I'm currently sponsoring a 4 year old boy from East Africa. It's kind of nice to know you're helping a small community who can use it.
Does anyone here sponsor a child overseas? I do.

I'm with Plan, they're good about keeping me up to date.

I'm with Compassion. I get letters from my kid every so often.
I haven't really heard of this. Can someone explain or point me to a site to explore?

I'm not sure what agencies you have where you are, but basically sponsoring a child is basically making a monthly donation to support a child and their community in developing countries. You get periodic updates on how your child is doing, and you can write to them. I am with a company called Plan, so please google search it and see if it's something you'd be interested in doing!

Sounds like a good cause. I support this.
My family purchases items for impoverished villages through a magazine around Christmas time each year. Sometimes it's a few chickens, or a goat, or funds to build a well. Sometimes supporting something or someone or a community you can't see is hard or frustrating because you can't see the direct result of it, but I think it's a good thing to do...

I've entered a marathon relay in my local city for the 6th of may in order to raise money for NI Hospice for sick children. I've started training 4 miles twice a week, and I am hoping to go to 7 miles for three times a week when I think I'm able. Its for a good cause, and it will also help me reduce some of the weight that I've put on from the new year.
