Danny was silent for a few moments after Mr. Stroussen left and she stared at the door he left through, filled with a strange mix of feelings. The Demon Lord awakening and Danny rising up as a hero was a fantasy Danny had anticipated and feared for quite some time. More importantly it was a situation that Danny was sure would never happen. And it was a situation that could still not happen, since there was a chance that the Demon Lord was now lost forever, but somehow Danny didn't consider it possible. The Demon Lord disappearing forever seemed too anticlimactic to happen, and there was an an apprehension in her heart that she couldn't dismiss as fruitless. Her arms and knees shook, her throat felt dry and her head felt heavy.
No. Stop. Calm down. Danny clenched her fists and gulped. She had to appear confident, at least right now. Being confident was an important part of the barbarian persona, after all, even if only Ophelia was in the room at the time. "Alright, well," Danny spoke, trying to hide the anxiousness in her voice as she turned to Ophelia. "After school, meet me out front by the parking lot, and we can hash out some battle plans. I'm gonna go skip first period."
Danny left the office, wanting to find some place to think about things. As she walked over to the lunch tables she noticed a bunch of students filing into the gymnasium. "I hate pep rallies," She said to herself, and then walked away.
