The Second Wind of Heroes (OOC)

    IC: http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...of-Heroes-(IC)

    Closed

    It... is over.

We had won. But lost so much.

Hundreds, perhaps thousands, had died. All to set this wrong right.

After the death of Queen Catherine, the short-lived queen of Kingdom of Empora, a strange man by the name of Kaganax Deconia seized the throne in Beval. Unknown before then, but powerful and charismatic beyond the imagining of anyone, he proclaimed a new time of unity of Empora.

That pretty much meant war. As long as the cities around Empora paid tribute and accepted the authority of the Emporean Crown, all was usually fine. Not in the time of Kaganax. Armies were sent to pacify and control the cities. Most were successful.

Except in Lorezen. The closest city to Beval, it was extremely unlikely that a small trading city almost within coughing distance of Beval would hold its ground against Kaganax's show of force.

That was what the militia of Lorezen thought. However, a young man, with shining blue hair and innocent yet resolute blue eyes would argue otherwise.

"We fight for right. Might cannot make right when it is steeped in wrong!"

Gladius was his name. The last stand by the militia of Lorezen, under his command, turned into their own victory. He was the first to stand against Kaganax and win. The Rebellion was born that day. Even though they could not hold onto the strategically indefensible city of Lorezen, the belief that right could triumph over might kept the Rebellion alive throughout the best and the worst.

As many successes and failures chronicle Gladius's struggle against the tyrant-king Kaganax, the Rebellion would soon find many great names drawn to their side. Heroes, like Viscountess Ash Malrena, Nagimatsu Mitsuba, Isabela Sandiego, the late Ramza Pavel, Damocles Eleison and even Princess Lucrecia herself would fight against Kaganax. It was a time for them. A Time of Heroes.

But now, it is over. Gladius is dead. So is Kaganax.

In a final assault on Beval after the conquest of Lorezen by the Rebellion, a mysterious warrior by the name of Descarville Van Grant stood before the gates of Beval, against the full might of the Rebellion. A man standing eight foot tall and clad in golden armour that shined like the sun even in the night of the battle, he shrugged over every single attack by the Rebellion, even as the guildmasters and heroes fought against them.

Gladius, against all wishes by the Rebellion war command, charged and managed to get past Van Grant. Whatever happened next was only for the memories of the deceased hero and villain, but when the entire Rebellion saw the young hero leaping off the top of the palace, villain in tow, two lives ever bound by each other's actions would be ended in a final tale of the Rebellion.

The four Guilds, the leading powers in Beval and the kingdom, gave their blessing to Princess Lucrecia as the rightful heir of the throne the Rebellion championed as the true queen of Empora. The guildmasters of the Fighter's Guild, the Mage's Guild, the Healer's Guild and the Rogue's Guild, alongside the surviving heroes of the Rebellion, would crown her Queen Lucrecia I the Great.

The Golden Age of Empora would begin. But that is not the title of the story.

The Rebellion was two years ago.

It was the time for new heroes to make their mark on history. In a time of where the kingdom deserved a respite from the horrors of war, another evil would rise. One harder to see, and more insidious.

    This is....

    The Second Wind of Heroes

    ------

    Rules:

    1. Paragraph properly!

    2. Try to maintain good grammar and spelling standards.

    3. No signatures in the IC.

    4. It's okay to post short, if its a response to someone else's words where little action can, should or would be taken.

    5. If any characters get into a fight where there is no mutually acceptable conclusion to both RPers, I decide how it ends. I won't do anything (or try to do) you would completely dislike, though.

    Some info:

This is an RP about heroes. Our heroes. Mostly fresh, mostly wide-eyed adventurers who are seeking fame, fortune and the vanquishing of evil.

We can be almost anything we want, as long as we are not that powerful. (Or sparkling vampires.)

But in a world like this, characters matter more than plots. You must be willing:

    - To see your character change. In power, and as a person. They have friends, foes and old friends and foes. (We can always work out how your character develops via PM. Like how an old enemy of your character would act on the rest of the party.)
    - To see your character lose. And win.
    - To start off weak.
    - To perhaps, realise that some things cannot be changed.
    - To be willing to parody, pay tribute or homage to, or reference other content, or at least entertain the concept of others doing it.
    - This is not a sequel to any RP. It's a reboot of a previous RP that died.

The RP setting itself, called Gaea (duh, original much? ), is a medieval setting with a fantasy kitchen sink element to it. Some steam punk or slightly more anachronistic inventions are allowed, but should not be the norm. You may add other nations or places around the Kingdom of Empora, but none should be able to pose a threat to the Kingdom's independence.

We will be using a level system in this RP. Levels represent combat power (Healers also have combat power, since they have magic), and here's a rough breakdown on what each level means. (As another guideline, consider 3 levels in the RP as 1 DnD level.)

1-8: Civilians. Higher level civilians are generally just muscled thugs with no formal training.
9-12: Freshly trained soldiers, or other combat-oriented folks like mages.
13-18: Slightly experienced adventurers, very well-trained adventurers, or adventurers with natural talent. More experienced soldiers are of this level. Our characters should be of this level.

    .....

59-64: The guildmasters of the four guilds, and some veterans of the Rebellion are of this level.
61-68: Roughly the levels of the heroes. Queen Lucrecia (68), Ash Malrena (64), Isabela Sandiego (64), Damocles Eleison (66), Nagimatsu Mitsuba (67)
69-78: Of power enough to change courses of nations, win wars and destroy heroes. There are some of this level, but none of them are very public about it. It is believed that Kaganax and Gladius were roughly of this level.
79 onwards: This sort of character could wipe out Empora with a little bit of effort. No character, mortal, formerly mortal or immortal, of level 79 and above is involved in the affairs of this RP. 90 is the max level, but no one really knows that.

Levels are a rough guideline. A level 60 character can be defeated by a level 14 character if the level 14 character has significant advantages, and high levels can't really save someone from a stab in the heart, decapitation or the chunky salsa rule, unless they have transcended mortality.

This level is something that is accepted as a natural concept of the world. People can talk about levels and levelling up in-character, and wizards and/or people using magical items can detect the levels of others (Called 'scanning'.). Some wizards have found a way to fake higher or lower levels, but this skill is not always effective.
    Name:

    Age:

    Level: 13 to 18.

    Gender:

Race: (Anything goes, really. Except sparkling vampires. Just make sure you aren't powerful enough to invalidate everyone else.)

    Appearance: (Pictures, text, whatever.)

Fame: (What would a character say about themselves? What is their pre-existing reputation? What would you think if you saw them close-up?)

    Skills: (What can they do?)

    Inventory: (What do they have?)

    Misc:
On a side note, plan for the future. How do you want your character to develop? If it's in a way that'll involve other RP characters (likely), kindly PM me and tell me about it. We should be able to work it out in most cases.

    Name: Nowe Montford

    Age: 19

    Level: 17

    Gender: Female

Race: Cambion. As the offspring of an incubus and a human Nowe was supposedly gifted with an otherworldly beauty, capable of captivating others and bending them to her will. That never came to pass and instead Nowe went through life just looking like a normal human, albeit one with much fairer skin than everyone else.

Appearance: Nowe does not cut an imposing figure, standing at just above 1.52 meters. This has led to shock from others when she reveals her age, most believing her to be younger than she is; her older facial features would give this away had she not chosen to hide her face at all times. Nowe is rarely seen without her blue hooded cloak pulled over her head. The cloak itself only comes down to her lower back but it is the most striking thing about her attire. A few loose strands of white hair often poke through the small opening in the hood of the cloak.

In addition to the cloak, she wears especially light armor suited more for movement than combat. The armor is a dark purple in color except for her boots which are as blue as her cloak.

Fame: Nowe belonged to the Mage's Guild, or so she tells those who ask. She hides behind this claim as a means of instilling trust in others due to her naturally un-trusting appearance. Having severed ties with the Guild and taken the path of wandering, and coupled with her less-than-reputable interests, Nowe has a rather unkind reputation from the various people that have spent time with her. To their credit, Nowe does little to change their view. Trust is not something Nowe cares about, but when her services are needed she helps without question. And to her credit, Nowe has yet to betray a partner or group.

Skills: Nowe has knowledge of spells used primarily for destruction and death though not as capable as high ranking members within the Mage's Guild. Nowe is no slouch, though, and she does enjoy spells having to do with water. She is much more interested in learning what she can in the field of necromancy.

Inventory: Various tomes, none of them obtained through proper channels. She carries two small knives, not quite daggers, "for protection".

Misc: Has an almost unhealthy obsession with death and would just as soon sleep in a cemetery than an inn.

How dreamlike to see my x-sisters, outside the context of a Papa Song dome. They sang Papa Song’s Psalm, over and over; background hydraulics underbassed that sickening melody. But how jubilant they sounded! Their Investment was paid off. The voyage to Hawaii was under way, and their new life on Xultation would shortly begin... Watching them from the hangway, I envied their certainty about the future.

Is she still so undead-friendly? And does Micah have to blackmail/threaten her again?

    Name: 'Shogun'

Age: unknown presumed older than 50

Level: 17 When he was in his prime though right now he is actually around the [15] mark.

    Gender: Male

Race: Human, not from this land though.

    Appearance:
    Spoiler

Fame: Before he travelled to Empora he lived in a land of great war and he was one of the generals or 'Shoguns'. While still being a great tactician he also forged some of the armies weapons and gained a reputation for his swords being 'unbreakable'. He also lead his armies into battle and has gained a reputation for taking on many of the opposing armies men. But that was in his youth now he's a bit rusty and prefers to fight in a team.

    Skills:
    - Great Tactician
    - Can Fight with more than one weapon at a time(depending on weight)
    - Capable of taking on 2, maybe 3 enemies at a time
    - Can forge weapons.

    Inventory:
    - Two Katanas
    - A Gunbai
    - A Bo Staff

    Misc:
If you want the multiple enemies thing taken out I understand. Just say if you do.

Well, if you don't mind, PM me on any secret you intend to leverage on for your character. A character with such an air of mystery would likely have a lot of relevant secrets.

2 or 3 opponents at the same time should either be defeating those of below his level or at least holding out against those of about the same level. Is that okay?

Don't mind that he's foreign either. I expect the hero Nagimatsu Mitsuba to be from the same lands.

    I like the Shogun though.

She is still obsessed with the undead. As for the threatening, possibly. Though since there is no longer an undead among us (at least not yet) she may not introduce herself to the group with a knife drawn this time.

Maybe he or they could bribe her. Like, a piece of undead hair?

Yeah that's what I meant, it would be a bit strange if he could take on a bunch of people who were stronger than him haha. Also how many people do we need until an IC is made?

    That would certainly do it
