    1965: Andy Warhol's Superstar - OOC

    1965: ANDY WARHOL'S
    SUPERSTAR

    Charisma / Beauty / Talent / Addiction

    The Factory, NYC

"The way those sons-of-bitches took advantage of me. Warhol is a sadistic ______."
    - Edie Sedgwick

    SETTING

    March, 1965,
231 East 47th Street, Midtown Manhattan

The Factory, Andy Warhol's notorious film studio.

    STORY

Up and coming, beautiful and talented men and women compete for the title of Andy Warhol's Superstar. To become the talk of town and climb the ladder of success at all costs. Our young and naive characters are so enthralled by the promise of fame they sacrifice their integrity and dangle on a string, controlled by Andy Warhol and The Factory. Their self respect and lives hang in the balance as they fall deeper into a blackhole. Will they come to their senses before all is lost? Or will they become Andy Warhol's Superstar?

They will battle social struggles like ridicule and rumors. Feature in Andy's films, go about their own endeavors and socialize with celebrities of the swinging sixties.

    STATISTICS

Character statistics will determine how Andy, The Factory, the media and the public perceive your character. In order to fully realize your dreams and take advantage of in game Events and Scenarios you must increase your stats.

    Charisma
Charisma corresponds to how witty and socially comfortable your character becomes. A character with high Charisma will be at the center of every party. The media responds well to charismatic characters and who knows, perhaps your silver tongue can impress Andy.

It's said, if you were to know everyone who bad mouths you you wouldn't have any friends. A character with more friends opens up more possibilities to be scrutinized. Can you handle the gossip?

    Beauty
A lot of doors will open for a beautiful character. From keeping skinny to getting your hair done anything you do to impress the superficial world of The Factory and the media will be beneficial to your character. Being seen on the arm of a celebrity could boost your profile exponentially.

Jealousy and heartache lay in the path of a beautiful character.

    Talent
A talented character is a rarity in The Factory. Your character will shine bright amongst the talentless slobs and jobless "artists".

The unfortunate truth is that The Factory are a superficial bunch. Risking all your time on talent means your character doesn't have the time to waste on Beauty and Charisma, arguably much more important in Andy's world.

    Addiction
Your character is exposed to wild things in their quest for fame. Drug use will give your character a quick boost in all stats, an effective way of gaining confidence at a party or before filming.

The more you take the more you need. Addiction will slowly rot away at your character. It's a vicious circle.

    CHARACTERS

An artist? A singer? An actress? A model? Or just a socialite. Your character has to encompass everything trendy in the swinging sixties. You need to stand out whatever the cost.

    Character Sheet

    APPEARANCE

    NAME:

    SOUP

    Charisma -
    Beauty -
    Talent -
    Addiction -

Appearance and Name speak for themselves. Under SOUP I'd like you to imagine your character has been cast in a film by Andy Warhol called SOUP. It's up to you to imagine what the film is about and what your character is doing in it. Remember to communicate your character's personality. What are they thinking? What do they say in between takes? At least three paragraphs please! I'll be writing one too. After reading your SOUP I'll grade your starting statistics.

    GAMEPLAY

    Andy
Andy is particularly fickle. One day you could be his best friend, the next your nobody. Andy could cast you in his latest movie, invite you on a trip to Paris, ask you to accompany him to the latest screening or simply just call you for a chat. You choose how your character responds and in those responses lie your characters hope of succeeding.

    Chapters
The Roleplay will begin on Chapter One which will be called March. The chapter will cover everything that happens with your character in The Factory in the month of March. There will be nine Chapters in total, each referring to the months of 1965.

    Events and Scenarios
Everyday there will either be an Event or a Scenario. An Event is a big occasion like a Film Screening or a major celebrity coming into the factory to shoot a film. In order to attend an Event and take full advantage of it your Stats must meet the requirement.

A Scenario is a minor occurrence that will reward your character with Stat Increases. An example would be, Andy calls you late at night for advice.

    Real Life Events
Everything that really happened in 1965 will effect your character.

    NAME: Valery Grendel

    SOUP

As he was given his script Valery merely lifted a well manicured eyebrow and smirked in triumph. This was his chance, the chance he had been waiting for his whole life. He would be rich, he would be famous and he would have his every desires fulfilled at the same time. The movie was the story of a nightclub called Soup, where addiction was rampant and the sweaty bodies were so close together that it gave the club it's name, an unsanitary prospect to be sure but what was a little in sweat with the unwashed masses if it could lead to Fame? Nothing, that was!

He was cast as a heroin addled male stripper, a thing that would have shocked many, but not him, he had done much worse in his short life after all. The script was simple as he was foremost a model but her had some interesting lines that would be sure to attract the right people to him. He would have to look lovely and fortunately looking lovely was natural to him, the hundred of dollars he put into his appearance each years aiding with that. The costume was skimpy and scratchy but he would bear it for now, he could always be odious to the other actor later to compensate, after all. That and he would rather have the staff on his side during the whole project as he wanted to look his best for this.

Smiling charmingly at the makeup artist even if she wasn't that pretty, he aimlessly flirted with her as she pampered him into a vision of androgynous beauty. He was itching for a smoke but would hold it off until the next break, not wanting to mess up his carefully applied makeup for what could very well be his first step into glory. A few minutes lated and he was ready, approaching the podium of the set and adopting a sultry smile as he grabbed a stripping pole nearby.

    “And... Action!” Said Andy.

He did his best, twirling and seducing to the utmost of his abilities as his lack of proper lines making his body language essential. He would not fail now.

    NAME: Prudence White

    SOUP
Pru felt a bit silly as she looked at herself. She was dressed only in Saran Wrap that was wrapped around her starting just below her arm pits and down to her thighs barely concealing the fact that she was wearing flesh colored panties.
Andy had at first had her nude but decided he liked the idea of the audience straining to see if she was completely nude.
Pru had no trouble appearing nude before a camera so long as it wasn't a blue film, if she made love to someone she wanted to at least like them.
One of the crew was trying to chat her up and obviously entranced by her breasts because in the fifteen minutes since he'd started talking to her he'd only looked her in the eyes twice.
Some girls would have been angry or embarrassed by such attention but Pru saw it as proof of her feminine power, she could lead this poor sex addicted man to do anything she wanted.
Andy called her on set breaking the spell and told her that he wanted her to become a product for sale.
Basically he wanted her to stand and look vacuously pretty while a man and woman haggled over her price. Pru took her spot and found the role easy because it was one she'd played many times and for some reason she knew that Andy knew that as well.
She smiled her expression as plastic as a Barbie doll, she was a piece of meat for sale.
Her role was little more than a statue, she was to represent the modeling industry's product, a girl up for sale because of her assets and nothing more.
Pru endured the male actor fondling her breasts and body using every ounce of her self control to remain motionless.
"CUT, cut, damit cut!" yelled Andy as he stood and paced a moment
This scene needs something, it's too overdone.
Pru darling can you Ad lib?
    asked Andy
Pru smiled thinking now's my chance to be more than a prop
I can Mr. Warhol says Pru with a smile
Right then, Elaine you'll be the buyer this time and Pru you're a piece of meat that wants to be sold before you get too old and has to be thrown away
Action was called and everyone went silent on set.
Elaine walked on scene stopping to look at Pru with a critical expression
Oh sugar don't be makin that face I'm a prime choice of meat, ya'll won't find none better says Pru in her sweetest drawl as she turns first one side to Elaine then the other displaying all her curves.
I don't know, you look kind of old to me says Elaine
Why what ever gave you that idea, I'm so tasty I'll melt right in your mouth.. Softly giggles Pru
You look good but you also look like you've been handled more than I like.
I bet everyone who's come in here has squeezed you
Says Elaine with a questioning look
I am I assure you fresh an untouched by the hands of man and so tender you just wouldn't believe says Pru in a sultry voice her eyes smoldering as she looks into Elaine's eyes taking a deep breath to expand her chest and enhance her breasts
Pru notes that Elaine's expression has shifted and that she's getting turned on by their exchange
So you say you taste good but how do I know that's true? asks Elaine her voice lower now and filled with desire
I suppose a sample wouldn't hurt none answers Pru as she reaches out and pulls Elaine close and kisses her with passion for a few brief moments
See I told you I was tha finest tastin meat in this here shop says Pru with a knowing smile as she sees Elaine's reaction
Wow that nearly blew my mind I will take you, hell I want to eat you right now says Elaine as she grabs Pru and kisses her

    "Cut"
Is all Andy says as he stands and walks away not showing wether he liked the scene or not.
Pru giggles as she has to push Elaine off her but is worried that she may have gone too far

    NAME: Lazlo Zlotnik (Male)

    SOUP
    "Oh, Ugh, Action."

Lazlo sat cross legged atop a pile of naked muscle men strewn across one another. He was directed to pay more attention to his nails than absolutely anything else. For this scene he must convey his undying love for his well manicured and securely bonded nails. As the camera purred he thought about how utterly, undeniably, flawless he looked in today's day time drag; the lens capturing every vain micro-communication his face displayed.

"Oh, Ugh, maybe you should stand on top of them. Yeah, let's do that."

Lazlo hoisted to mid-thigh the fabulously flamboyant gown he wore and begrudgingly stood tall; his lips silently pouting sass to everyone in the room. The spike of Lazlo's hooker stiletto dug painfully into the raw back flesh of the unfortunate muscle Mary that found himself the top of the abstract pyramid. The poor uncomfortable fellow let out a cry to which Lazlo appeared offended by, "SHHH." he said aggressively.

"Mhh, Yeah. Ohh, Yeah that's perfect. You're going to be a star."

The reel began to spin once again. A group of women stepped into the frame carrying opened cans of Campbell's Tomato Soup. Rhythmically they roared, "Beauty is murder!" and proceeded to thrust tomato soup over Lazlo and the naked men. Lazlo, a determined warrior remained relentlessly fixated on his nails. The mound of man meat began to chirp up, "Beauty is murder." they repeated, again and again in monotone.

"And cut. The next scene is the alien abduction."

    NAME:

    Angelina Harding

    SOUP

She'd heard all manner of wild rumours surrounding Andy Warhol and his famous Factory, but one point on which everyone agreed was that if you became one of his 'Factory People', he would turn you into a star. Glancing down at her elegant new black gown, she ran two gloved fingertips along the pearls clasping her through and marvelled at- "Ouch!" Angelina straightened up, one hand to her hair and arched a brow quizzically at the makeup artist in her apricot slacks. "I said hold still, girl! We're nearly late, and if you make Mr Warhol wait he's just as likely to replace you with the next face he sees and call it Avant Garde!" Angelina held her pose and stayed silent for the next few minutes, as her hair was swept up into a high do and clasped with glittering diamonds - the very picture of an elegant socialite. Finally rising from her stool, she leant in (carefully!) and embraced the artist with a dazzling smile, "Thank you Sandy; I'm sorry if I was distracted, all this is just a little..." she shrugged helplessly, "overwhelming, you know?" The other woman's face softened and she returned a small squeeze, then spun Angelina about with a last word of advice and a pat on the behind to set her in the right direction. "Relax honey - you can do this, just pretend you're at home with a couple of your girl friends. Now go get 'em!"

Angelina swayed her way across the room and through the door, heels clicking on the polished stone floor as she entered the 'studio'. In the centre of all the cameras, lights and equipment she couldn't BEGIN to explain was a small table with a single wrought-iron chair pulled up to it. From somewhere in the swarm of people bustling about, a man appeared and thrust a long silver cigarette holder into her left hand. "Soup, Act 1, Scene 1, Take 1 - aaaaand action!" Once again she found herself nudged forward by a hand to her behind, though she missed the leering half-smile from her impromptu 'helper'. Catching herself just before she stumbled into shot, the young woman slipped into long slinky steps that carried her across the cameras and to the chair, where she sat and slid herself into place. Lifting the unfamiliar cigarette holder between two fingers, she twirled it up and smiled into the camera (and at Andy, behind it), her large dark eyes betraying her unalloyed happiness. Behind her, the vista of an upmarket restaurant and the clinking of cutlery mingled with soft lilting conversation, just too soft to make out. From the right of shot, a man is seen (from the chest down) walking in with a spotless white napkin over his wrist, placing a bowl of steaming red liquid before her and then striding off-shot... and the stage is set.

What came next was entirely unexpected - a full and uninterrupted hour of conversation with one of Andy's friends, who never actually came into shot; simply asking her questions about her day, what she thought of the latest trends in fashion. Was she acquainted with Vonda Van Dyke? (Yes, they'd been at school together). Each answer interspersed with a spoonful of increasingly cool tomato soup until the bowl was empty and she set her spoon down with a porcelain clink. At one point she'd started to ask a question of her own, but a quick frown dissuaded her and she segued it into, "Waiter, more soup please?" There was a moment's stunned silence as she'd apparently gone off-'script', and all eyes turned to Andy. Seeing him laughing silently, Angel relaxed and shot a dazzling smile his way. From then on it was easy enough, and when the final question was done she absently set the cigarette holder between her lips and strutted off away from camera to the opening chords of "My Girl" as the picture faded to black. She was a Factory Girl - but would she be a star?

    That was up to Andy.
