Main Thread

Introduction

Few know the true nature of things: that there are literally infinite parallel realities, and just about anything that can be imagined exists out there somewhere.

However, this includes beings and organizations with the ability to cross between these realities. Some are benign, some stumble from world to world by accident, while others work towards an inter-reality empire, disrupting countless realities to further their own goals.

Fortunately for all of the worlds that can't hop between realities, there are agencies of good out there, organizations that seek to protect realities that can't handle other worlds wreaking havoc in their timelines. Most of the people in these agencies come from realities that suffered from outside tampering, and now seek to stop the same happening in new worlds. They are our heroes, our protagonists, as they fight to protect the Infinite Worlds!

Setting

The setting is hard to specify, since in many ways it's every setting. Whats important are the factions that are capable of crossworld travel.

The Infinite Patrol: Our heroes. They range from people from Utopian worlds that have discovered how to walk between the worlds to refugees from dead worlds who fight to stop the same fate from befalling others. The only thing tying them together is that they all seek to protect realities that haven't figured out trans-reality travel yet.

The Infinite Patrol is the faction that the players will be a part of. The team is pretty much the bottom of the barrel, the misfits and irregulars of the Patrol that they didn't want to burden another group with, but were still too valuable to simply dismiss.

The Fourth Reich: In several worlds, the Nazis won WWII. In some of those worlds, they developed realty-traveling technology. These worlds invariably met up, and generally joined forces. The Fourth Reich is the largest single trans-world organization besides the Infinite Patrol. Equipped with all sorts of weird schizotech from the various realities that they have roots in, they are an unpredictable force that has slowly been spreading across the worlds.

Privateers: Not an actual organization, but something that still needs to be dealt with. There are countless people who have discovered world-jumping tech and kept it to a small scale, using it to pilfer riches from other realities and escaping back home, leaving authorities baffled and having no criminal record. This includes stealing famous art pieces, theft of currency, pretty well anything they can haul around. This has huge potential to disrupt timelines, and as such it's up to the Infinite Patrol to stop privateers whenever they can. This category also contains all other small-scale disruptive world jumpers. Some mess with things for the humor of it, others set themselves up as rulers in other worlds.




As far as the actual setting, that can vary from outing to outing. Could be a direct parallel of Earth, could be some TV show, could be 16th century England with reptiles instead of humans, could even be one of the other Roleplays here on Gaia! (I would entirely be in favor of us descending on a walk-in RP, doing an adventure and then warping out, by the way :P). Point is, it could be anywhere.

Rules

Gonna keep the basic rules simple here:

1) Don't be a dick! Most RPs seem to use about a paragraph of rules to say this, but this is what it amounts to. Don't godmod, don't kill people without permission, timeskip, all that stuff. You should know all this by now.

2) Crossover stuff from ERRYWHUR! This means that if you want to bring in a character from a Steampunk version of Star Wars, go for it. Iron Man if he was a plague doctor? Do it up! That's not to say you aren't allowed exactly canon stuff, you can do that if you want, but this here is a chance to get real creative with stuff.
And when I say ERRYWHUR, I do in fact mean ERRYWHUR. Doesn't even have to be humanoid!

The only thing that I ask is that your character is at least BASED on a canon character from somewhere. It can be pretty far removed, but this isn't the place for pure OCs. I don't mind seeing a cyberpunk Harry Potter, but I don't want to see an OC from a cyberpunk version of Hogwarts.

2.5) Character power! I'm not going to put any hard limits on character power, but I'll say this: the more powerful you make your character, the harder you should go on them. If you want to make someone who drives a mech? That's fine. Just have him deal with stuff that he needs a mech to fight. You wanna make someone who ignores bullets and poops lightning? That's fine, make him need all that in order to survive. Perhaps he fights someone who spits acid at some point or something. The point is, feel free to make really strong characters, just pit them against stuff that is still a challenge for them.

3) Violence is yes, romance is there if you want it! I've never been one to push romance in RPs, but I'm not going to stand in the way of it if it happens. That's not the main focus here, but at the same time cross-world romance stuff could be pretty interesting. Expect violence though! If you fight some giant monster with meter long teeth, then it WILL at some point probably bite someone in half! There's no need to dwell on the gore or anything, but it likely will be there in the background.

4) I don't care about post layout! Or skeleton layout, for that matter! I'll be providing a sample skeleton, but it's gonna be pretty simple. If you want to doll it up and make it pretty, that's totally fine! As far as post layouts, I only ask that you slap in some sort of picture to identify it as you, and other than that I don't care. You wanna make it pretty? Go right ahead! However, personally I'm here to write and to RP, not to spend hours dicking around in image editors. I don't blame you at all if you feel the same.

5) Don't mutilate the English language! We all make spelling errors at times, and we all make grammar errors at times. I only ask that you try to avoid them as much as possible. Also, please type your stuff in third person, as though you were writing it for a book, and write in past tense. Here's an example, since it's easier:

-WRONG: Stop worrying so mu- *steps on pressure plate and is hit with darts*

-RIGHT: "Stop worrying so mu-" He was cut off by the click of a pressure plate, before a dozen darts flew from holes in the wall and lanced through his armor.

Also, swearing is fine.

6) Send profiles to me! ...Yeah, just toss 'em my way.

Character name: Rarity

Character background: The Equestria that this Rarity comes from is one where technology evolved as fast as magic did, resulting in a world oddly similar to that of Shadowrun. Diamond Dogs thrived in this less magic-centric world, and all but owned the criminal underworld.

This Rarity got her start making suits for crime bosses, but her talent with gems didn't go unnoticed. She was soon involved in arms manufacturing, cutting lenses for thaumatech beam rifles and such. She didn't do this work because she enjoyed it, but because it was some of the only work to be had.

As such, when the Infinity Patrol came through on a cross-world chase of a group of privateers, she was all too happy to tag along as a way out. She wound up with a way out of the underworld, and the Patrol wound up with an oddly hardboiled Unicorn who grew up in the criminal underworld.

Noteworthy abilities / items: She might not be too out of the ordinary as far as abilities go for an Equestrian unicorn, but inherent command of magic isn't something seen in a large number of races across the multiverse, and unicorns have the advantage of starting to use it from a very early age. As such, Rarity can simultaneously levitate many objects with an astounding degree of precision, make small objects invisible, and cast a wide array of various glamours and illusions. She has a rather unnerving level of dexterity with needles, and combined with a spool of thread she is capable of stitching the flesh of opponents together, among other things. Also in her toolkit are a variety of other things that are extra dangerous in her telekinetic grasp: two pairs of sharp scissors, designed to separate at the hinge point, causing them to split into four rather sharp blades being another of the more notable objects.

The only reason she doesn't own guns or grenades is because nobody with any sense allows her to keep such things- she has already been implicated in the collapse and partial demise of two previous squadrons, and while she may find (and improve) guns in the field, upon returning to base they are inevitably confiscated.

Character Name: Black Rock Shooter

Character Background: This incarnation of Black Rock Shooter is where she is the human self, while her "original" human self, Mato Kuroi, takes her place as the Other Self. Simply, Black Rock Shooter is not an Other Self, but fully human. All of the Other Selves, such as Dead Master and Strength, are also human, and experience a normal life. Currently 16 years old, Black Rock Shooter has been into a ton of athletic activity at high school, and that she has some conflicted friendships with Dead Master, Strength, and Chariot. She's lived a normal life, until she is ambushed one day on the way back home, but she managed to get out of the attacker's grasps and flee for a bit. She hid in an alleyway, but was cornered by the same attacker. Somehow by instinct, Black Rock Shooter managed to sweep the attacker off of his feet, and take his gun in order to shoot at the head. That was her turning point in life, making her think that she was no longer "innocent." In fears that she would be found out for this murder, Black Rock Shooter ran away from Tokyo, pondering on what her true meaning in life was now.

Noteworthy abilities/items: Even as a human, Black Rock Shooter displays some Olympic level stamina, strength, and speed, which is from her consistent devotion to her athletic classes in high school. However, during that emotional breakdown after shooting down the person who ambushed her, there was a point that her linkage to her Other Self, Mato, was unintentionally realized, giving Black Rock Shooter an ability that she can see things that a normal "eye" wouldn't see. Her main weapon is the same gun that she took from her attacker, otherwise, she also uses a pocket knife for good measure.

Character name: Lukas Bastonne

Character background: Growing up on the planet Voltage no easy task for a human, with massive electric storms that cover the planet and the toxic atmosphere make it hard for life to live on the surface forcing the humans to live underground in massive factory hive cites. It was here that Lukas Bastonne was born to a family living in the under hive, at a young age he was recruited in to a gang.

Years later he was drafted into a newly raised regiment the 55th and sent directly into a warzone to stop an ork WAAAGH! He quickly distinguish him self for his bravery and tactical ability, and rose thought the ranks to become a Lieutenant. Lukas go involved with the Infinity Patrol when his unit was wiped out chaos daemons with the squad intervening saving is life. After where he tag along with them and impressed them with his skills and was recruited into the patrol.

Noteworthy abilities / items: Both bless and curse with perfected memory allowing him to call up past experience, but he remembers the names, faces, and horrors of all of thoughts who died under his command. Though he gives no outward signs of pain or suffering, it is whispered that Bastonne has every one of these names tattooed on his body beneath his uniform. He is very skilled with all weapons that the imperial guard has, from the humble lasgun to plasma weaponry he can welled deadly efficiency. He has received advance CQC training to supplement his skilled.

Character name: Treize Khushrenada

Character background: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Treize_Khushrenada - After Wufei Chang defeated him on the battlefield Treize by a fluke managed to survive the battle as his Tallgeese ll's engines were not hit. Treize after making up with Wufei joined the Earth Sphere Unified Nations together and proceeded to retain his chainman role as a friend of vice foriegn minister Relena Dolton (Peacecraft). During the events of Endless Waltz he personally stopped Dekim's assault on Earth along with the assistance of the gundam pilots and Zechs Merquise who returned in a patched up gundam Epyon. He has resigned from his career and has been made the head of the Preventers and the Mars Restoration Project.

Noteworthy abilities / items: master politician and manipulator, expert strategist and tactician on and off the battlefield, a crack shot, a superb, Western-style fencer, and a mobile suit designer of great ability, an excellent mobile suit pilot. Currently owns a mobile suit.

Character name: Max Hazard, Ghost SCIENCE!!! Rider

Character background: Max was born in world in the grip of a technological golden age, where mysticism and theology had fallen by the wayside. A gifted scientist and inverter in the field of SCIENCE!!! Max soon became tired with conventional inventions and turned his focus past hypothetical science. Investigations of space within and without, harnessing the antithesis forces and other such wonders. But his pet project was opening gates into hypothetical dimensions.
To this day he's not sure if the what he punched into was always there or if it was something shaped from his wanderings through nothingness
when he was spit back out into the smoldering half melted wreck that was his lab, he had a passenger.
A passenger that hungered for VENGEANCE!!!...which Max wanted nothing to do with in the slightest.

He spent the next few months building a device to block out the angry demon that had taken up roost in his noggin, perfecting his method of post-hypothetical travel, and trying to come up with a somewhat reasonable excuse about why he was now a skeleton...and on fire...all the time.
succeeding at two of these things he packed his bags full of SCIENCE!!! and motored off into the Multiverse. Out to fix paradoxes, patch tears and willfully ignore all of the increasingly inexplicable things happening around him.

He stumbled across an infinity patrol on one of their routine recovery missions ...it went...poorly.
Much later, while patting out the quantum flames clinging to his jacket he decided that these people could definitely use some help.

Noteworthy abilities / items: SCIENCE!!! Rider is armed with an assortment of gadgets and gizmos of his own creation, such as the Gravity Cannon, the Singularity Satchel and the Antithesis Engine.
A talented inventor, Maximilian can usually be counted on to cobble together a solution to most things with nothing but spare parts and technobabble-
...also he has a flaming mono-cycle that hops dimensions.

However, his upbringing and training have led him to believe in a scientific and rational explanation to everything, no matter what. This means that he staunchly refuses to acknowledge the mystical forces that power him or use them in his missions, which can be a problem when you’ve been possessed by a ancient force of vengeance.

Character Name: Jack Frost/Black

Character Background:
Jack Frost hails from a world in which the Guardians fail to stop Pitch from taking over the world and spreading darkness around the globe and a world in which all of these entities are visible to humans, no matter belief. This loss comes as a result of while in a battle with Pitch, the Nightmare King decided to get rid of the Sandman by firing an arrow made of dark sand at him. Jack flew to the rescue of his friend and shielded him but ended up taking the dark arrow himself. Instead of disappearing, evaporating or dying, the blackness began to spread around his body, turning his hair black, his hair purple and changing his clothes to turn darker.

The result from being shot with the arrow was the nightmare sand Pitch created flowing into Jack and fusing with him, turning him into an entity of darkness just like Pitch. It was the living form of everything Jack hated about the world and, thanks to the fact Jack had defected to Pitch's side, the Guardians were not able to win the fight. This caused them all to slowly vanish and Pitch to become the leading force in the world with Jack Black at his side. The world reverted to the Dark Ages and, at the same time, an Ice Age came about that nearly wiped out a third of the human population. Jack and Pitch became the rulers of the world, working together to ensure everything was dark and cold.

However, the original part of Jack Frost never died and gradually resurfaced, causing much emotional turmoil. Jack Black and Jack Frost were basically the exact opposites but shared the same body and memories. Jack Frost could remember everything he had done as Jack Black and the memories burned into his mind. When he was in control, he was an emotional wreck. When Black was in control, he was evil.

Noteworthy Abilities / Items:
Magic Staff This strange stick channels most of Jack's power over frost. In this reality, he cannot control Frost without it and both forms of him (Frost and Black) require the staff to utilize control over frost. In time, he could learn to control frost without his staff but for now, he requires this medium to use this power.

Nightmares and Darkness His fusion with the nightmare sand that created Jack Black resulted in the birth of a power that can only be utilized properly by his darker half: he ability to travel through and become darkness. Just like Pitch, Jack Black can blend into shadows and use them for travel, however this is the limit over his power over darkness. He can also inflict nightmares on other people but this ability is strictly for Jack Black only.

Frost/Wind This power that can be used by both halves of Jack but can only be brought out by the magical staff. Along with this power comes the ability to fly and ride on the winds but his main power is to bring about snow and conjure up snowballs to start snowball fights. Or, in the case of Jack Black, bring about eternal winter.

Character background:

Dan Hibiki is probably the worst fighter anyone could ever meet... well, compared to anyone OTHER person who can shoot fireballs. This fighter is a teacher of his 'world famous' fighting style Saikyo. His story had began a LONG time ago, when a man named Sagat had killed his father. Dan had vowed revenge, and in the end succeeded against in avenging his father in a fight with Sagat... the man had simply let him win. Afterwards, in confidence, Dan opened up his own Dojo, where he still continues to teach his two only students the ways of Saikyo. He hopes to spread his fighting style among the entire world!

Noteworthy abilities / items: He can fire out a "Gahdoken", which is a small green fireball that only travels about a foot before flickering out. Dan is a master of rolling around in a ball, as well as taunting, and being DECENT at fighting... not good enough for anyone else he's with though.[/CENTER]

Character background:
In the world where this Mario comes from there are the Mushroom Kingdoom ruled by Princess Peach and the Koopa Kingdom ruled by Bowser. These two kingdoms were peaceful and had little conflict with each other. As a result, Mario didn't have to rescue Princess Peach and defeat Bowser. Instead he became a mercenary. He roamed around the two kingdoms doing jobs for anyone with money until he found the Infinity Patrol.

Noteworthy abilities / items:
Mario can shoot fireballs from his hands. Being a mercenary he has experience with guns. However, he is best at hand-to-hand combat. He has a knife made from a koopa shell. It is enchanted to be very strong.
