    World Through New Eyes (OOC)

    Oh cheesy title!

    So we're doing:

XV. What if Asami and Korra were good friends growing up? What if Korra's parents died and she had to live with Asami in Republic City? What if she trained with Tenzin at an earlier age? What if she mastered the elements (or at least 3) and decided to travel the world and help people? What if upon her return, Amon was busy terrorizing the city and causing the rebellion? What if she teamed up with Asami and Iroh to defend it? What if along the way, she met two enemies undercover, Mako and Bolin? (Implied possible romance: Asami/Korra, Iroh/Asami, Iroh/Korra, Bolin/Korra, Bolin/Asami, Mako/Korra, Mako/Asami or Tenzin/Asami or Lin/Asami or Lin/Korra or Lin/Bolin or Amon/Lin or Tenzin/Lin)

    So things to settle:

    > Who plays Asami, who plays Korra?

    > What elements 1-3 should Korra have gotten a good handle on?

    > Do you want to develop Korra and Asami's history at all or just start when she comes back to Republic City?

    > Is Iroh going to be a main character?

    > Who else would you like to play, any pairs you're looking at more closely than others?

    > Since Mako and Bolin are supposedly undercover agents working with Amon, should they be tied to Asami's father?

    > What do you want to happen with Amon after (or whenever) he is defeated? What direction would you like to take? A long winded journey to defeat like like in ALTA or something quicker with more grit coming after that?

As a suggestion, I'd be happy playing Mako and perhaps Korra, maybe Iroh or Tenzin but again, it depends who is involved. I also forgot to mention we could bring Lin in as well. So I added her to the blub up above.

I could play Asami and Bolin if you'd like to take Mako and Korra. I am definitely most comfortable with Bolin out of the two brothers and I have a feeling that I have a better handle on Asami's characterization than Korra's. It's really up to you which elements Korra masters if you are playing her, but it might be easy just to keep it somewhat canon and have her not know air bending. On that hand, having her learn fire bending from Iroh or earth bending from Lin might also be more fun for you.

There could be flashbacks and mentions to Asami and Korra's history, but maybe it is best to start with Korra coming back into town.

If you decide to have Korra learn fire bending, Iroh should definitely be a main character. Otherwise, he can make himself a major character towards the middle of the RP. Mako and Bolin should be working with Hiroshi Sato (or even supervising him, which would definitely irk Hiroshi). There's some great potential in that situation. I'll think more about post-Amon a bit later.

As for characters I'd like to play and pairings, I like the idea of Asami/Korra but I think that could be more of an endgame or midgame type goal. Korra falling for her teacher and Asami becoming involved with one of the brothers would allow for a lot of good subplots to keep the characters on the right track. I would be fine playing Asami, Bolin, Lin, and probably Iroh and/or Hiroshi.

I'm fine with shouldering: Korra, Mako, Tenzin and I don't mind sharing Iroh, depending if he's in an endgame pair.

I do think having a Korra/Asami dabble would be fine during the roleplay itself, everyone experiments right? I do foresee the endgame pairs best being Mako/Asami and Bolin/Korra though. I am also open for anything else, or if you'd like to bring in Tahno or anyone else, though to be honest, I was never much of a fan of him in the series and don't know how much work I'd want to do to make him better developed.

It's most likely that Korra knows air and water already, considering she's a water bender first and foremost and if she already learned from Tenzin at a young age, she's at least "so-so" for an air bender. I think her knowing some fire would be okay but not a lot of it. I would the only "mastery" she might have would be water, as she still needs to hone air and fire and hasn't yet begun with earth, Bolin and Lin could help there I think. Iroh and Mako could always lend a hand with her getting a better grasp of fire bending too. I just don't know if I want Iroh or Lin or Tenzin around too much at the start since we'll be balancing undercover benders in a revolution experience, as well as Korra and Asami trying to do something about it. Considering Asami is a non bender, what sort of skill set do you plan on attaching to her to make her useful?

I think with Asami, she could be useful in handling machinery and perhaps a weapon (she does show some hand-to-hand skills and good driving ability so it's not inconceivable that Hiroshi taught her armed self-defense), but she would also be a bridge to the non-bending world for whenever Amon is lashing out against benders, she can slip by and mingle in those crowds to gather intelligence. Basically, Asami would take on the skillset of a mechanic/saboteur. That's really the extent of help any non-bender can offer besides friendly emotional support.

Alright, probably best she did ditch the little device that Equalists used (I was waiting for that to run out of power, unless it was solar). She and Korra probably trained together a few times as well but still, making Asami good in hand to hand seems the most likely.

I thought that Equalist glove was just to level the playing field because, realistically, not every non-bender can be a chi-blocker or good with machinery so what else could the writers use to make the remainder of them more threatening? I would gladly forget all about the device for the purposes of this RP.

I just thought it was a cop out for her character to still use it, I'd think she'd be a bit more capable than using something that is technically a device to stop anyone who opposed Equalists.
