This glorious Ethernal Empire, created by man and blessed by God.

700 years ago, this glorious domain of God was born. From the ashes of the Gladisan Republic, Julius Kaiser seized power, crowning himself the first Emperor of this empire of true glory.

Barbarians, fools, infidels and heathens all wanted a part of the glory of Ether. But our armies, built from the finest steel from the greatest craftsmen and commanded by the brilliant commanders of Ether, we held them back and even expanded.

There are things that are not meant to end. Like the sun. Like the tides. Like our Empire.

But perhaps, we were wrong. The time has come. The barbarians of Magnis have stormed our lands. The hordes of warriors from the Northern Reaches have nursed their wounds and taken our cities. And usurpers that clamour for a crown that sits atop a decaying column will erode Ethernal glory.

Fall of an empire RP! It's set in a fantasy world of roughly... medieval times? Where almost any species goes. Except sparkling vampires.

(By the way, 'Ethernal' is a word similar to 'American', 'British' or 'Canadian'. It represents nationality. 'Ether' refers to the capital of the empire.)

Factions: (Factions... may not be the best word to describe it. Since loyalists may kill each other to further their own position. Barbarians may have conflict with each other over dividing the border territories of Ether. Usurpers... will most likely be warring with each other if not with Ether.)

Men and women loyal to the crown of Ether, despite the weakness of the current Emperor. Emperor Honorius IV, a 6 year old who speaks little and is suspected, if not openly, by the Senate to be mentally unfit of the throne. However, thanks to the power of triumvirate (trio) Consul that controls the emperor, he remains on the throne.

Ethernal men (maybe women) that believe themselves to be more worthy controllers of Ether's legacy. They either seek to depose the emperor for themselves (or others they like more) or carve out their own kingdoms in the middle of Ether's decline.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Curae, the highest religious authority in the Ethernal Empire, managed to find independence from Ether during the crisis. The island city of Curae is highly fortified, making it hard for the barbarians or anyone else to attack them. The Curae's goals are unknown, but perhaps they wish to usurp the Emperor's authority. They control the 'Partisans of Curae', a highly disciplined, if tiny, army.

Either previously foreigners conquered by the Ethernal Empire, or those who were too far away for Ether to bother with them, these people have either attacked the Ethernal Empire to regain their independence or to steal some of the Ether's glory.

Those previously conquered by the empire would have lost a good amount of their culture, considering the imperialistic behaviour of Ether. They would usually be their original culture 'in name only'.

Anyone else who hasn't taken a side, or is too concerned for their own survival to take a side.

Expectations? Well, don't know really. Assume this is leading to the uprising of all the factions, while the empire is plummeting to oblivion? I'd like to see different approaches if they be the case.

I'm expecting to see a lot of lies and deceit going on between characters. It'll add suspense and will show a struggle for control over a dying capital that yearns for order and peace.
