You wake up. Something seems a little off about yourself. You don't feel sick, you feel different.

It can't be puberty. Puberty was a long time ago. You're still in school, though.

You look at your hand. Then at your body. Then at a part of it that wasn't there before.

Tails? Wings? Horns? Or perhaps your skin has suddenly changed colour. Or texture. Or perhaps something even more strange. Whatever just grew that wasn't there yesterday is fully-formed, and works perfectly. You could test it, if you weren't suddenly shocked by it.

You scream, obviously. Or usually. Someone comes in, concerned. Perhaps you try to hide the new growth. Or yourself underneath the blankets. They find you anyway, and they don't notice anything. They don't see anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps they admonish you for being so uptight about the day.

Perhaps it's a bad dream. You test it out. It feels too real. You even pinch too. This can't be fake.

You brush your teeth in the mirror. If they still exist. The mirror shows your original reflection for a bit, and then your current body. It seems to... change depending on how you want to look at it.

You take your breakfast, with your family. They don't notice anything off. You try to use one of your new growths against an object. It's there, solid, but no one notices that you've just knocked over a vase with your wings, your tail or something else? They just see a vase falling off by itself.

Creeped out, you took your belongings and went to school. If they don't notice, how long do you need to live like this? Is there anyone else like it?

You see another student to your school. They look... almost the same. They notice you too, and seem both a little surprised and relieved.

This is your life. As a monster unseen to the rest of humanity.

You take another step to school, with your new friend beside you. You theorise, argue and make small-talk.

Why is this?

Located in quiet town of Springworth, you study at the 2nd Springworth Academy. A normal high school without that much to note. Until you find yourself in a form not entirely human, and no one else notices. None, except those around you who look almost as inhuman.

And just this human person, who seems to know more than you'd expect her to.

Powers: She can see supernaturals for what they are, and is not influenced by any mind-affecting effects caused by supernaturals.

Discovered: In some situations, she is able to hyperfocus and see the strengths, weaknesses and abilities of people around her.

Skills: Ashton is a crack shot with firearms, and knows enough firearm-purchase loopholes to arm an insurgency. She is also skilled in the technical aspect of quite a lot of electronics. She seems to always have money, though whether the money is considered 'clean' or not is generally a question better left unasked.

Her athletics are okay. Enough to handle firearms.

Ashton has some basic medical training, and knows how to administer injections and anti-venoms.

Reputation: Ashton was known as the most successful 12th grade student in 2nd Springworth Academy, until she fell comatose for 8 months when she was 16. Ever since then, she has only met the minimum requirements to stay in 2nd Springworth Academy, but never enough to graduate. She is often known for hanging around in front of the school gate from when it opened until school started, often ending up as the latest student to enter the school. She has a strangely sunny personality that is enough not to be considered weird, but no one knows of anyone she's really close to. She often hangs out with a student by the name of Bryan Winters, though.

Online, she deals in real-money for game accounts sales, under the name of SteeledFate. She also... does other things.

Misc: Ashton's favourite gun is a Glock pistol, though she has other heavier pistols for when that gun doesn't work. She also owns a lot of electronics, though the most important things are police scanners and computers dedicated towards... less than savoury lines of work.

She has an Android smartphone that can create a secure connection to her scanners or her computers.

Notes:

It's a school mystery RP about the supernatural! Sort of. Some things will be revealed eventually, but here are some details I'll talk about right now.

1. Yes, there will be combat.
2. If there are any other students with supernatural powers, they will not be background characters.
3. Some 'ordinary' humans can see supernaturals. But they won't be background characters either. I'll be RPing the only one so far. (If you do wish to RP one, actually, we'll need to collaborate on history.)
4. Your character's real parents are supernaturals as well. They switched you with a real human child when you were born. Circumstances of the switch are not good intentions.
5. Generally, your 'true form' should look significantly inhuman enough to draw attention and is difficult to hide.
6. It's not just about a grand plot. There should be character interaction.

Supernatural Appearance: Face looks like this mask and tips of fingers have retractable claws instead of fingernails.

Normal Appearance: HERE

Powers: Heightened sense of smell, hearing, and sight and can see in the dark. The retractable claws make for decent weapons as well as useful equipment for climbing.

Skills: Excellent sense of direction almost never gets lost and instinctually knows how to get to wherever he needs to get to. Tends to find missing things, but has trouble with returning them to their appropriate owner because he can't find them.

Reputation: Always popular with the ladies, he never really had any interest in dating. His goal in life was to find the easiest way to live comfortably and do so. Of course his transformation resulted in making such a mission a little awkward in achieving, but even so, he continued onward to try the easy life. During breaks he's often found outside enjoying music from his mp3 player and lazing in the sun or shade depending on how he feels. A few times he was caught on the roof, but every time got away with a warning, because he always does favors for the teachers after class anyways. He figures that doing work for them would make his school life easier than if he didn't. When he's not listening to music or aiding teachers, he is often found teasing the girls chasing after him or chatting with his fellow students. He is an only child and rarely spends time at home although his family situation is pretty well off.

Misc: Axle always has his mp3 player and a high quality headset. He has a pendant around his neck with a golden compass on it, (the compass is only decorative not actually functional) the compass has been an heirloom passed down his family for generations.

Tempted to strangle drewccap for his appearance choice, that guy is sooo overused xD


Additionally I question whether it's a good idea to close applications.
There's a high chance not everyone from the Intchk will carry over, and I know a fair few people who only check the OoC threads.
If they view this thread once, see it's closed, they're not likely to come back and view the thread again, and by the time we're certain people aren't going to transfer from the Intchk, people might have stopped checking this thread completely.

I can understand the importance of keeping player numbers controlled, but starting with a closed OoC sounds like a bad idea.

Powers: basic pyrokinesis, increased strength, poisonous bite (paralyzing, think manticore)

Skills: A fascination with computers has lead Saida to take up several after school classes, making her proficient in several programming languages and earning her several certifications marking her as a full fledged system technician.
Her fascination with computers have also made Saida an avid gamer and a somewhat renown modder under the name "Spee". After a bad experience in her younger years she has taken up Hapkido to learn how to defend herself. In only a few years she rose to the red Kub, second rank. Other then that she's an excellent cook and enjoys making exotic meals.

Reputation: Saida had moved into town 2 years ago but she's still considered the "new kid". She is quiet, keeping to herself, neither slacking or excelling anywhere in school, her busy lifestyle and long nights at the computer leave her exhausted, so it's not unusual to see her napping during the more quiet classes. She's a very chill person, not overly flirty, bubbly or dark and depressing like a lot of girls her age tend to be. Making some people see her as a bit of a tomboy.
Her parents are supportive of her but are afraid her interest will make her something of a shut-in, which creates the bizarre situation that her parents will frequently slip her some money if she uses it to go out.


Misc: She always has her smartphone on her, outiffted with a custom OS she develloped herself. She also tends to carry a simple netbook with her, sufficient enough for her work on the go and to synch up later with her much more impressive rig at home. Saida is gay but because of the previously mentioned bad experience she keeps it to herself.

Done and done. Also I guess I might have overdone it a bit, my point was just that she's supposed to be a computer whiz but in the sense of actual programming knowledge. Not a Hollywood hacker who smashes the keyboard and cracks the CIA database. =p
