Nello "Nel" Mackenzie
Okama~! (... Psh. Fine. Male
Rank and Occupation:
Seaman Recruit, Soldier / Self-proclaimed professional beautician
As a man, Nel has an average build. He stands at 5'11" and due to his special type of training, he has a toned body that isn't lanky nor muscular and broad either, just bordering in between. Nel was initially labeled as a pretty boy, until the "boy" part start diminishing and the "pretty" became a little too
pretty. His hair is turquoise and styled short, with various long strands in some places. His eyes are light brown in color, and are very defined due to his brilliant use of eyeliner. When working as a marine, he wears the disgusting standard marine uniform, cleans his smooth and soft face, and ties his silky hair into a small ponytail. And when he is no longer required to wear such dreadful garments and follow protocol, he does not hesitate to put on some lipstick and eye shadow nor flaunt his wardrobe which consists of an array of bright clothing and high-heeled boots.
Nel is vain, narcissistic and impervious to people's criticism. He is who he is and he is damn proud of it. All of his actions and speeches are flamboyant and eye-catching, helping him fulfill his need to bask in attention. Though if you ignore how annoying he can get, Nel is actually a pretty good and nice guy. He is observant to people's moods and knows what to say to comfort or encourage them. WhSen it comes to ideals and principles, expect his to be honorable and just. Certainly there are times when he is selfish and proud, but he knows when his help is needed and if his actions are wrong.
Nel was born in the capital village of Leroch island, a regular and civilized island that had a large population and was self-sustaining in all areas. It was a very traditional, practical, and, as Nel constantly complains, boring place to live. Once leaving the island, the first place he went to was the closest Marine Base he could apply at, S-08. The commanding officer was hesitant at first, but with the sudden arrival of the Age of Pirates, they needed any help they could get.
Nel carries the usual sword and rifle that all marines are assigned with, but is subpar in using them. He's more of a hand-to-hand combat kind of guy, particularly in the magnificent art of Okama Kenpo. He has tried various other styles, but the grace and fluidity of the Okama Kenpo had him mesmerized the first time he saw it. He is not particularly skilled in it yet, since his only reference is a one-time visit to an Okama master and various books and scrolls regarding the style.
