Nightmare home (Me and Vena Sera IV)

    Scarlet-
Home. The word had a nice feeling to it- warm, inviting, something someone got sick for, and though Scarlet had never had never felt like she had a true home there was no doubt that she was excited for her first one.
Moving in with Aaron had been a dream of hers since the day she started dating him- marring him had seemed like such a fantasy that she couldn't even reach, but he had brought to life both dreams. The love she felt for this man was something that drove her crazy at times, yet she wouldn't give it up for the world, now moving in with him and becoming his bride it just seemed to her that she wouldn't have to give it up, for if worst came to worst she could always go home to her husband where he would be there to stand with her. Those feelings made her feel all warm inside, made her smile without any real reason.

Looking over at Aaron, then down at her hand with the new golden band on her ring finger, she sighed softly while fidgeting once again in her seat. They had been driving for quite some time, with every mile closer to the house. They had seen it online, brought it after Scarlet's foster parents went to check it out for her. They were pretty much her mother and father- they just hadn't signed the paper work yet.
Mr.Winslow, her foster father- who had been against the young lover's marriage at first- had told them the house would need some work here and there, but other than that the beautiful three story house was just right for them. It seemed that after awhile the thought of letting Scarlet start her own family grew on Mr.Winslow, while his wife had been happy for them from the beginning. Saving money for the house they decided not to have a wedding just yet, but that had been alright with Scarlet for she would rather have her man and a house rather than just a big party.

"How much longer?" She whined softly, looking out the window, her patients finally starting to break. One would have to give her credit for not asking for this long, though anyone could have told she was getting antsy. Nervous and excited all at once- it was signing the marriage papers all over again, though this time she couldn't be bouncing up and down.

((I'm so sorry about the bad starter DX I was being a bit rushed))

Finally on their way out to their first home, excited, nervous, curious, anxious, these were only a few things Aaron Summers was feeling right about now. No doubt his wife Scarlet was feeling much the same way, her small whine confirmed that. With a small laugh he reached over with one hand, keeping his eyes fixed on the road as he took her hand in his grasp. "Not much, I promise. If you keep this up you'll be tired before we even get there though." he teased, smiling over at her kindly. It had been love at first sight for them, not that either of them would know it at the time. Both seemed to be stuck in a plateau in their life, then along came the other and off like a rocket went their lives. Since meeting and dating for nearly two years it only made sense to tie the knot, after all they seemed made for one another. A wedding had been held off for just now, they wanted to settle down first. Scarlet certainly didn't seem to mind, in fact she jumped at the suggestion, which surprised him a bit.

"It's still early, so we can unpack at least some of our things when we get there. Then we can just relax. I don't know about you, but I could go for some food too." He grinned sheepishly, it seemed like he was constantly snacking at one point or another. He'd always been like that, picking at food constantly. Thanks to being rather active it didn't show, but it had come to a surprise to Scarlet when they first met. That and his love for music. Most people enjoy listening to a band here or there, but Aaron was almost a musical encyclopedia. Ask him almost anything and he could tell you about it, he lived for it. Well, he used to anyways, now he lived for his beloved wife, and couldn't be happier. With a pleased smile on his face he brought his wife's hand to his lips, kissing it lightly before stroking it with his thumb. "I'll even cook, my treat."

Scarlet laughed at his comment on wanting food, feeling a little at ease, not as nervous for a split second. It was just the realization that though these two big things were happening in their lives he was still the same Aaron- music loving, food craving Aaron who loved her, and she was still little Scarlet- writer and artist. With the new house and marriage came the sudden realization that dreams really could come true for her, which made her want to work even harder at writing that novel or children's book; which she of course would add her own artwork to.
Really, everything seemed to be falling into place, and with the sudden calming of nerves Scarlet realized she was hungry as well. Sadly, Scarlet was the kind who would forget to eat, so it was kind of good to have an over eater with her. Smiling softly she kissed his hand right back before saying "Food does sound good. Maybe we can try and cook something." The kitchen stuff wasn't going to be hard to find, Scarlet remembered loading it near the door of the truck. Packing hadn't been hard at all, seeing as how the two didn't have a whole ton of stuff, but it did fill up a moving truck.

"So what should we unpack first?" Scarlet's attention was suddenly turned away from the conversation she started when up ahead she spotted the house. Excitement came back as she sat up, looking out the window while still holding Aaron's hand. "Look! There it is! Our house, look at it." Our house. Scarlet couldn't help but smile brighter.

Aaron laughed a bit watching his eccentric wife, one of the many traits about her he loved. Anytime she got excited it became visible in both her speech and movements, it was adorable to watch. Sure enough there was their home, slowly pulling into the driveway he took a moment to simply look at it. It was a fixer just like her father had said, but already it had a sort of homey vibe to it. He didn't know the answer to her question quite yet, they had not been inside the house at all and he was eager to see what it looked like in person. "I think we should just go take a look around, sound good to you?" The house certainly had possibilites, with as many rooms as it had they could do nearly anything with it. Plus it had a yard, plenty of space for improvements. Already he was thinking about what they might do with it. It was almost alien to him though, owning a house, they had always shared an apartment and until recently Scarlet's parent's home.

Stepping out of the truck he stretched with a slight groan, it had certainly been a long ride here. Finally at their destination though he was nearly as excitable as his wife was, doing his best to simply not run inside. The exterior seemed fine to him as it was, painted a light beige color with red trimming on the porch, it was pleasant to look at. Aside from the house was a large oak tree in the front, it's branches leaning out over the road and casting a shadow. The yard itself wasn't overly large, though they had neighbors on both sides, hopefully with children. The house was on a relatively quiet street, it seemed like an ideal place to raise a family. "Scarlet! I'll meet you inside okay?" Eagerness getting the better of him he walked up to the steps, using his key to unlock the door and step into the foyer. A staircase ran along the wall to his right, winding upstairs around the corner. To his left was what appeared to be a dining room, judging by the hanging light on the ceiling, and to the right a study, empty bookshelves lining the wall. So far it looked very nice, he was pleased with their purchase.

"Well wait for me!!" Aaron ran off into the house without her, making her pout slightly as she fought with her seatbelt. It seemed to be stuck for a moment, so as she fought with it she glanced at the beautiful house and saw something up in the attic window for a split second. Stopping for a moment she watched the window, feeling a chill run down her spine, but she quickly ignored the feeling, scolding herself for being so childish again; there was nothing in the window.

Scarlet had always been, well, a scaredy cat. Hated to be alone, hated the dark, hated the night and though she liked paranormal shows she always had nightmares afterwards- she hated that about herself. How silly she was to fear things that everyone reassured her weren't real, though the thing was she believed it was real, and when alone her creative imagination got the better of her at times. However, she vowed to herself as she finally got out of the car that she wouldn't think of such things. She was a married woman with a house now, she was a grownup! She couldn't be afraid of her own shadow when alone at night, she would have to get over it. Nodding in agreement with herself she looked back at the house and smiled, this time feeling warm again as well as excited.

Running inside of the house she stopped to look around before wondering off to just explore, walking past Aaron a few times. There was just so much to take in that Scarlet start to run around the house, looking quickly at each room and seeing what things were there. Soon she was up the steps and looking at the bedrooms- especially at the master bedroom.
Remembering the first time she slept in the same bed as Aaron made her giggle to herself. It had been at his apartment, where she decided she was just to tired and it was to late for Aaron to take her home. When he had told her he would let her sleep over she was excited, but didn't realize he meant in the same bed with him. Oh how nervous she was sleeping with someone, unsure if something was going to happen or not, but of course she had been nervous over nothing like usual and now she was so comfortable with it that she couldn't imagine not having him next to her to cuddle with at night.

Closing up those memories once more she ran down the steps, finding Aaron before tackling him into a hug. "The house is wonderful! It's so big!"

Aaron stepped out of the kitchen, pleased with the slated countertops and relatively new cabinets. The floor might be a little worn but overall it seemed fine, as did the rest of the first floor. Maybe a new coat of paint here and there, a few buffings and the house would look good as new. That was neither here nor now, there'd be time for that later. Right now he was just happy to finally be here, relax a little. Hearing running he turned around, grinning as Scarlet jumped him and grabbed him in a hug. Laughing he returned it wholeheartedly, hugging her back and stealing a kiss on her cheek. "I'm glad you like it hon, this is going to be great!" With a wide smile he took one of his wife's hands in his, stepping out to the front door and looking at the truck contemplatively.

"What should we unpack first? Think the beds maybe, decide what bedroom we want?" He didn't care what they did at this point, they were finally home. He'd sleep on the floor if it came to it, so long as they were together. He gently pulled his wife along as they went out to the truck, letting go of her hand only to open the back of the truck. All of their belongings, however few they had, were stashed in the back of the truck. He wasn't sure what he could grab first, or what he even should. Instead he looked to his wife hopefully, hoping she had planned this far ahead, because he sure as heck didn't.

"Let's bring in the kitchen stuff first. That way you can cook us some dinner." Really all they had at the moment was ramen for him to cook, but that was better than nothing. With a heave-ho Scarlet picked up one of the boxes with plates and dishes. "Grab that box there; it should have the food inside. Then we could maybe get the beds or something." If they were lucky they would at least get the mattresses so they could sleep on them. Already it was starting to get a bit dark, they had been driving so long, but after a bit unpacking they would probably fall right asleep.
Sleep sounded nice to Scarlet, even though she hadn't done anything but sit down all day. It had been the excitement that wore her out, and now that they were home she couldn't wait to have her first night in the house with her husband.

Not waiting for Aaron she walked down the truck, into the house, and set the box on the counter before opening it. Carefully pulling things out she set them on the counter as she waited for Aaron.

Smiling proudly Aaron grabbed a hold of the box of food, not minding that their diet for the next week would be mostly ramen, bread and peanut butter. It'd be a little while until he was cooking hot meals again unfortunately, but they had something, plus they could always go out and eat. He set the box down for a moment to take out a card table and some folding chairs, their makeshift dining set for the time being. Setting those by the steps for now he brought the box inside, opening it up and sorting out the contents on the countertop contently. "Maybe I'll find some kind of spices or something, make this a bit more interesting than plain old Ramen. Of course, we can keep it simple too if you want." Always playing with his food, in the sense he was constantly trying new things. Some good, some... Not so much, he had a passion for it that Scarlet knew well, perhaps from working as a cook for so many years before his newest job.

"I set the card table and chairs by the steps hon, if you want to get those I'll bring in the mattresses and the bedsheets." Stealing a kiss on her cheek the eager husband near ran out the door again, coming to a stuttering halt as he got to the back of the truck. After moving around a few boxes here and there he managed to get their fairly new king sized mattress out, leaning it up against the side of the truck. Maybe they'd just put it down in the living room for now, it was getting late and he really didn't want to deal with the hassle of dragging it up the flight of stairs. He paused as he went to grab the mattress again, getting the odd feeling of someone watching him. With a small frown he looked around, not seeing anyone he shrugged it off. Perhaps a neighbor had been taking a peek and had hid, he wasn't going to pry.

Scarlet decided that wouldn't be so bad- let the man of the house do the heaving lifting. Giggling softly to her own thoughts she watched as Aaron rushed out before heading out of the kitchen herself. Bringing the table and such into the kitchen and setting them up she decided that Aaron's idea of spicing up the ramen was a good idea. So far she had liked the idea of living with a cook. . .even if his experiments didn't always turn out that great.
"Guess it's better than starving." She shrugged to herself, stepping back to look at her handy work of setting up things. Nodding in a satisfied way she turned around, ready to unpack the last few little things out of the kitchen boxes, but realized the cabinet doors were open. Standing there Scarlet went thought the chain of events, swearing she had closed them.
"I suppose I didn't." Sighing to herself she closed them, feeling as though she was already losing her head. No, no she wasn't losing her head- it was just because she was tired. Smiling to herself she went to see if Aaron needed help with the mattresses and such. "I'll get the bedsheets and pillows." Walking past Aaron she went to the truck, grabbing the space bag they had used to put their bedding in. By the time she got them all Aaron had gotten the bed in the house.

"Alright, I don't know about you but I could really use some food now." Her stomach growled in agreement, making her laugh as she gently gave her tummy a soft pat.

Joining in with a small laugh Aaron gave a nod of agreement, he was just as hungry as his wife. "Sure thing Scarlet, one Chef Aaron special coming up!" With a smirk he fished in one of the various boxes for a pot, after getting one of a decent size bringing it to the sink and filling it with water. With it nearly filled he set it on the oven, turning the burner on. "I'm not even sure what we have for spice, so it might just be plain anyways." After getting out two packets of Ramen he set the noodles in the simmering water, knowing it would take a bit of time for it to boil. In the meantime he figured he'd bring more boxes in, setting the remaining noodles back in the box before heading for the door. At the back of the truck he looked over the items inside, what would they need for tonight? Perhaps their bathroom supplies would be a good start. They were in a small plastic container, easy to carry so he grabbed another box with some clothing inside.

"Hey hon, I'm going to put our stuff in the bathroom okay? Just turn down the heat if the water starts to boil too much." he called from the doorway. The bathroom itself was only just by the front door, underneath the stairwell infact. Flicking on the light he opened the medicine cabinet above the sink, taking out their various bottles and setting them inside. After the cabinet was filled he set the shampoos, soaps and other various things either on the shower shelves or underneath in the cabinet, it didn't really matter where everything went right now. Satisfied that the bathroom goods had been put away he turned to leave, stopping in his tracks as he passed the mirror. Something out of the corner of his eye had caught his attention, turning to the mirror he saw there was nothing there. They'd been up for nearly 20 hours at this point, he was probably seeing things and just needed some sleep. After they ate a nap may not be such a bad idea for both of them.
