    ROOM - [MiakisSawada-x-All]

"Even if I try to keep my distance,
You find me in an instant
In a prison of your loving...
    and I can't deny it~"

The soothing yet strict and stressed singing voice of Serena LeChance filled the small cabin known to her as "ROOM" as the young ravenette stirred the soup she'd prepared for the dinner that night - chicken gnocchi (her favorite). Her singing turned to whistling as she picked a different song to sing. Grey eyes looked around for her companion and figured he was hard at work in his study again. He would do things like that often.

Sighing, she turned the burner to a soft boil as she began to wash and prepare the vegetables that would go into the milky soup. "Let's see... dumplings are boiling... soup is bubbling... should we have pasta, too?" She asked herself as she took the knife to the celery and carrots, scraping them into a bowl after she was done with them, soon to go with the white soup. The Italian girl loved to cook things from her ancestors' homeland, and her companion never complained, sooo...

Serena smiled, mixing the vegetables with the soup as she wiped her hands, stepping away from her stations as she set the tables. Two plates. Two forks. Two knives. Two spoons. Two napkins. Two glasses. Two of everything. Serena smiled. Two was a perfect number - it defined her situation perfectly. After napkins were folded and glasses were filled with the white wine they'd always drink, she looked at the door to her companion's study.

Smiling, she wiped her hands on her apron and knocked on the door to the study. "Hello? Are you in there? Supper's almost done."

    Maybe it's for the best.

From the studio a grunt came in reply. It was a positive grunt asking for a few more minutes of work before he could be totally and completely hers. Whatever he was doing seemed elaborately complicated. He was bent on his table, the eyes so close to the surface that one could barely see a space in between them and the object of his focus, on which he had been carefully working since morning. Only once he was interrupted, when the phone rang. For an instant, his eyes moved to her and returned to the ringing box. There was something in his look that changed as he moved away, something beast-like, demonic, as a twitch of raging cruelty surging from the depths of his unbeaten soul.

The phone call had been unpleasant. It started cold, unnecessarily cold, and as the feeling of his power grew clearer, his voice had turned sharp, cutting, carelessly cutting, drinking in blood and foulness, he seemed to draw pleasure in breaking whoever was at the other end of the receiver. "Call me again later, I want to know the details of this" he concluded, like a monster who cannot just bury his victims, but must inflict on them eternal torment.

Finally he moved from his desk. It had taken him only a minute, and she was still there by the door, a pleasant angel from the heavens to nourish him.
"Yes, I am here and I am ready." he cheered, gently. He was kind to her, in measures that surpassed how kind she had been to him. It was not something which he could call love, but desire rather, desire to give her all that he denied to the rest of the world. Perhaps, unknown to him, it truly was love.

"Could you help me to the table?" he asked.

"O-Oh, indeed!" Serena exclaimed, offering her arm to him as a notion of her help. She would always do this, help him to the table and back, and in return, he was hers for the night. Cuddling, tickling, wrestling, kissing - all of it. He would care for her until her heart and mind were both sleepy, and then they would retire for the night. It was their routine.

She set him down in the chair, pushing him in and kissing him on the cheek. "It's chicken and gnocchi," she giggled, "I hope you like it. Made with love." She sat down across from him, smiling as she lit the three candles they used as their centerpiece. "Bad day at work, dear?" She asked, folding her hands softly, waiting for him to take the first bite of the soup.

    Maybe it's for the best.

(OOC: sorry, I did not see you posting...)

"Bad day? No, dear, not quite. What made you think so?" he lied. He knew she heard him talking on the phone, and she surely noticed how his working habits had grown increasingly unpleasant. He was just not himself anymore, and it had become harder to pull himself together in the face of the realization that he was as good as done. "I had an excellent day. I even got this phone call... you should have heard it. Quite entertaining indeed."

He plunged his eyes onto the dinner, and eagerly dipped the fork, biting the meat, savoring every bite of the gnocchi and slurping the juicy sauce that came with it. That pleasure of food was nothing compared to what she could give him in the intimacy of their cuddles. She was so good to him, so deeply affectionate and tender, that it made him powerless and defenseless. Away from the rest of mankind, the ROOM was their little corner of paradise to rejoice together, and he worked hard to keep every tentacle of the dying world from intruding.

"Any plans for tonight?" he asked.

"Same as always, dear." Serena looked up at him and smiled. "Staying here with you." She rolled a dumpling around in her bowl for a moment before catching it with her spoon and eating it. Eyebrows raised as she swallowed the treat.

"And to you?" Serena asked. "Are you going out tonight? I mean, you usually don't, but there's always room for change..."

    Maybe it's for the best.
