Lightbulb Aranath, ranger of the North.

    Greetings Guildians!

It's been a while since I've been on here, and I'd like to give a shout out to several of my past Role Playing partners - 99% of you were fantastic, and sad the stories had to come to an end - there were so many fantastic people to work with that I couldn't even work with them all!

That being said, I have a new idea for an RP this time.

I have a character that I've developed for quite some time, across many platforms, and I miss him, and would like to pull him out again - for some this can be intimidating, so I want to throw it out there.

    Now the nitty gritty!

I am looking for a fantasy setting, quasi medieval Role Play that has aspects of romance, difficult decision making and overcoming difficult past experiences. The character is a late thirties military legend gone into early retirement. Growing up in a coastal village, he quickly fell in love with a maiden by the name of Sari, but was crushed when she mysteriously vanished. A drive to find her at a young age gave him the energy to excel in training, which he sought in the local garrison. Having completed his training far advanced than his peers, he searched for her, but could never find her. This lead to an angry disconnect, that propelled him into a reputation of both brutal and exceptional military service to the King, an aging much loved Monarch. By the time the King had died, much of the conflict with the tribes to the south had be squelched, and he was ordered to garrison the abandoned city of Myrnoth to the north, and rebuild it. He spent the next ten years following his orders and much prosperity came to the region; Myrnoth becoming a bastion of light and a figurehead of the Kingdom. It was during this time that old memories faded, and a new maiden struck upon his heart in such a way that the pain of losing his youthful love diminished. He wed the lady Constance, only shortly after to receive word that a raiding party, returning from across the sea to the east, had returned with a number of prisoners native to his land, among them was Sari. Sari was quickly wed higher by her parents in a desire to move up the social ladder. It was shortly after, that Constance died rather suddenly of mysterious causes. Scandal ran the Kingdom far and wide, and the new King, not as enraptured at the loyal service of Master Aranath, as many young rulers aren't, decommissioned him, if you will, effectively removing him from command. Having lost his world, his reputation, and not one, but two loves, he retired a few miles into the forest from his beloved Myrnoth, a sort of self exile, and there he lives off the land, his great sorrow of heart leaving him feeling abandoned, and convinced that it is better for a man to be alone.

In comes you! (If you've made it this far!)

I am looking for a female to play the part of salvation if you will. A chance encounter, a non-typical character, someone who would clash with him on every level, with a myriad of problems of her own, to come into his life and slowly "recover" him. This is not some abandon-able story, albeit in "casual" play, I am seriously interested in slowly advancing both character roles into whatever they may become. Friends, lovers, partners - perhaps even not reconcilable. The point is that the story doesn't necessarily have to have a predetermined happy ending, or predetermined at all, the journey of expression among the two characters would be the primary focus.

I have made this long for several reasons, one for scaring off anyone who might be only quasi committed, and two, screening out people who may not really be interested in the story. If you've made it this far without skipping - that may be you! If it is, I would be overjoyed to speak with you about the prospects, and see if we could work together - the worst case scenario being we are not right for each other.

What you can expect from me: 1-2 posts a day of well thought out articulate expressions of not only actions, but particularly inner thoughts and struggles that my character will wrestle with. I tend to write (as you can see!) longer posts, so you can also expect that from me. I live in the US and work nights, so the majority of my posts you will find upon waking in the morning, if you are in a similar time zone.

I look forward to hearing from each and everyone of you!

I have been searching for something to join for days now!

I am interested in this idea! I don't have a character, yet, for this...I just wanted to let you know that I am truly interested. I will post back with a picture and information to run it by you here in a little bit.

If, however, your feelings have changed,
I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me,

First off, I'd just like to say that I haven't RPed in a couple years and just recently came back to the Guild as well. So this might be a little rusty!
The character I have come up with is Mara, age late twenties. Born in Coren, a large, sea-side village across the ocean from the Kingdom, Mara's mother died giving birth. Her father raised her until she was a young woman as best as he could, but he eventually disappeared from her life and left her to fend for herself. The man appointed power of the village was kind enough to take her under their roof, as long as she took an oath to marry their only son, Sebastian, in order for him to continue to rule after his father's death. Mara, of course, agreed to the marriage not knowing who their son would soon grow up to be. To her, he was the bringer of death. Every move of hers was controlled and every word was rehearsed. Her marriage to the public was a fake and behind closed doors, he was the demon that the outsiders never saw; the torture that he put her through. She used to blame it on her self, after all...if she didn't talk back and obeyed him, if she didn't challenge him, then he wouldn't hurt her. Death would be such a sweet release and although it felt as though he might end her life with his rage and violence towards her, that sweet release and the love that she so longed for never came. Sebastian had planned to sail along the ocean to another village to try and merge the two, and insisted that Mara came along. She didn't understand why at first, but she soon realized that it was to kill her. Things didn't go as well as Sebastian had planned for something went wrong. The ship came ablaze in the midst of his murderous and psychotic behavior. Her husband perished in the flames, but Mara ended up in the water among the debris. Clinging onto anything that could float and fighting to not drown for Mara wasn't able to swim, it felt like hours before another ship rescued her and a few other sailors that had gotten out before the ship sank. Once they reached shore, she disappeared and blended into the Kingdom to try to start her life over. But the memories of her dead husband still plagued her. The fear of the water. The physical scars from her old life. How did one move on? Only her journey can tell.

Let me know what you think!

First of all, I'd like to say who ever did that artwork on deviant art is very skilled!

Second, for some strange reason, I didn't get an email notification that I had a reply, so apologies for the late response. Now that I know someone is interested... Muhahaha!

I think that character would do nicely. I like to not control my partners expression too much, so whatever background my partner is thinking is good with me. That being said - we would just have to iron out how the two meet.

I'm thinking something that leaves one of them at the will of the other. For example, caught in a trap, escaping from stealing something, something that gives one character the upper hand if you will. Since it would be my characters home, I think it would be good for your character to be the one at the disadvantage. Let me know your thoughts.

I also took a day or two to respond, so if you've found something else I understand. Ill be monitoring more closely this time.

    Let me know!

Edit - sent from an iPhone, so please excuse typos/spelling. My actual posts will be edited more thoroughly, and will have stricter guidelines to follow.

No, I haven't found anything else. Not much has caught my eye in the past week since I have been back, so I have been dying to find something when your thread caught my eye!

I had the exact same idea about your character having the upper-hand. And, I think we could combine both of those ideas. Say, just off the top of my head, Mara took something valuable from a store owner and in order to fully disappear from him chasing her, she ducks into the forest only to find herself caught in a hunters trap. Dangling over the forest floor in rope, caught in a metal mouth, fallen into a pit...either work for me. That can be decided when we actually decide to post. Either way, I'd still love to play!

    --Updated--

Also, I'd like to mention that I work 2nd shift in the central time zone. So my posts will generally be morning or late night.
