Time Lord
The Doctor and His Companion
The (10th) Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS and breathed in the fresh air. So much better than breathing in clone feed. He looked around. 21st century, as per usual. The people of this time were very... adventurous. He might not have used those exact words but he would call that the short version. London, England, UK, Europe, Earth, Milky Way. 3:37 PM, Tuesday, June 4th, 2009. The Doctor looked around. Not a shabby neighborhood, but not "Expensive Estates," either. Just your average everyday residence area. The left side looked promising, but the right side looked fun. Promising vs. Fun... The Doctor went with the latter.
He came across some people tearing down an old building complex. Not a very large building, but large enough to draw attention to itself when being torn down, although in all sense most buildings would. The Doctor approached a worker who was currently standing back.
"Excuse me, would you mind telling me what's going on here?" The worker turned to him.
"We've got a foreclosed building being torn down for a bunch of concrete."
"Like a parking lot?"
"Basically, but nobody has been called to paint or anything." The man went back to work and the Doctor stood back and watched.

All day long it was the same routine. Get up, go to work, come home water the plants and argue with the landlord about the months rent. Well the arguing part didn't happen everyday but it was close enough. Despite this Jack couldn't help but be relieved whenever she got the chance to get out of work early. It was like having a half day in high school only you didn't have to stand around waiting for the bus to take you home. And in high school you couldn't get away with nearly as much as you could when you were an adult. Like roller blade through the busy London sidewalks. Well you still couldn't but then where was the fun in sticking with things that you were allowed to do?
"Excuse me coming through! Don't let me run you over!" Jack called as she glided through the crowd. More than one angry pedestrian yelled at her, telling her to take her wheels to the road. Ignoring them all she turned down a less busy sidewalk and picked up speed.
It was a hot June day and the sun beat down without mercy. And somehow people still managed to walk around through the city as if it weren't nearing a hundred degrees. But what particularly made Jack wonder was the man standing by a construction site wearing a blue striped suit and a tan over coat.
'How is he not baking?' she wondered as she dropped off the sidewalk and onto the street. Slowing down she bumped against the curb and stepped up behind him.
"I can't help but wonder how you're not baking like a potato in that." Jack commented gesturing to the man's suit and coat.

"Oh this?" The Doctor smiled. "I've gotten used to it. Haven't noticed how hot it was. Not as hot as a burning..." He trailed off, looking troubled. Gallifrey had burned. He shook his head. "I'm sorry, what did up say your name was?"

Jack hesitated, wondering what was on the man's mind all of the sudden but decided against pressing the subject.
"Fair enough." she said instead. With a flourish and a bow she added, "I am Jack Christoff. Overseer of this shabby little street and caretaker of cats and kittens alike. And whom do I have the honor of meeting today?"
She straightened up with an amused grin and a twinkle in her eyes. It was obvious she was embellishing a bit with her title.

The Doctor smiled. This person was very interesting and wasn't the kind to be easily swayed. The Doctor bowed back to her.
"I'm the Doctor, Jack Christoff. It's very pleasurable to make your acquaintance." He straightened back up. "You must know who is paying for all this construction?" He seemed to be very interested in all this construction. The Doctor DID have a hunch, but he needed to know more to see if he was right.

"Hm, Corrin Venstril I believe. He funds quite a few projects around this district, mostly projects that better the community like this one. He's all for change and moving forward." Jack paused thoughtfully for a moment. "He's also announced that he plans to move this entire city forward. One district at a time so when he's done with this one he's moving on to clean up the Southwark-Lewisham district. Once he's finished with the residential areas then he plans to start in on the commercial districts. Corrin's not really that bad of a guy if you think about it. London could use some tidying up under the rug." she made a sweeping motion with her foot, the momentum pushed her forward a few inches and then back as she swung her foot back to where it was. "Although it's odd. He randomly came into town about half a year ago but from his very first speech everyone was just swept away by his words."

The Doctor knew it! He mustn't get too excited, though, he needed to be sure before he acted upon his hunch. Corrin Venstril, a very interesting name. An no doubt a very interesting person. He had to meet him. "So, where does this Corrin Venstril work? I'd certainly like to meet him. Sounds very interesting." Calm down, Doctor. This might be dangerous.

Jack raised an eyebrow in amused curiosity.
"Well he works here and there but he has taken up residency in a townhouse about fifteen blocks away." Jack pointed in the general direction of Corrin's home and added with an apologetic shrug. "I don't know his exact address but I can still show you were he lives."

"Alright then! Show me!" As they took off, Jack wouldn't be able to help but notice the Doctor was getting rather excited. He was walking pretty quickly. When they reached Corrin Venstril place of residence, the Doctor went up and knocked on the door. A man opened it up. "Good afternoon, are you Corrin Venstril?" The man looked the Doctor up and down. "It depends on who's asking." The Doctor brought up an ID and showed it to the man like identification. "I'm with the bank, inquiring about... bank-ey stuff." The man glanced at the ID and opened the door further. "C'mon in." The Doctor went in, looking back at Jack. "You coming?" She could now either look around the house or come inside with the Doctor.

(sorry it took me so long, I have a few too many art classes lol)
Jack watched the Doctor out of the corner of her eye with growing amusement as his own excitement grew and became more obvious.
'I wonder if he's a secret fan...' her lips twitched up into a small smile at the thought. As they reached Corrin's house she carefully composed her face to hide her amusement. It was a bit of a struggle to not laugh as the Doctor explained why he was here.
Taking the opportunity of a distraction Jack peeked to either side of Corrin and looked around his home. In terms of a rich man the decorations were simple but in the terms of a town house home, they were more to the tastes of a rich man. By all means it was nice without being too much.
"Hm? Oh, uh, yeah!" Jack hastily took off her roller blades and replaced them with flip-flops before stepping in after the Doctor. "I'm his assistant." she added to Corrin before he could ask who she was.
