Jamie waited patiently for Austin to go get his things and his kitten. Lucy tried to converse with him every now and then, but Jamie was too busy thinking about what was going to happen in the next month, and in the end she got bored of talking to herself and went to sleep.

In the silence, Jamie began to think about the baby and Austin. He remembered how bad it was when Lucy was a baby. She woke up every two hours, at least, wanted feeding so often they would run out of milk, and if you didn't spend time with her twenty-four-seven she would cry until you did. But this was a doll! It couldn't possibly be that bad. Then something struck Jamie. What about school? What were they going to do during school time? Did they have to bring the kids with them? What happened when Jamie and Austin didn't have the same lessons together?

His thought train was broken when Austin got back with a decent sized bag, and his adorable kitten; Oreo. He moved the doll over for Austin to sit down, and helped his hold down both the kitten and baby.

"Ooh, a kittty!" Lucy squealed, trying to grasp the kitten. She woke up, hearing Austin slam the door of the car.

"Lucy, leave the cat alone, go back to sleep."

The toddler did as she was told and fell back asleep. Every now and then a small snore would escape from her mouth, and her head lulled to the sides every time the car went over a bump in the road.

The group arrived at Jamie's house at around six thirty. The sky was getting dark, but it made everything stand out. The lit up house looked beautiful during this time of day. Jamie pulled Lucy out of the car seat and grabbed his bag. He had to carry his sister into the house as she was unable to walk on her own legs, still falling asleep every now and then.

When they walked in, Jamie automatically took off his and Lucy's shoes and left them neatly on the shoe rack on the left side of the long glass corridor. Hanging Lucy's pink coat up, he turned to Austin.

"Just take your shoes off and put them on the rack, you can dump your bag in my room in a second."

He put Lucy down, and she toddled off into the big living room, and grasped the TV remote with her chubby hands. She had learnt how to turn on the TV and put on her favorite channel; the one that always had the Barbie shows on it.

"Right, Lucy, we're going upstairs, turn the TV down and don't make a mess. I'll make dinner around seven, and then it's play time okay? It's Friday today so you can stay up a bit later." He smiled at the little girl and left the living room.

"Shall we go upstairs? My rooms the first one on the left. Here, I'll hold the kid for you." He said, taking the baby from Austin's arms and letting the red head lead the way.

Austin managed to hold the kid while keeping Oreo calm. Surprisingly, he stayed calm when the toddler reached for him. "This is going to be one hell of a month." He rested his gaze out the window, memorizing the trip from his house to Jamie's. His mind then started to wander on how this partnership would work out. They didn't have all of the same classes, and he didn't know what Jamie's schedule was. Then they had school period...how was that going to look? Everyday, bringing a kid to school...This was horrible. Hopefully they would figure out a plan.

Seeing this house Austin sat up a little in awe, all of his thoughts being pushed aside for the moment. "Wow. Some place you got here." He had never been in a place so...fancy. "It's like the ones in the magazines and such." He got out of the car, slipping Oreo on his shoulder, though somehow managing to get on his head. He carefully held the kid, though either way it was uncomfortable due to fear of dropping him, and grabbed his bag. The school bags were left in the convertible to be picked up another time.

"Ha, I feel so out of place here." Austin slipped his scuffed black converse off his feet, and pushed them to the bottom rack. He stayed by the shoe rack for a second, unsure of whether to move into the house or not. It was weird. His entire apartment was probably as big the living room itself. He smiled softly as the adorable Lucy seemed to be a little more independent than she needed to be.
Seeing Jamie leave, Austin hurried to stay behind him. He didn't want to be in such a nice- yet foreign place all by himself. He wouldn't be able to manage. For some reason, Austin felt like he needed permission just to walk around. "Oh-yeah okay." He handed the doll to Jamie, more than relieved to know he didn't have to worry about dropping it.
'I feel like a dad, nervous to hold his own kid.'

The thought made his cheeks burn in embarrassment, hopefully Jamie didn't notice. It would only make this partnership weirder if they started claiming 'Mommy and Daddy' positions. Though, there was no way in hell he would be a mom. Seeing the door, he carefully pushed it open, moving like everything was fragile. "Sheesh." Austin looked around. "Well don't you live the luxurious life." He teased, and stood in the room still holding his bag and the kitten, waiting to be told where to put them.

Jamie climbed up the stairs, slowly, following Austin to his bedroom. It almost made Jamie chuckle the way Austin walked by everything as if it was glass. Hopefully if he stayed here longer he would get used to it. Since Jamie had lived here all his life, he was used to everything, and walked in like it was just an ordinary place.

"It's nothing big. You'll get used to it. I hope. You'll be feeling at home in no time.'

He sat on his bed, taking care not to drop the kid, and crossed his legs. Holding a plastic baby was weird. I mean, holding Lucy was fine, but not only this baby was his grade, project, and supposedly his own, it was made out of plastic. How freaky.

"You can just leave your bag on my desk chair, and the kitten can wander around, I'm sure it'll find our pets in no time. Don't worry, they're really kind." Jamie reminded again. He just hoped the pets weren't too hyperactive today and would scare Oreo away. That wouldn't be a very good start, now, would it?

"I don't know where to start, we sure need to determine a lot of things first." He stopped to think for a while. "Sleeping first. I can get you in one of the guest rooms upstairs, though they are on the other side of the house along with our lodging rooms... Or, you can sleep in my room. I can get a mattress, or..- no, never mind." He blushed a little at his thoughts. What was wrong with him today. He half wanted to laugh at himself and half wanted to cry of embarrassment.

"Your choice really." He left the options to Austin, awkwardly shifting in his place. It was a weird habit he had, and people could easily tell when he was embarrassed.

He waited for an answer and continued.

"Next, we have to decide on baby duties. In school I mean. I reckon we should swap every lesson. I just hope it won't take too long to find each other. Have you got a list of your classes? Ill give you mine later on. Also, I want to go shopping tomorrow. We need to get some baby things. You know, a toy cot, carrier, some nappies, clothes I guess. All Lucy had is pink princess things and as far as I'm aware this IS a boy..right?" He smiled.

Austin set his bag in the chair and the Oreo. At first the kitten just sat at his feet, until Austin gave him a gentle nudge with his foot. This was like giving him permission to leave, and Oreo was off to explore. "I hope I get use to it...I'd probably be paranoid I'm doing everything wrong if I didn't know you." He chuckled softly.

Austin rocked on his toes for a bit, and then decided to sit on the edge of the bed, opposite of Jamie. "Sleeping?" He listened to his options. Having one of the guest rooms seemed pretty decent, but if it was on the other side of the house:
One, Austin would get lost- he has no doubt about it. And two, what if the kid started crying at night?

"Um, well...I'd rather sleep closer. Be-Because the kid thing might wake up in the middle of the night, and I don't think it's pretty fair if you take on all the night responsibilities." Austin quickly explained his reason, and looked away.
When Austin was embarrassed or nervous, for some reason he'd run his fingers through his hair, which in that case he did. He noticed Jamie shifting and sighed gently. Well at least I'm not the only one nervous.

The next question made him raise an eyebrow and turn his head toward his partner. "Does the thing really need it?- All those toys and stuff? Sure clothes...but toys?" The thought giving a toy toys was pretty weird, but he would leave it up to Jamie. "And I don't even know what most of that stuff is." Austin admitted.

Then, Austin leaned back and laid on his back. He reached for the kid's arm and read the tag once more. "Yes. It has a blue tag and the name is Felix." Austin let go of the doll's arm and sat up.

    Thank you Lillian!
