Just click Copy even though it has the + symbol. You should get an option for your USB.
If not, might be a faulty drive or USB, mine's working fine.
Alright since I can find nothing, I was wondering if anyone here would happen to know some solution for my problem.
Alright, for those who did not have this problem with their Mass Effect 1 at least but it apparently happens to all three, the problem is that the game save will disappear. This happens with XBox, sometimes PC and PS3 which has the most problem so I've seen.
Basically, I've played through all the way until I'm about to leave the Citadel (which takes 5 hours for me because I'm a explore, talkative try and do everything nut) and then I go to bed and POOF bye bye. Now this has happened after I left the citadel, during the citadel and even before. Multiple saves or profiles does not matter, all poof.
Yes, I turned auto save off, I turned off Internet, all done no good. Yes I've called PS3 and they tried to help, though believed it was a software problem.
So now I need to go test it out to see if it works. It seems to work, but I'm only at the very start of the game. It hasn't disappeared, despite switching games (which happens often since a friend is also playing a game) and honestly I'm a bit worn out of playing five hours and no progress. This has only happened with Mass Effect, all other game files are fine.
So, just in case, I wanted to try and back up the game file with a USB. Sadly, now there is a nice pS plus symbol next to the copy and the USB does not show up when I press it.
So there, my lovely frustrating problem. :P

Sounds like a system specific defect, which is going to be an absolute bitch to get solved.
I wish I could tell you more than that.
You could always get Plus and use the online storage. Sure, you'd have to pay, but far less than having to get a new system if you can't find a solution.
Hope it works out, though. I've had my share of problems with my PS3, and I know it can be a goddamn nightmare.

Mhmm true but apparently even the online storage doesn't work for others.
But thanks for the help![]()

Have tried checking you got the file tree thing right?
If you didn't that might be the reason the USB isn't being read

Simply put you need to organize the directory of the Folders for PS3 stuff in order for the machine to recognize the memory stick
- PS3
- EXPORT
- BACKUP (created via PS3 backup feature)
- 200911131808 (date backup was performed, format=YYYYMMDDHHMM)
- archive.dat
- archive_00.dat
- archive_[XX].dat
- archive2.dat
- archive2_00.dat
- archive2_[XX].dat
- PSV (PS1/PS2 game saves)
- BESLES-544543032.PSV
- SAVEDATA (PS3 game saves)
- BCES00001_PROFILE
- ICON0.PNG
- PARAM.PFD
- PARAM.SFO
- PROFILE.SAV
- BCES00078-GAMEAUTOSAVE
- ICON0.PNG
- ICON1.PAM
- PARAM.PFD
- PARAM.SFO
- PIC1.PNG
- SND0.AT3
- USERDATA.DAT

thing is you don't need to copy everything down that I pasted
It was an example of just how the directory is supposed to be structured.
PS3″/”SAVEDATA”/”THE FILES NAME”
PS3 is the root then you'd stick inside the folder SAVEDATA. Which needs to be exactly in all caps for it to be recognized. Then within SAVEDATA is the foldier with the game name although you might just skip that since you're only handling one save file and not multiple
