The Old Sith Wars (Interest Check)

    The Old Sith Wars.

    The Idea
The Rp will start in the early stages of The Great Sith War, or the Exar Kun War as most have known it to be called, and then span to it's end. The Rp may even then progress into the rest of the Old Sith Wars, which entails everything from the Naddist Uprising to the First Jedi Purge.
    ---
"I don't understand, Master Vodo…why can't I learn about the Sith? I think you underestimate me."
―Exar Kun, to Master Vodo Siosk-Baas
"Exar Kun, because of you, the Sith will never die. You have earned the right to bear the mark of Dark Lord of the Sith."
―Marka Ragnos, appointing Exar Kun as Dark Lord
"I was the greatest Dark Lord of the Sith. I am Exar Kun."
    ―Exar Kun, to Kyp Durron
"Together we can bring peace to this chaotic world."
    ―Ulic Qel-Droma, to Oron Kira
"If the dark side could take Master Arca, then it's too strong for us. We're going to need more Jedi Knights—and the forces of the Republic!'"
―Ulic Qel-Droma, after the first battle of the Freedon Nadd Uprising
"Exar Kun, you are the most formidable student I have ever had. But I sense something is missing in you—an empty place hidden even from yourself, a place that remains unseen because no light escapes from that region of your heart."
    ―Vodo-Siosk Baas
"Not just a military battle for the dominance of a few worlds—this is a war of light and darkness, and at its center is my own student…Exar Kun."
    ―Vodo-Siosk Baas

A few notes on Character Creation.
Your character can be any logical, discoverd species.
Your Character can be on any side, Sith or Republic-[This envelopes the Jedi Council]
Your Character does not have to be Force Sensative, if you want a gunman or non-force blademan, that is absolutely fine.

    hmm... interesting...

Got a few quick questions about story and setting:
What sort of plans do you have here to prevent the RP from becoming too large, leaving characters too far apart from each other to properly interact?
Will you use just one or two worlds, or will you use a large portion of the known galaxy?
Will you have it attempt to be Canon or not?
Will any of the known greater personages (persons from known lore) be present, or will it tackle a side-branch of the whole conflict?
How powerful may a character be? Shall all force-wielders be at most knight-level? Or do you permit masters?

And a few about the management of the RP:
What sort of GM are you? the sort to keep players tightly reined to the plan, or the sort that lets players figure things out for themselves?
What will you do if/when a player tries to bypass your plan to do something else?
Do you have specific expectations for post lengths & frequency?
How will you deal with someone that goes OP?
What means will you use to deal with player characters of players that drop out?
If there are players of different levels... Will you find ways to balance them together? (some might be mid-casual, while others could technically be advanced)

The RP will focus on the focal points of the War, leaving some off time for interaction, and then more prominent, larger conflicts in which the characters will engage either the opposite side, or the opposing Rpers. The Rpers on each side will be assigned to the same team/ship depending on just how many people we get.
We will be using quite a few planets, not entirely a large portion of the Galaxy, but the most common that the War takes place upon, a few examples are Yavin 4, Onderon, Ossus, Corusant, and a few other core worlds.
It will be very much Canon, the only Non-canon things will be those of our characters, which is not technically non-canon, because no list of names is given for the War.
The greater Personages will indeed be present, they are the critical focus in this Rp, and their presence is a must on many situations.
The limit is knight, as this Rp will(hopefully) span a large time period across several wars.
As for your first management question, that one depends, if the plot calls for a tight handle on the reigns for a few posts to reveal a twist or unleash an exciting event, I will then do so, but if the plot is non-specific, I will typically create a situation in which the characters can do things either in a team, or cordinate seperately to focus on their characters strong points.
If an Rper attempts to do something besides the plan, again this situation is fluxating, then I will PM them and converse of this situation to resolve it as peacefully as I can and even sometimes will encourage this, once more, depending on the situation.
I do not have a post length expectancy, as there are times even in Advanced Rping where conversations can get to the simplest and smallest of points in posting, as for frequency, I would like people to stay farely active, at least a post within a 2 day span, I understand personal problem and life can get in the way, just PM me if something comes up.
If an Rper goes OP, then I will bring this to their attention, because it may or may not be on purpose, I will then determine what sort of lines this person has crossed, and work it out with them, if the character was say a knight, and took down three Basilisk War Droids alone Piloted by Mandolorian Commanders, I will immediatly PM said Rper and notify him of his dismissal from this Rper, I will have no Godly Jedi/Sith bouncing around like Wampus Rat's.
Drop outs will be placed within NPC formats, fitting roles that don't need attendance, but still offer character companionship for those who became aquintances or friends with said character, that is if the character is left unattended, the Rper has their choice of what they wish to do with their character if they intend to leave.
Rpers of different levels will balanced, but not in a rude way, I do not want Advanced Rpers acting like they can not Rp with a less experienced or Casual Rper, you will be nice, you will not segerate by skill and you will not take it upon yourself to ignore or be rude to someone with Casual skills.

hmm... will players be limited to one character, or do you intend to let players have as many as they feel they can manage?
Can players make and use disposable NPCs at will?

For planets.... will you keep it to just one or two at a time, or will you have the ones you named available at all times? (often it is hard to manage RPs with many worlds unless you manage the rare feat of great player count)

While I am sure there are people able to manage several characters at once, I would very much like that none makes anymore then two, and even two really doesn't thrill me.
Players can make disposable NPC's so long as they serve no major purpose, by Major I mean no making a ship captin of a Vindacator Class Ship and just kill him, I have no problem with Merchants, Greeters, Commoners, Servants, random people occupying and ara in which they work/train/live.
I will generally keep it to one planet, there may be times in which the Sith Rpers go to one planet, and the Mercs or Jedi or Republic Soliders go to another, but I doubt there will be anymore then two active at a time.

    good to know.

What about making soldiers, like a squad of republic/sith troopers? or a small squadron of starfighters (when that is more applicable)?

Will you have your own character(s) or will you solely GM?

Troopers and Starfighters are alright, but guage them responsibly, don't run in and cut down several heavy gunners without blocking blaster fire or atleast taking a few hits, I am leaving Logic in your hands aswell as mine, I am not going to be one of those guys who makes all your enemies for you, I am sort of like a General Surgeon Notice on Liquor, but instead of "Drink Responsibly", I say, "Role play Responsibly."
I too will have a character, as will my Co-Gm, who is very similar to me in many way, but also has a few opinions, we will be conversing on all the things that go on, I should have mentioned him earlier, but it slipped my mind, as I have not had anymore then four hours of sleep.

excellent. Those answers have given a decent view as to how you think and plan for this to be. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

I would be up for it. I've had a star wars character in mind for a while.
And what do you call assassins who accuse assassins anyway, my friend?
