"A good officer sees numbers, locations, formulae, priorities, costs, and solutions. A bad officer sees people, faces. War is dirty, violent, and unpleasant, but a good officer never, ever lets it become personal."
~ Red Alliance Officer Manual
Name: Erwin “the Renegade” Fromm
Age: 63
Faction: Red Alliance
Rank: Colonel
Description: Erwin stands at 6’4 ½ feet with a very athletic build making him a little more sleek than the regular Kustosian. He has a ruby red eye, a sharp nose and a five-o’clock shadow. He also has dark brown hair that like most of the MIs, is kept close cropped for practical reasons. While he bears numerous scars, the most noticeable one is a scar cluster going across his face. His right eye, right arm and left leg are prosthetics that not only enhances his combat abilities, but they also make him look much more intimidating. Like most field commanders, Erwin wears a black Commando-variant Personal Defence Gear that features an even more durable polymer over his regular fatigues. He wears a Testudo-III Combat Helmet that has fangs scratched over the visor. Other than that, he chooses to wear fingerless gloves and the standard issue combat boots. Erwin speaks in a gruff and slightly aggressive tone with a mild Erolainian accent. His voice is also a little distorted due to his prosthetic voice box. Erwin is rather skilled in personal combat, particularly with melee weapons.
Mentally, Erwin is a very ruthless but pragmatic man. While he is more than willing to sacrifice a battalion or two, he would not do so if there were other more profitable options to secure a victory. Despite this, Erwin is rather popular with those under his command as not only does he genuinely respect them, those under his command who follows his orders tend to have a better survival rate than most Red Alliance units. Due to his experience, Erwin is fanatically loyal and dedicated to the Red Alliance willing to do anything to bring glory to his mother earth. Erwin is a gifted tactician but a competent strategist. His genius does not lie in abilities in planing but rather his talent to adapt as the situation sees fit. Erwin is known as “the Renegade” due to his dangerous and reckless habit of going directly into the front lines to engage in combat; an art he is also known to be particularly skilled at. However despite this, Erwin is not a particularly proud person. Unlike other similar soldiers of his calibre, he is more than willing to retreat rather than go out in a blaze of glory.
History: Born to Herman Fromm and Eliza Gunther, Erwin was one of the many unfortunate souls to be born and raised in the war-torn Red Alliance world of Mark IV. The second child of the family, Erwin was soon orphaned at a young age during the initial stages of the infamous Siege of Vormund forcing him and his brother; Peter Fromm to fend for themselves. At the end of the long and blood siege however, Erwin was the only member of his family to survive the ordeal. This in turn fed his rage and cultivated his hate against the UNOE.
Reaching the minimum age of 16, Erwin soon left the orphanage and enlisted himself in the Red Alliance Armed Forces. Determined, he took the training to be a Stormtrooper; a class that had the highest mortality rate but it has however of no consequence, as he did not care. After two years, Erwin soon completed his training and is now a fully-fledged soldier. During his time in training, Erwin was taught to turn his hate and fanaticism into a weapon; and a powerful one it was indeed. Because of his highly favourable test scores, Erwin was assigned to the famous 567th Guards Division or better known as the “Spear of Pilla”.
During his the early years of service, Erwin distinguished himself from the rest of the Stormtroopers for not only being more fanatical but also a highly resourceful fighter in spite of his age. This in turn allows him to survive numerous battles relatively unharmed. So much so that his squad was instrumental in a few major battles that the 567th Guards Division partook such as the 2nd Siege of Krusva. While winning some badges, no major advancement had occurred within his military career until he reached the age of 28, where he was reassigned to the Taker Corp.
During his time in the Taker Corp, Erwin’s kill count spiked making him one of the most feared soldiers in the battlefield but not of those of a Checker. It was not only until after his 40th Birthday did he reach the zenith of his career; a promotion to the rank of colonel. However during the ceremony, a team of UNOE Dark Bringers ambushed him. While the assassins were successfully repelled, the ambush nearly mortally wounded Erwin to the point where he became a cripple. In order to continue his service, Erwin was fitted with state-of-the-art prosthetics that not only allows him to function properly but also to do so much more efficiently. Nonetheless, because of his injuries, Erwin no longer served in the Taker Corp as an operative.
Alas, the past is the past and that was 20 years ago. Now he is the commander of the 567th Guards Division due to his impressive skills and popularity with the men. Despite being a colonel, Erwin is particularly fond of combat to the point where he would engage enemies directly if possible, earning him the moniker “the Renegade” by his peers. Nonetheless, as this hobby of his does not impede nor effect his duties negatively, the Ministry of War and Peace is willing to turn a blind eye to this issue. Because of his skill and familiarity, Erwin is given the honour to defend his home city of Vormund against the final assault of the UNOE.
