Wild West - The Living Dead

    IC - http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...67#post8654967

    Sheriffs journal. June 5.

We strung up a red called 'Little Tree' yesterday for horse theft. He pleaded his innocence to the very last, but several ranchers have seen him skulking around for the last few months. After the hanging I was approached by another red, a shaman or whatever those savages calls it. He too claimed that the boy was innocent, big surprise, and also said that we'd regret hanging a pure spirit.
I showed him out with the tip of my boot and had the deputy's run the crazy old sod out of town.
I didn't think much more about it until tonight when I was most forcefully awoken by a hellish racket outside. I left the bed and in the light of the stars and moon I could just about make out the gallows and Little Tree. He was swining back and forth, trying to get loose.
I drew my trusted revolver and expertly put a bullet between his eyes.
I don't know how he could've survived the hanging, I'd be damned if I'd give that horse thief a chance to run.

After today, I'm starting to regret hanging the boy. Folks in town have been hearing things. Growls, scratches on the doors and windows, figures roaming the streets after dark. I never put much stock in them reds and their magic, but something unnatural is going on here.

Welcome to Trader's Ridge. A small town in the wild wild West. But something is very, very wrong here...
    -
You can play a Native American, one of the townspeople or a bandit that has come to town for not-so-good purposes.
Rules - Yes I know, but every rp needs some
    1. No god-modding.
    2. Romance, if there is any while zombies are running around, needs to be kept PG-13 or taken to PM.
    3. Please try to limit your posting so no one gets left behind. If you and another person has posted 2 or 3 times, wait for everyone else to catch up before posting again.
    4. No, I repeat NO one-liners. I HATE them. They make my eye twitch.
    5. No arguing with me or anyone I appoint as Co-GM.
    6. Any major plot points like death of a main character, if you want to be a primary (example : the true horse thief, the sheriff, the medicine man/shaman) please PM me and request before taking the role.
    7. I reserve the right to add more rules should I see fit to.
    8. If you have read all of the rules (yes all of them) put your favorite drink under your CS.

    -
Alright, now that we have gotten that out of the way, let's move on to the CS:

    Appearance:
    Name: Star Dancing
    Age: 18
Occupation: unmarried woman - cooking, scraping hides, helping with various chores
Gear: her knife, moccasins, water pouch, elk jerky, blanket, beads to trade with
Weapons: a stone knife her brother gave her for protection, has leather wrapped around the handle and a hawk's feather tied to it
Brief History: Little Tree was Star Dancing's little brother. She is the daughter of the tribe's shaman or medicine man. She is aware of the powerful magic her father is involved in and also of how bitter and vengeful he is.
When she learned of the curse he placed on the white man's town, she set out to break it. Because with a great curse such as this, a great sacrifice must be made. She has already lost her little brother, she does not wish to lose her father as well to his own stubbornness.

    Appearance:
    Name: Sarah Gatlin
    Age: 25
Occupation: runs the bar in town ever since her husband died six months ago
Gear: revolver, 1 box of ammunition, 1 box of matches, anything she can find in her bar including alcohol, money, rags and glasses.
    Weapons:
Brief History: Sarah Gatlin and her husband ran the Golden Nugget saloon up until he died suddenly from fever. Everyone thought Sarah would sell and go back east, but she surprised them by keeping the bar not only open but doing quite well. She has no problem with you as long as you take whatever fight you're in outside. And if you think you can make trouble in her place, think again. She keeps a large Irish bouncer for just such problems.

roleplaying - I'm sorry but you need more history than that. Why is he in Trader's Ridge? How did he become a bounty hunter? And you need to read the rules. And you missed something in your CS. It's my fault. I said 'no anime' when I should have been a little more specific. I would rather everyone who joins use a real person pic.

    And here's me.

    Name:
    Jack Carter.
    Age: 28 years.
    Occupation: Deputy.
Appearance: Jack is a well-built man, still in his prime. His hair is short and brown, which also happens to be the colour of his eyes. He´s always clean-shaved and even though he's worked with the law for several years he's still unharmed, not a single scar.

He's wearing a black Stetson hat, dark blue shirt and gray/blue pants. A pair of leather boots (spurrs, of course) and a black duster completes his clothes.

Personality: Jack is not a diplomat. He's kind of hot-headed and a bit stubborn, but he'll make sure to get things done.

Background: Jack grew up in America during the civil war and became accustomed to death and fighting as some of it actually happened on his fathers land. He was a good boy and kept himself out of trouble most of the time. As a farmers son he grew strong and was raised with a good sense of right and wrong.

His father owned a Smith&Wesson revolver and young Jack was taught to shoot old rusty cans with it. He loved it, but wasn't a very good shot.
A few years later, Jack was 20, he moved away from home and settled in a nearby town called Ravine as there was one present. There he worked as a handy-man and was considered a good fellow by most of the town. Even the sheriff asked him for help sometimes. The town sheriff was an old man who worked the law in a calm community, and Jack was young and strong. When someone had gotten drunk at the saloon, Jack was there to carry the man outside. Sometimes they tried to fight back, but Jack was better at it.
Some time ago Jack saw a letter lying in the sheriffs office. Jack's a poor reader at best, but he got the sheriff to read it out for him. Apparently, the mayor of a place called Trader's ridge needed some good lawmen, and had sent a letter out to every nearby town in search for some. The old sheriff encouraged Jack to go, saying that they'd have to search long and hard to find a better man.

Equipment: One Colt Peacemaker with a 7½" barrel for better accuracy on the right side of his hip.
One Bowie knife strapped to his left thigh.
One winchester rifle '73, usually carried on his back or in it's saddle holster.
A gun-belt and holster containing thirty .44 bullets (not counting the ones already loaded in his guns).
He also owns a horse named "Sadie" and the needed riding-equipment.

Other: Jack isn't a good shot because he's a bit near-sighted. Targets that are more than 40 meters away gets too blurry to hit accurately. This has no effect on his hand-to-hand fighting skills which are a lot sharper than his shooting. Jack is a good drinker, and likes his whiskey, but his favorite drik is still a cold beer.

Hal - I would usually insist on a pic, but since you had such a good description I will make an exception Accepted of course.
Wolf - Late 1800's, around the turn of the century

I come from a mystical place, a roleplaying site far away. Where images were seldom used and never to describe ones characteristics, because only lazy holes-in-butts did that...
Also i find my lack of skills in describing people deplorable and feels that I need to improve them. Will try to find a picture if it should be required later on.
