Name: Elise Thorgestrdottir
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Bio:Simple farmers in the high lands, Elise' parents were nearly defenseless when the raiders came to their village. They came like a wild fire and left the area devoid of life and resources, taking with them everything they could carry, and what the families they took for slaves could drag. They were taken to what would be Denmark and put to work, her mother as a house slave, and her father as a field hand. Little did her mother know, that their owner's wife was barren, and she had been taken as a surrogate mother to further the bloodline. Needless to say, her father was enraged when he found out his wife had been impregnated by the man he despised, and in the night he stole her away with the help of fellow slaves and made for the coast line.
But their escape did not go as planned. They were summarily caught, and the man threatened to return them to their master for severe punishment. Pleading for what they thought to be their very lives, her parents did their best to explain themselves to the man and his heart won out. He returned with them to their master and a deal was struck for their ownership. Her parents would work to pay off the debt they owed for their change in owner, as well as to earn their keep in a corner of the man's land.
They stole a fishing boat and made a desperate flee for freedom, running from one strange land to another as they ended up in Sweden. Having learned the basics of the language, her parents did their best to start a new life, again. When Elise was born, her father was filled with conflicted feelings. She was his daughter, but only because he would be forced to raise her. She was never a typical girl, preferring to brawl with the local boys instead of cook and clean with her mother. While Elise's parents tried to keep her upbringing similar to their Celtic traditions, it was inevitable that she would be introduced to Nordic traditions. Much to her parent's disdain, Elise enjoyed fighting and hunting. It was just the kind of challenge she desired, tracking game and matching her wits and strength against others. When her parents found out, she was disowned. Her father cast her out of their household, and only the love of her mother helped Elise in her long journey. Her mother distracted her father long enough for Elise to take a few rations and gear for the road, and after a good bye from her teacher, she left with fire in her heart and weapons in her pack. In a nearby town, she signed on with a group of marauders to Miklagard and fought for her place on the crew, literally.
Elise was determined to join these raiders and find out what else there was in the world besides the home she knew and the home she had been told of. She approached the captain, and was met with a firm denial. "The seas are no place for a woman" was one answer Elise refused to accept. She reasoned with the captain to see i there was any way she could join them, other than stowing away. "Glima" was a new challenge for Elise, and she would be forced to learn quickly. She stumbled her way through a merciful practice run, which ended with a swift toss, and a hard landing. Elise reasoned she had one chance, and she would have to move quickly. The larger captain moved her frame with ease, more ease than he realized as she leapt into the toss, righting herself before her feet reached the ground and she used the captain's own momentum against him. The maneuver caught him off guard, and with all her strength, Elise dragged him to the ground. With hearty laughter, and warm smiles, the captain rose and Elise was welcomed to the crew.
