Rhine Valley, Lesser Germania
Legionnaire Densus has been stationed Bipontium for the past 8 years, but he could never get passed the cold winter nights. His shift on the wall was usually at midnight, so he would know better than anyone in the fort. The only thing worse than the cold is the incredible boredom. Germania was full of crazed barbarians, dark magic and evil beasts from Pluto's domain itself. And yet he had never seen one thing out of the ordinary or even anything of note in 8 years of being a glorified vigil. This night, more than most other nights was boring and cold. The snows had begun to fall, so Densus field of view went from poor to non existent.
Densus started to drift off at his post when he heard the moaning. Immediately his soldier training kicked in and he started to scan the road outside the fort. At first, he could see nothing but snow. Then he spotted a shape from up the road. It was a man, or something close to it. Densus called out to him. "In the name of the Emperor! Stand to and state your intentions!" The only response was a mournful moan. As he got closer, Densus could see that he was bleeding and shambling like as though injured. His stare was blank and vapid. Densus almost didn't notice the others behind him. First a few, then a dozen, then hundreds all started to emerge from the German forest. Within the hour, the Fort was overwhelmed and Densus was dead. Many hundreds more continued past, into Roman territory.
The living dead have arrived in Rome. Can a small group of survivors make it out of the empire alive?
This is going to be a 5 person RPG. I'm keeping the character creation pretty lax. All they have to do is fit the period and have a reason for being in Rome.
Name: (I'd appreciate everyone using a character with a proper name.)
Social Status: (Whether your character is a Noble, commoner, slave or whatever)
History: (Whatever backstory you want)
You can add to this as long as you clear it with me first.
Here's an NPC
Name: Quintus Lutatius Catulus
Social Status: Patrician
Occupation: Military Tribune
Weapon: Gladius, Roman officer breastplate
History: A young nobleman whose military career is put on hold by the arrival of the living dead.
Have fun, I'll start when I get at least 2 more. Anyone else can join after we start.
