Allison "Alli" Mayfield/19/Worker of Light Magic and Dreams
Klaus Mikaelson/Original/Vampire
Her eyes scanned the area. Tennessee. It was the first time since she and Alli had been together that Ophelia Rizolia had willing left her friend to go find the Petrova doppelganger. The red haired, 19 year old looking witch scanned the area, and when she found who she was looking for, she sighed. Her phone in her pocket was the closest thing to Allison Mayfield at the moment. She closed her eyes and watched the entrance to the bar before she approached it. She had caught sight of a pair of dark blond haired men heading in there, and she knew that was who she needed to be watching. It was how they had divided up the work. Alli would help keep an eye on the Petrova doppelganger, and Lia would watch the sadistic hybrid as best she could.
She pulled out her phone and sent a quick text. Found Klaus. Keep you updated.
She shoved her phone back in her pocket and pulled her backpack out of the rental car and pulled it over her back. She looked very young for her age. Ophelia had been around almost 140 years, but with the help of magic, expression especially, she was able to halt the aging process for a while, so long as she found a way to gather energy from humans. With a hand running through her dark hair, and her eyes fixating on the bar, she walked across the street and into the bar. It was full of people and Klaus and the other man were talking to a brunette that she had recognized and her eyes widened.
"Lia!" he called over and before she could turn to leave, the other man was there and his eyes attempted to pierce her own.
"Stay calm, and don't move. Just stay in the bar." he attempted to compel, and Ophelia looked at him and Ray watched as he turned her around, offering her a look. "Who is this?"
"Isn't it polite to give your own name first?" she asked, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms. Stefan looked at her and she looked to Ray. "So, what is it?"
"I'm Stefan Salvatore." he said, and Ophelia nodded.
"And I'm Lia." She answered, and Ray watched as she sat down beside him. He gave her an odd look, but Ophelia gave him a knowing look.
"Is she your daughter?" Stefan asked, and Ophelia shook her head.
"Old friend." she answered.

The ride back from Tennessee had been horrendously long, even though Damon's sense of time was severely off, he knew it was long. Still, at least he was back in time for Elena's party, and he had her gift for her tucked in his back pocket. Being at the Salvatore Boarding house was nice and people were already showing up for Elena's party, to which Damon quickly changed shirts, dabbed on some cologne, and headed up to Stefan's old room where Elena was getting ready and knocked.
"It's opened!" she called, and Damon ran his hand through his hair and opened the door, his blue eyes meeting Elena's hazel eyes. "I hope I can get through today without crying."
"It's your party, you can cry if you want to." he said, and he moved his hands behind his back. "And look, I know you said no gifts, but I didn't buy this."
"You stole it!" she exclaimed and he chuckled, pulling her necklace out of the small box.
"Found it." he corrected her and she looked happy enough. That was enough to make him feel as if he had done his job for the night, and after descending the stairs with her he saw her. A beautiful brunette with bright green eyes who looked like a lost puppy and was obviously looking for someone. He smiled and after taking his bottle of bourbon from one of the teenagers, he walked over to her. "New to town?" he asked her, with a charming smile. "Who are you looking for? I might be able to find someone to direct you. I'm Damon Salvatore." he offered his hand to her.
Alli was leaning against the wall, admiring the view, when she felt her hip vibrate. She had been staring at the painting across the room, taking in its contours and the way the paint blended together so seamlessly that if appeared to have come from a single stroke. She didn't know the artist, nor did she recognize the painting for anything other than what it was--a beautiful piece of art. She assumed that she would have recognized it had it been something well know. She prided herself on her knowledge of all things artistic. It was a bit of a hobby and a lot of interest. Her father had been a painter, and her grandfather before him. She had grown up surrounded by beautiful peaces of art and had, over time, developed a love for it.
It was hard to tear her eyes away from the intricately swirling colors, but she realized that it might be something important. Very few people had the number to the phone on her hip, and only one of those people was she currently expecting to hear from. She pulled it out of her pocket with a sigh and confirmed that, yes, it was who she was expecting. A quick look at her watch also confirmed that she was late. But, what could she do? It seemed as if she was never on time.
Lia's text was short, just two fragments set up into sentence format. She sighed at the words and replies back that she had yet to run into the doppelganger but also that the party hadn't really started yet. She cursed quietly to herself. That was not her idea of an ideal mission. She didn't like being split up from her friend. It made her nervous. She certainly didn't like being this far away.
So lost in her thoughts, Alli jumped about a foot off the ground at the sound of someone's voice behind her. She twirled around, coming face to face with none other than Damon Salvatore. He was dressed to perfection, hair nicely combed, and he was giving her a wicked grin. He didn't know who she was, but she knew him. He protected the doppelganger. She wasn't entirely sure why, but everyone had their reasons.
"I'm not looking for anyone," she told him, ignoring about how he asked for her name. She stared him down and frowned, shifting from foot to foot. This was taking way too long.

The bar was busy that evening.
It didn't really matter to Klaus. The throngs of people provided ample cover. It wasn't that it would matter if he had any, but he'd always liked the idea of blending into a crowd. It made him so much harder to detect. It was one of his talents, he supposed. He could fit in surprisingly well with humans, something that had shocked him when he'd first come to the realization. But, as a whole, humans weren't that intelligent. Yes, there were a few here and there, but for the most part, it was better to just think of them as dinner and move on.
He had come that night with Stefan, although he wasn't spending very much time with the other vampire. As soon as they'd arrived, he had taken to the bar, opened a tab, and relaxed. He would have kicked his feet up if he could, but he didn't think that the bartender would like that very much. She was cute. maybe if Klaus could get her close enough to compel, he could have something nice to eat that night.
When he finally did decide that he needed to find his companion, he caught sight of him by a girl. Even in the swirling, blaring lights and through the maze of twisting, gyrating bodies, he could make her out. She was small and petite with red hair and she was saying something. Part of him wanted to go over there. Another part of him didn't think that it was worth the effort. And so he ordered another drink.
Ophelia looked over to Ray Sutton, her werewolf friend, who looked completely desperate, "Lia. Everyone in the bar's compelled." Ray told her. "To mention anything suspicious to that man." he whispered to her. She looked at him and saw where his head directed to. She nodded to him, and Stefan looked at Ray.
"Is she a wolf? Would she know where your pack is? Because if you don't give up this information, willingly, I have to do things I really dislike." Stefan asked Ray, looking him directly in the eyes, and then he looked up to who Ophelia only assumed was Klaus, and soon the bartender came over when she waved.
"Can I get some whiskey, please?" she asked, batting her eyelashes.
"Sorry, honey, I can't serve minors." he said, and Ophelia sighed and dug through her backpack and got out her ID. It was fake, of course, but for other reasons. He looked at it and nodded. "Coming right up." he said to her and she smiled then and Ray looked to her.
"She's not a wolf, she doesn't know where my pack is." Ray spoke, rather scared, and Stefan soon grabbed her by both shoulders and looked her directly in the eyes, trying to compel her again.
"Are you a wolf?" he asked her and Ophelia smiled.
"Bite me, vampire." she hissed, and Stefan's eyes veined up, but before he could reach her veins he froze and began holding his head. "Hope that answers your question, Mr. Salvatore."
"Lia!" Ray hissed and she looked at him. "You're going to get his attention. I can't give up my pack. He wants them, and I don't know why."
"I have a feeling I do. But, Ray, despite our old friendship, I need his attention." Ophelia said, drinking some of her whiskey as she awaited him to come over. She kept her hold on Stefan, barely using any energy, but she knew that soon she would need some. Just a little even because she was wearing thin again.

Damon looked at the girl, who had yet to give him her name and sighed. "Right, and I'm not collector of arts." he gently teased her. It was a mechanism he generally used to lure in all of his fresh meals. Give them a false sense of security, sweep them off their feet, and feed on them until he was satisfied. Then he'd heal them and compel to forget and leave him. Just like that, almost all the time. Sometimes it was a little harder, but for once he wasn't hunting for food. He had Andie still, who would be arriving at the party after the 10 o'clock news. He looked at the painting that the girl had been looking at and soon Elena came over.
"Oh, there you are Damon!" she smiled, and Caroline was hooked on her arm.
"You cannot miss the cake!" Caroline said to him. There had always been tension between the two, but Damon wasn't sure he could entirely help all of that one. "Whose your friend, Damon?"
Before Damon could speak, Elena smiled. "You must be the new girl that the boys have been buzzing about. I'm Elena Gilbert, and this is one of my best friends, Caroline Forbes. Why aren't you enjoying the party?" Elena asked.
"She's been studying my painting. Probably making note of every little detail!" Damon chuckled and Elena smacked his arm and fixated him with a look. "Fine, fine. I'll get you and mystery over here drinks. What will you have?" he asked, and Elena raised her glass and Damon let out a sigh that showed his annoyance. "Well, beer it is. Be happy it's your birthday, Elena." he whispered in her ear before he headed off to get the mystery girl a drink.
As soon as she had asked for a drink, Klaus looked her way. Only this time, he actually noticed her. She wasn't being quiet about her requests, and she was looking right at him. Something inside of him twisted and he knew that this was different. She was just some girl. He downed another shot and then got one more after that before he heard it. He was quiet about it, but he knew. He stood from his spot, knocking the stool back, being all dramatic to try and throw her off. It didn't matter anyway. No one in the bar would remember anything in the morning.
He was by her side in an instant, stepping in front of Stefan and grabbing the other man, Ray he thought his name was, but the arm. She was even smaller up close, he realized. Which was strange. Usually it was the other way around. He frowned at her but she didn't look deterred. A witch. He should have known. There was no way anything would go smoothly at this point. His lucky just wasn't that good. But he didn't know her, didn't recognize any of her features, her scent, although she did smell very good.
Two things stopped him from taking a taste. Curiosity as the what she was doing there, and the certainty that she had vervain somewhere on her body. He shook it off and pressed down hard on Ray's wrist to make him wince. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," he told her sternly. "Unless you want his body parts all over the floor."
He wouldn't really kill Ray. He needed him. But this girl didn't have to know that.

So this was the real Damon Salvatore. Sarcastic, sexy, a pain in the ass. She hadn't even known him a minute, but Alli didn't need to. She could see it in his eyes, in the way he carried himself. And she hated him right at that moment. No, Alli didn't need to know Damon Salvatore to know that he was just a shell of a man. Most older vampires were. It was inevitable. She was going to snap back something witty but was stopped by two girls.
One was blonde and tall; thin, leggy. She didn't like Damon. Alli knew that the moment she saw her. It wasn't hard to guess why, either, but it was really none of her business. She was pretty, though, dressed to the nines in full designer gear. Alli really loved her shoes. She was going to comment on it, but then she saw the girl on her arm. She was shorter and less curvy, but just as pretty. She didn't seem afraid of Damon. Not with that smile.
This was definitely the girl they were looking for. She was so happy that she'd completed her task that she almost didn't hear her speak. She snapped out of her stupor a moment later and smiled in return. She held out a hand. "Alli. It's nice to meet you both." She was going to say something else, but Damon was in her way then, whispering something that she couldn't hear in Elena's ear. The other girl looked happy and smiled at him. It was strange.
"So," she said once he was gone. "The boys have been buzzing about me?"
Ophelia looked over to Ray who whimpered in pain, and casually turned to the man holding Ray. "Go right ahead." she smirked, and she let her hold off of Stefan. He slowly stood up, and looked to her. "It's be quite a waste though. I just wanted your attention. You're Klaus right?" she asked and Ray looked at her. He almost glared at her, and she offered him a smile. It was time to initiate her part of the plan. To keep Klaus away from Mystic Falls as best she could, but without giving herself away. She had volunteered for this because Klaus had always intrigued her, and she stood up and offered a hand.
She stood only about 5'2", and her looks definitely betrayed her age. "Ophelia Rizolia. The witch grapevine told me you've lost your witches, and, against the better judgement of many of them, I have come to offer my services. Sorry for being rather rude to your friend there, in my defense, he was being rude to me." she said, and Ray stared at her in disbelief.
"How could you!" he growled, and she looked at him.
"Sorry, Ray. I told you, our friendship ended long ago." she said to him and Stefan looked at her and Ray looked just as stunned.
"But I-" he began and Ophelia looked up to Klaus.
"How do I prove my worth?" she asked.

Damon sighed, walking about the party and through the crowds of people with the girl-Alli's- drink. He sighed when he finally got it and when he returned he stopped just a little bit away and listened to the conversation for a few moments.
"What have the boys been saying?" Elena asked, looking to Caroline, who always seemed to know everything about... well... everything.
"All sorts of things. How you look super cute, and how pretty you are, and a few vulgar things from really drunk ones, but mostly you are pretty high on their lists. You're already set up with dates until the end of the year if you wanted them. I know Matt looked pretty interested." Caroline's face soured and Elena rubbed her arm. "Matt's a really good guy, just stay away from Damon. He's a total player."
Elena shot her a look. "Yes, Damon is, but he's got a heart too. Caroline likes to forget that."
Damon took that as his cue and he placed the girl's drink in her hand. Oh Damon took that one as a challenge all in itself. He smiled to her. "Sorry took so long, got spilled and had to get a new cup. Enjoy the party." he said, and his phone rang. "I have a friend to go get." he smiled, and Elena looked at him.
"Alaric?" she asked.
"Yes." he answered.
Klaus looked from the new woman--well, witch--to Stefan, and then to the angry, betrayed looking werewolf in his arms. Well, he thought to himself. This was certainly an interesting situation. Although not unexpected. He should have realized that his need of a witch would travel quickly. While the world was full of noble witches who would rather die than protect a vampire, there were those who were willing to do anything for a little power and the right connections. This girl seemed to be one of the latter. It wasn't surprising. What was kind of sad though, was the werewolf's reaction. Didn't he know?
Never trust a witch.
"Prove your worth?" He asked, interested even though he knew that he probably shouldn't be. It seemed that she and Ray had had some sort of past. Killing him would definitely prove that she wanted something. Maybe not something from him, but something. Although he needed Ray; as sad as that was. He was useful. He glanced around the bar, eyes searching out the perfect victim. It was an easy way to ferret out the serious witches from the ones who weren't.
There, by the corner. A tall girl with blonde hair pulling into a twist at the nape of her neck. He caught her eye from across the room and beckoned her over. She was by his side quickly. With his free hand, he grabbed her arm and pushed her towards the witch. "If you want my loyalty, I need yours. I'll ask you to kill. Kill her." He said, his eyes steely on hers, daring her to back down.
~~~~
Alli had been about to say something when Damon--speak of the devil--squeezed in between them. He was holding a drink for her. She took it with a small smile; nothing "come hither" but enough to let him know that she was interested. She wasn't of course. But he was close to Elena and she needed to be close to the doppelganger as well. It was kind of sad. She wished that he wasn't such a bad person. He was actually kind of cute.
"I know guys like Damon," she said as soon as he was gone, phone pressed to his ear. Elena had said something about someone named Alaric. She didn't know who that was, but it must have been someone important. The Salvatore's definitely didn't waste time with minor individuals. As soon as both girl's attention was back on her, she continued. "But I'm not looking. For guys. But friends?" She gave the two girls a disarming smile.
"It's hard being in a new place," she said, lamenting. That was actually true. She always hated the constant moving around. Growing up, she had always envisioned a two story with a white picket fence and a loving husband and kids running around the lawn. But that idea had quickly faded, along with her innocence. "And it helps if you know people," she added, shaking of the vestiges of a memory.
Ophelia looked at the woman who Klaus had brought over to kill and she studied her features momentarily. She was tall, about six inches taller than she was, and beautiful. That meant she took good care of herself, and she noted her build. It was athletic. That was definitely good, and she looked at the woman before she took hold of her hand and the woman looked down to her. "I'm so sorry for this, sweetheart, but you are a necessary sacrifice." Ophelia said and she tightened her grip on the woman's hand and before the woman could try to break away, Ophelia was already taking her life energy. Once the woman slumped to the ground and Ophelia touched the side of her neck she looked to Klaus. "No pulse. You can check her yourself if you want." she said, but before Ophelia completely moved away she pulled something from her bag and placed it over the the woman's eyes. It was an herb dust, and Ophelia tucked it back in her bag before she stood.
"Anything else?" she asked him, and Ray just looked at Ophelia.
"What did you do?" he asked, and Ray looked crushed. Like he had known the woman almost.
"Took her energy. What? 139 years of life, and I have to find a way to keep myself from losing my innocent form." Ophelia commented, and she sighed. "Came with perks, disadvantages too, but more perks that I personally like."
Stefan looked at the body and soon saw how pale the body already was, and when he went to check the body's eyes, he felt his fingers burn. Vervain? Why? "Why did you cover her eyes with vervain?"
"Trust me, you don't want to see her eyes right now." Ophelia assured her, but her gaze never left Klaus. She was studying him, his eyes especially. He emitted energy, raw, almost dark, energy. She didn't like being in this sort of proximity with him suddenly, but not because the feel she was getting off of him was bad. It was... intoxicating. Her dealings with dark magic had definitely changed what she could and couldn't be around. "Anything else?" she asked.
-&-
Damon sighed as he got into the car and went to pick up Alaric. He was his best friend, his brother almost, but still Damon hadn't given up on his search for his actual brother. Stefan had gone with Klaus as payment for the cure to a werewolf bite, and all he could do now was search for them. The house in Tennessee had definitely been Stefan. His old ripper was coming out, and he knew that all Elena would want was for Stefan to be back safe and sound. He sighed and honked his horn in front of Alaric's loft and soon his buddy came down.
"Sorry I'm so late getting ready. Took me a few minutes to find my keys." he admitted and Damon chuckled slightly.
"It's alright. There's a new girl at the party. Young, about Elena's age. I wonder what her deal is." he said to him, and Alaric looked at him.
"You think something's off about her?" he asked.
"She seems pretty shady to me." Damon said.
-&-
Elena and Caroline smiled to Alli. "Well, we could be your friends. Around here, everyone is pretty tight knit, but we're not close-minded to new people. You might be mauled the first day of school though." Elena said, and Caroline nodded.
"Oh yeah, I remember last year. Got a new guy and all the girls were all..." Caroline kind of drifted off on her statement looking to Elena. "Sorry."
"It's alright." Elena said. "But come on, let's introduce Alli to Jeremy and Matt, so she can get acquainted with them too."
Caroline nodded and hooked arms with Alli too as they headed towards a quieter part of the home. "Oh, stoner den." Caroline went to move away, but she dropped Elena's and Alli's arms, and she noted Damon and Alaric heading up the stairs before she spotted Matt sitting with Jeremy, and the look on Elena's face said it all. "Elena."
"That is a total buzz kill." she mumbled, but soon Matt walked over to them.
"Happy birthday, Elena." he said, kissing her cheek and Elena smiled to him, but when he walked off Caroline sighed.
"He hates me." she grumbled, and Elena looked over to Caroline who looked to Alli.
"Have you ever had a guy you were dating and really liked not be able to accept you after something bad happened?" Caroline asked her and Elena sighed.
"He doesn't hate you Caroline, he's still just processing everything." Elena said and Caroline sighed and walked away-more like stormed off. Elena looked at her. "Sorry about her, come on, I'll bring you up to meet Alaric. He's the school history teacher, and he was dating my aunt before she..." Elena looked down at that. "He's just really close to us. Come on." Elena said, towing Alli off to the balcony where Alaric and Damon were sitting, drinking their bourbon.
"Happy Birthday, Elena." Alaric said to her, and Damon raised a glass. "Who is this?"
"This is Alli, Alaric. She's new to town." Elena introduced and Damon stood.
"So you're name is Alli. Nice to know." he said, and Alaric shot him a look, but he offered his hand out to Alli.
"I'm Alaric Saltzman. Don't mind Damon, he can be a dick sometimes." he said and Damon lowered his gaze at him. "It's true."
Damon rolled his eyes. "Always with the 'Damon's a bad guy' front." he grumbled.
Klaus watched the following interaction with interest. He saw the woman, the witch, stare the other girl down. She had looked frightened and scared and then terrified as her hand was taken. But then she crashed to the ground, eyes slipping shut, skin pale white, even whiter than his own. She said that he should check her pulse, but he didn't need to. He could tell. There was no heartbeat and he could smell no life coming from her anymore. He stared at the dead body for a moment, and then to the witch across from him.
He contemplated her, curious. She didn't look deceitful, she didn't smell deceitful. She also didn't sound deceitful. But coming out of nowhere, regardless of whatever connections she claimed to have, was suspicious in and of itself. She was hiding something. She must have been. Because there was no way she would be here if she wasn't. In all his years, Klaus had never worked with a witch who hadn't come to work with him without expecting something in return. This girl would be no different.
Ray, the werewolf, seemed shocked. Maybe she had been a good person once. It was his experience that witches never stayed that way for long. Power was intoxicating, and witches--especially old ones like her--had a lot of it. There was something to be said for the intelligence that she could offer. But at what cost?
"What did you say your name was?" He asked, eying her. He gestured for Stefan to take the dead woman's body out of the building. He would have to dispose of it in the back somehow.
~~~~
Alli took Alaric's hand and squeezed. He had a firm grip. It was nice for a change. Part of her wanted to kill Elena for letting her name slip, but it wasn't like she'd told the other girl that that was a secret. Something that obvious would have looked suspicious. And she was still kind of focused on the blonde girl--Caroline--who had left them just a minute ago. She'd been staring at a blonde boy but he hadn't even looked at her. There must have been something there.
The mild argument going on in front of her brought her back from her thoughts. She tore her eyes from the doorway and looked at the other man. He was tall, built just enough to look like he worked out, with dirty blonde hair and the slightest bit of stubble. His eyes looked sad and she supposed that it had to do with what Elena had said earlier. The thought made her frown. Death was sad. She'd never liked it, never understood it.
As a witch, death was a natural thing. Many used it as their main power source. Lia did sometimes. Alli had never understood it herself. She had never really tried to. Something so dark didn't deserve a place in her mind.
"It's nice to meet you," she said brightly. Then she smirked at Damon. "I don't think you're a bad guy." Her eyes danced with laughter. "Then again, you could be. I don't know you."
