    Seattle.

Nim still wasn't sure why she'd chosen Seattle. It was just another big, dirty city. She could have gone to New York, or Detroit, or even Portland. But she'd chosen Seattle. And now she was stuck here, wingless, unless she found and rehabilitated a lost soul. Not that there was a lack of lost souls in Seattle, but none of them were what she was looking for. None of them were worth the effort of saving personally- most of them would save themselves in the end.

She'd spent the last few weeks in dingy cafes downtown, where the angst-filled, suicidal artists were more likely to lurk. She wasn't wrong, but they weren't what she was looking for either. Apparently, Seattle was just filled with whiners. This particular night, she'd chosen a cozy spot called 'Blue Cafe', warmly lit and covered in mismatched furniture and beanbag chairs, complete with a fire lit towards the back wall.

Nim was seated at a table near the middle of the cafe, sipping a French Vanilla and watching the door from the corner of her eye, pretending to be reading a book of poetry. The only other people were a middle-aged man with two suitcases and a dead expression, and the waitress, who was talking quietly into her cellphone behind the counter.

Now, she only had to wait.

Ben had just gotten out of a depression funk that seemed to be happening to him a lot lately. He sighed deeply and looked over at the Blue Cafe. It was his favorite place to go and hang out, so he crossed the street. Once across he entered the Blue Cafe and looked around not many people were there tonight and that was fine by him, but the waitress at the bar was a old friend of his and she quickly got off the cell and came around the counter to hug him, "Ben how are you?"

    "Been better, Sarah and you?"

    "Same old same old."

"That boyfriend of yours still around?"

"No I kicked him out of the apartment I was paying for."

"That a girl. I always did say he was no good."

"Yeah want anything to drink tonight?"

    "A soda would be nice."

"Alright find a place to sit." Ben nodded as Sarah walked away and looking about he sat at a bar across the room farthest from the door he wanted to be warm in hopes that it would melt the ice that he seemed to feel surrounding him. He shivered for no reason as he removed his jacket looking around from the door to the stage, but when Sarah brought him his drink he smiled softly at her as if nothing was wrong and she walked away.
