? Would their whole bloodline turn human as well?

    Going to the funeral just because it was a kind thing to do when someone died, Emerald wore a dark blue dress. What with her love of skirts and dresses, this wasn't as bad as it was for the women who only liked jeans. Of course she liked wearing comfortable pants too at times as well but why not dress up a bit and look nice when leaving your house? Afterwards she was quick to figure out where Rebekah was.

    Seeing as she already had a clue what everyone else was doing, she needed to check on Elijah's sister. Emerald had no clue what the girl was planning and she needed to change that quickly. The bad thing was, it was going to be difficult staying hidden in a highschool while trying to see what was going on. Despite that she quietly walked in keeping towards the wall on either side and was careful before turning any corner.

    ~~~
    Memorials seemed to be an occurring theme in this town. Damon couldn't recall how many they had now. At the very least four now. Jenna, Alaric, the twelve Mystic Falls comity members, and now Tyler's mother. Mostly he went out of respect as well as Elena had gone. It still felt a little odd, them having the sire bond and things being drastically different. Not only for them but things were strained between him and Stefan. Not that this was anything new since before the originals came to town him and his brother always had been on rough terms.
    After the memorial Damon felt in much need of a drink. With everything going on lately, drinks seemed to be very much needed all the time as of late. This whole mess with trying to find the cure was time consuming. In all honesty he wasn't sure he wanted the cure to be found. Then Elena could be human again and he was sure her feelings for him would cease to exist. Then it would be Stefan again.
    Shaking his head he would do his best to take his mind off of it for a bit. Walking into the bar he noted a few people were there. Heading up to the bar he sat in his usual seat and as usual threw his jacket onto the seat next to him. Not because he didn't want to chat with anyone but because that's where Alaric had usually sat when they would drink together and for some reason he just didn't want someone to sit in that particular seat when he was in there drinking.
    Glancing over he noticed someone he didn't recognize before. The bartender knew him well enough that he didn't need to say what it was he wanted. "New in town?" He asked the pretty, petite, blonde a few seats down from him.
    Corey's eyes fluttered to the man on the other side of her just as the man she had been chatting with got up and left. He had been nice enough, and he even clued her in on a few of the town's "myths". Most were about vampires and witches, but hearing what they had to say always had her attention. Mainly because she was mentally picking apart the mistakes. This man beside her now though, he had beautiful eyes and a saved seat on his other side. "Very new to town. Heard the culture was rich here and decided I should check it out." she answered him, a charming smile falling upon her face as she traced the mouth of her glass with her index fingertip.
    She studied him momentarily before she extended her hand out to him. "Corey. Corey Hartgrove, who might you be?" she asked him. The moment her hand met his she could see it. The death... or what she had always imagined death felt like... and then life again. He was troubled and when she realized that she had made a face she took her hand back and gave a small smile. "Sorry, your hands are very cold. Kind of shocked me a little." she apologized to him. Vampire. That's what he was. He breathed it, but still, of all the vampires she had come across, he was one of the few that didn't come off as completely inhuman. To have no humanity... It wasn't worth trying to figure out if they were worth trying to work with... No... They were just worth killing.
    It had sparked her memory, to just a year earlier, where she burnt down a house with 12 vampires in it. She had done it completely on accident, but since then she had had very unstable, but immense, power that she was able to tap into. A type of magic her aunt had explained to her, and it scared her a bit, but Corey had a better handle on it than she had a year ago... But it was like her hold on it was slowly disappearing as it tried to come out.
    "So, are you a local? Is there anything you can tell me about the town other than the myths about vampires and witches?" she asked him, taking a long drink of her bourbon.
    --
    Kol, hanging around the high school, was becoming bored exceedingly fast. As much loyalty as he held towards his sister, he wanted to dagger her already for trying to bore him into killing people. He sighed, leaning up against one of the lockers in a dark hallway when he heard someone coming and quickly vanished. He looked to see who it was. A beautiful blonde girl with pale skin and bright eyes. He smiled, but something about her read different. She didn't seem like she was mourning like the others, and he knew that this wasn't one of the people that his sister wanted to get information from. Who was she? Against better judgement, and to keep from his own boredom, Kol came out.
    "Lost? I know I am. Went to leave the building and I guess I took a wrong turn." he said, approaching her small form. She was taller than most, but she was still smaller than he was. He smiled, though keeping up the front he needed, and offered his hand to her. "I'm Kol, who might you be? I've not seen you around town and I've been visiting here off and on for the last few months." he introduced himself, still trying to appear friendly.
    He left his hand out for her to take, and he watched momentarily as her hand slipped into his and shook it. She felt different, maybe it was just because he had never seen her before, but Kol could sense something about this one. "Mind helping me find my way out of here?"
    Emerald felt like the school was a little eire. The fact it was rather dark and also empty probably didn't help matters. Sometimes she felt like cursing Elijah for having her be in Mystic Falls. Could she really manage to continue being here without being sucked into things and possibly killed? Honestly she didn't have a clue whatsoever and it sort of unnerved her. If things got to bad she didn't plan on sticking around. No one that was in the current mess knew much of her so she could easily get out before they try and force her into the fold and helping their side.
    Turning the corner it was as empty as the others. At least; until she saw someone move from where they had been clearly hiding. Had she made to much noise? Well she would have to keep that in mind next time. Deciding to just go with being lost as well she nodded. "I've only been to the school once so I was trying to find my way out," she lied easily enough. At the mention of his name she wondered. Kol? Wasn't that a name of one of Elijah's siblings? "Emerald. I've only been here a little over a month," she answered before offering her own hand.
    The feeling that hit her was one she had learned to recognize thanks to her parents. They were actually both witches, which really did help with learning the craft. The coldness, death, and overall vibe she got had all the signs that pointed to vampire. And a strong one. There was no doubt this had to be a Mickaelson. Keeping her features neutral she listened to him speak again. "Sure. I think it's up this way somewhere," she said referring to the direction ahead of her as she took her hand back.
    ~~~

    Damon nodded lightly at the answer. There were sure a lot of myths and stories about this town. Most of them were about the supernatural side like witches and vampires and all of that. With all of the different being in town how could their not be stories and talk? With the originals arrival in town everything had picked up so much and not in a good way. They needed a way to get rid of them, but so far nothing was panning out in their groups favor. Looking at the girl again he thought she picked the wrong town to decide to check out.

    "Damon Salvatore," he spoke and extended his own hand. The reaction he saw on her face was one he couldn't put his finger on. It was just not how one normally responded when shaking someone's hand. On his own front, when he touched her hand he got the sense of power from her. What exactly was she? His gut told him she wasn't entirely human but obviously he couldn't straight out ask her. At least not out in the open anyway. "Yeah, I run a few degrees below normal temperature," he said and pretended to act a little sheepish about it.

    Bringing the glass up to his lips he took a long drink. This girl was at least a nice distraction to get his mind off of things for a bit, he found himself thinking. "I guess you could say that. I've lived here a year or so now." If that was what was concerned a local then sure he was one. "Well.. There's always the werewolves myths," he said, giving that little smirk he was known for. "Aside from all the supernatural myths I'd say this town is pretty much like any other small town." Aside from the fact so many supernatural beings lived here.

    Corey looked over to Damon as he studied her and upon bringing up the werewolves she shrugged. "As long as they don't eat me, I don't much mind them." she quickly caught what she had said, but hopefully it would just play off as a lighthearted joke. There was no need for anyone to know she was here for other reasons aside from learning about the history of the town. She gave a slightly wry smile and sighed, "I don't really believe in the myths, but the more I've read into them the more truth I find." she began before taking another long drink from her glass and when she finished it, she sighed and laid down a few bills and waved to the bartender.

    "I better be going. Got a few things to look into while I'm here." she turned to Damon. "Nice talking to you, Damon Salvatore. Maybe I'll see you around." she said, and as she went to leave the bar, her purse on her arm, someone ran into her and knocked her Grimoire from her purse. She quickly gathered it up and headed out of the bar and down the street. Being in a town of supernaturals was not something she was entirely used to, considering she stuck to larger cities for this reason exactly.

    --

    Kol smiled to Emerald. She was definitely in for a treat if she was going to interfere with his plans, but for now she seemed compliant with ignoring whatever she just picked up on. Still he smiled. "Thank you. I have a horrible sense of direction. Want to walk out with me? I'm sure you've heard all about the rumors of the wild animals in the town." he said to her. Of course, anyone who knew about vampires knew that wasn't the case at all. Then Rebekah appeared in front of him and she crossed her arms, looking between he and the blonde.

    "There you are, Kol. Come on, let's get going." Rebekah impatiently tapped her foot.

    "Go on, Rebekah, I'll find my own way home. Besides, I was just getting to know Emerald." he said to her with a smiled.

    (Sorry it's so short. I've been really distracted.)

    "Yeah it's crazy how many animal attacks there have been. Isn't it?" Emerald obviously knew it was vampires but she wasn't going to give away that fact. It was already enough that she was far to close to a vampire right now that could figure out what she was. Kol being back was probably something she should text Elijah when she got a free moment away from him, and now his sister who just came up.

    "Oh if your busy I can just find my own way out," she said.

    ~~~
    Rising an eyebrow ever so slightly, that was kind of an odd thing to say in response. It didn't exactly sound like a joke, like any normal person might take it. But being what he was, and the vibe he got from her, it sort of seemed like more than that. He let it slide though and just smirked like he took it as a joke. Taking another drink he wasn't entirely surprised that she was leaving kind of quickly after all of the myth talk. "See you around."
    Turning around he had been watching her leave when she bumped into someone and dropped a book that looked to be a Grimoire. Getting up he grabbed his jacket before carefully taking off to follow her. He wasn't sure why he was but maybe after seeing where she was headed he could confront her.
    Corey sighed when she got out away from the Grill and closed her eyes, pushing her Grimoire into her purse and continuing on down the street, crossing at the crosswalk, and looking at the local motel she was staying at. She looked up at her room, and climbed the stairs before she could get to her room though she stopped and turned. She could feel something-someone even- following her. She studied the area around her, but sighed and she got out her room key, but before she even went to open the door she tucked the room key in her pocket and headed down the stairs and faced the sidewalk. "I know you're there. Call it paranoia, but I really don't like being followed." she announced and she looked up to the street light before a figure came into her sight. She had to squint to try and make out who was there, but after a moment of deciding it was her own imagination, she headed back up the stairs.
    Since she had tapped into expression, she had been hallucinating, and why she couldn't figure out at all. She just knew that sometimes things she thought were there weren't, and things she didn't know where there were. She shook her head and finally took out her key and went to unlock her door before she felt it again. "You're just, paranoid, Core. It comes with being in this kind of town." she grumbled to herself, but she just couldn't bring herself to open the door and when she did, she quickly entered and closed the door behind her and placed down her things. "Maybe some meditation?" she suggested to herself out loud.
    She began placing her incense around the room and before she could light them she heard a knock at her door and she looked out the peep hole and saw... Damon Salvatore? She opened her door. "I wasn't expecting company." she said to him.
    -&-
    Kol looked to Emerald and then back to Rebekah. "Oh no, he's not busy. It's just our brother would rather us come home together rather than separated, but since Kol is making a new friend, I'm sure he won't mind." Rebekah said. With that she walked off and Kol looked to Emerald.
    "Don't mind my sister. She likes to do everything our older brother tells us to. She's wrapped around his finger and he around hers. It's kind of annoying really. Of the four of us, they are the closest, and of the four of us, I am the odd man out." he grumbled the last bit more to himself. He found it in himself to send a charming smile back to Emerald though, and not a few steps later he received a text from Rebekah. It said something about where to find someone and to bring him there. "I'm sorry to cut this short, but it seems Rebekah has left something. You may have to find your own way out. Sorry." he apologized, and he began walking the opposite direction and taking off at full speed when he was out of sight.
    Professor Shane. This man had to know something about what Rebekah wanted. So perhaps he was useful afterall.
    Emerald didn't really know what to say to Rebekah. Honestly she didn't feel very comfortable around this family other than Elijah. He was said to be the 'moral' one and the others just.. weren't. So that was another reason she couldn't wait to just be able to go back home and hoped it could be sometime soon. Hopefully jut a few more months and she could go back and never have t see Mystic Falls again.
    Nodding slightly as he explained she could kind of tell that was the case. Rebekah and Klaus being the closest. Unsure what to say when he mentioned being the odd one out she kind of looked down as if feeling bad for him. Maybe she did a bit.
    "That's okay, I should get home anyway," she said before he left. Pulling out her phone as she started walking she sent a simple text to Elijah. Kol is back. Now didn't seem a good time to try and sneak around again to see what the two were up to so she just headed towards the front door. Maybe she really would head back to the motel she was staying at for awhile though couldn't her the curiosity of just what Rebekah was trying to do.
    ~~~

    Damon carefully followed her out. So there was another witch in town. Hm and witches never seemed to get along. All one had to do was look at how he and Bonnie acted towards each other. This girl didn't seem so bad though. Maybe she wouldn't be as annoying or even get involved in the mess of things that was this town. That could very well be wishful thinking though. It didn't matter to him though. He didn't think she could really hinder them. Heck she would probably be happy to hear of Jeremy killing some vampires even if it was to complete a tattoo.

    Despite the fact he was being rather stealthy, apparently that wasn't enough. Quickly he had moved behind a corner and heard how she knew someone was out there and about paranoia. Did she really know, or was she just having paranoid tendencies, or maybe it was just an instinct. Waiting about five minutes he figured she would be in her apartment by then; plus he had watched her walk in.

    Going up to the door he had watched her enter, he knocked and got an answer within a few minutes. "Just thought I'd welcome the new witch to town," he said with his signature smirk.

    Corey looked to Damon as he stood there, and she nodded to his statement. "Ah, you did catch on." she said, silently reprimanding herself, but she looked at him. "Well, without an invitation inside you're just going to have to stay cozy out there." She had no intentions of inviting him in. For all she knew he was another one of those horrendously elaborate hallucinations that she had been having, and for all she really knew she was just speaking to a human who just felt like a vampire. The latter was very unlikely, and she knew the unlikelihood of the former was pretty high too. She just didn't want to believe she had been so obvious, and so stupid.

    She leaned, slightly against the door frame, and she looked at him. "Welcoming the new witch? How exactly do you plan to do that? Interrogation? Torture? An actual friendly drink?" she asked him. It was her nature to be mistrusting, but even she knew that most vampires and witches just couldn't get along, and with her own mental stability being barely there, she knew how much worse she could be. "It was nice meeting you, Damon Salvatore, but now that you know what I am, I think it's best we just stay out of each other's way. I have to stop events from happening, and quite frankly you're pretty face would prevent that."

    She slammed the door shut in his face and leaned her back against it briefly and sighed. How had she been so stupid?

    -&-

    Kol was gone as quickly as he was there, and when he made it to where the Professor was said to be. Kol sometimes enjoyed helping his sister, but other times he loathed it. This one was one of the few times it was the former. He quickly got into the hall and he noticed the Bennett witch there. Oh, this was good, but the moment that the two were separated he snatched up the man and brought him back to the high school and shoved him into the janitor's closet and locked him in there. He then went off to find Rebekah a and found her with Stefan, Elena, and Caroline sitting in the library with Tyler Lockwood.

    "We're ready for you sister." he smirked and Rebekah sighed.

    "What took so long?" she asked.

    "I had to get there." Kol answered and she looked to Tyler, and she looked directly into his eyes.

    "Turn." she compelled and she and Kol walked off and into the room where Shane was being held.

    Emerald decided upon sitting on a bench not far from the school. There wasn't much she could do back at the motel and even less that she could figure out from so far away. Elijah hadn't responded back yet and she wondered if it bothered him one way or the other his brother was back here. It couldn't mean anything good though since him and Rebekah were working together. While most everyone wanted the cure she thought it was best it just stay wherever it was. Nothing but bad could come from trying to get something such as that.

    Besides, from what she had heard something else was down there, wherever the cure was and she wouldn't want that to rise either. All she needed was more research about it once she got back to the hotel. Looking at the place a few more minutes she realized Elena hadn't come out in awhile and now Stefan and Caroline and Tyler were heading in. Well that spelled nothing but trouble when Rebekah was in there.

    Her back straightened a little as she tried to figure out exactly what was going on in there. Now Kol was back and with someone she didn't recognize. If she heard his name she would know who he was, just having heard of him. It was something to do with the cure, she was sure, but why bring Elena and some of her posse into the mix?

    ~~~
    "Well it was kind of hard to miss the big book that fell onto the ground," Damon responded. In all honesty he wasn't surprised by her lack of invite. Why was he here anyway? Instead of being here he should be going back home and letting the others know a new witch was in town. "Oh it's nice and fine out here," he said letting a smirk fill his face from how blatantly she said he wouldn't be coming inside. It was okay. Him and Bonnie never got along so it was likely to be the same exact thing here.
    The mention of how he welcomed a new witch to town made his smirk grow a little. "Oh it depends on my mood." It was true, even if he was also kind of messing with her. His mood played a huge part in what his actions did and right now, he didn't feel like a fight with a witch when there was more important things to be dealing with.
    Irritated by the door being slammed in his face he also wasn't happy to hear about her trying to stop things. "I wouldn't try that if I were you. You'd have way to many unhappy vampires gunning for you," he spoke through the door before turning to leave. While he personally didn't want the cure, so many others did. Including two originals.
