A bright red mustang roared through the parking lot of Cibola High school, pulling into the closest spot Luke could find. He looked into his rear view mirror as he examined his face for a moment before flashing himself a soft smirk. It was just another day to play the jock football player. He spotted his girlfriend Brittney in the court yard of the school, looking for him as usual. He quickly grabbed his backpack from the passenger seat and leaped out of the mustang gracefully. He slung his bag over his shoulder as he made a beeline for Brittney, ignoring the usual pair of eyes following him.

The thing most people in the school didn't know was that Luke was a vampire. Of course his best friend Devin was too. Living two completely different life styles. He didn't know why Devin went to school like a normal human but it helped Luke feel more human. He didn't entirely enjoy being a vampire. The strength and good looks were a bonus but knowing he drains the life force out of humans just sickened him. A choice he made, a choice he would have to live with for the rest of his life.

Brittney huffed lightly as she rocked on her feet waiting for Luke and Devin. She was always waiting, being head cheerleader meant she had to be at school am hour early. She watched as student began to quickly fill into the school. A few of her friends stopping to gossip with her as she waited for Luke. Then it finally happened, she saw Luke heading his way towards her. Brittney quickly looked at her friends "Hold the stories you guys. Luke is coming, I'll catch you guys later!" She quickly dashed around her friends and ran towards Luke. She knew her friends were rolling their eyes and talking about her, but if they only knew.

She had just found out a few months ago that both Luke and Devin were vampires. Sending her world upsides own. Now she has come to terms with it and was on a misson. Luke was going to turn her into a vampire, one way or another. It had to be Luke though, no one else. She was willing to throw her life away but he wouldn't do it. Maybe she could have Devin help convince him? As the thought crossed her mind she flashed an innocent smile "Morning Luke! How are you?" She kissed him gently on the lips. She watched as Luke smiled softly, shaking his head at her as if to answer her question. She crossed her arms as she pouted.

Devin Reagan woke up, like he did every morning. Was sleep necessary? No, but he did enjoy it. Made him feel human again. Devin woke up earlier then most, mainly for his morning feedings. Early hikers were usually his first choice, either that or animal blood. In all honesty, animal blood just wasn't as good as fresh human blood. After he fed from a middle-aged man and compelled him to forget, healing the wound, he headed back home to shower and get ready for school.

After cleaning up, Devin put on some dark jeans and a white t-shirt, covering it with a black leather jacket. He ran his fingers through his hair and grabbed the keys to his motorcycle. After putting on his helmet (he still had to follow street rules), he grabbed up the keys to his Harley Davidson motorcycle and grabbed his bag for school. He then straddled his motorcycle and started it up, reeving the engine. He was then speeding down the highway to Cibola High School.

When getting there, Devin parked by Luke's mustang. He always had a fondness for his car. Unlike him, Luke had money. The motorcycle was the most expensive thing Devin had ever bought in decades, and he was over 700 years old. He was never the guy that was all about money, though. After he parked, Devin turned off his motorcycle and hopped off, putting the keys in his pocket and helmet hanging over the handle. He easily spotted Luke and Brittany all over each other, which caused him to his eyes. He wanted to be with Brittany, but she was with Luke, which was his best friend. The situation wasn't easy for him. Sucking it up, he walked towards them with a fake smile on his face. "Hey." He said, eyes flickering over to Brittany for a brief moment.

The first day. Karah combed through her dark hair as she stared at her reflection. Ivory skin, emerald eyes, sensuous lips, she didn't find anything special about herself. Her parents said making friends were easy, but this was the third time in two years they have moved somewhere different, and it wasn't that easy to her. She had picked out a floral print dress, white leather jacket, and white sandals for the day.

After getting dressed, she straightened her hair and then pulled it into a low side ponytail. After putting on some blush, adding a little color to her ivory skin, Karah was ready to go. She grabbed her white bag, grabbed an apple, and got into her white Pontiac. After starting it up, Karah drove to her new school, which wasn't too difficult to find. Once getting there, she parked and got out. People were scattered all over outside the school building. She started towards the front door and noticed three friends- two males and a female, dressed in a cheerleading outfit, talking to each other. The one holding hands with the cheerleader really caught her eyes.

Luke smiled towards Devin as he lifted his hand, smacking it against Devins as his usual greeting towards his friend. He laughed lightly and pushed Devin playfully "Still driving that peice of garbage you call wheels?" He asked playfully. He was always giving Devin a hard time about his money situation. It wasn't exactly hard for a vampire to get ahold of money, for some reason though Devin didn't. Just then Brittney called to Devin and Luke saw a girl just a bit back behind Devin. He had never seen the girl before. Every girl in the school had always made a point to talk to him, and he had a good memory. She had to be new.

Luke wasn't paying attention to what Brittney was talking to Devin about. He flashed a smile towards the girl and small wave. He then quickly turned towards Brittney "Hey Britt! You said you were looking for more cheerleaders right?" He asked a little too excitedly. He didn't know why he was so excited but wasn't doing anything to hide it.

Brittney rolled her eyes at Lukes childish behavior. She then turned towards Devin and smiled "Deving, just ignore him. I rather like your bike." She said as she looked up at Luke, but he wasn't paying attention any more. This was her moment, she quickly looked back at Devin "Hey Devin, can we talk later? There's something I need help with." She said softly. She knew vampires had expremely good hearing and she didn't want Luke to catch on but luckily Luke didn't seem to be paying attention to the two of them. Brittney flashed an innocent smile towards Devin.

Just then Luke suddenly turned towards her acting excited all of a sudden. She raised an eyebrow towards him "Um...yeah. We have positions open since the seniors last year graduated." She said. Just then she felt Like wrap a strong arm around her shoulders and shift her effortlessly to face towards a girl. "Ask her to try out! She seems promising." She could hear Luke suddenly ask. Brittney glared at Luke "What?! Why would I do that? Who is she?" She asked darkly towards Luke. She watched as Luke rolled his eyes "Come on Britt! She's new she doesn't know about the tryouts. Come on, be nice. Just trying to help my girl out." He said as she felt his fingers curl gently around her chin lifting her head back before kissing her quickly. Brittney sighed softly as she rolled her eyes "Alright, alright....I'll invite her to tryouts." She said softly.

Devin returned the greeting, but rolled his eyes at Luke. "Hey, don't diss my ride. We all can't afford fancy and flashy red cars." He said with a low chuckle. He noticed the new girl, but didn't pay much attention to her. He noticed how Luke's attitude changed quickly though when he laid eyes on her. Devin shook his head. Always checking other girl's out. He had better thankful Brittany didn't really notice it too much.

He looked over at Brittany and nodded. "She might do good on the team. She's a looker." He said with a lopsided grin. When Brittany asked if they could talk later, he gave her a small nod. He felt good inside she didn't diss her motorcycle, it was one of the most valuable things he owned. The bell soon rang, signaling school starting. Sighing, Devin walked beside Luke and Brittany.

Karah has blushed when she caught the football player's wave. Had he actually noticed her? She wasn't use to that. She went into the main office to get her locker information and directions to all her classes. "May I help you?" A woman asked, narrow glasses barely fitting on her large nose. She had grey hair pulled back into a tight bun, dressed in dark browns and green. "Yes, I'm new. My name is Karah." She said. The woman typed something into the computer and handed Karah a few pieces of paper.

She then handed Karah a smaller piece. "Get your teachers to sign this paper in each class, and bring it back here at the end of the day." Karah nodded, taking the paper. She went to her first class, skipping going to her locker. She didn't have a lot of supplies yet, she'd have to go shopping tomorrow. Taking a seat in the back after getting the slip signed, she looked around at all the other people talking and chatting. God how she hated being the new girl

Luke quickly took hold of Brittneys hand when the bell rang. He always walked her to class, even though they didn't have the same home room. As they walked down the hallway he flashed smiles towards passing girls, causing them to go in fits of giggles. He then suddenly felt something sharp go into his rib. When he looked down he saw Brittney glaring darkly at him. He rolled his eyes as they arrived to her class. Before letting her go he quickly pulled her into him, pulling her into a tight hug. "Hey don't worry baby. They aren't nothing to me." He then leaned down and planted a kiss against the side of Brittneys neck before whispering softly "I bet their blood doesn't taste as good as yours."

Luke then staightened up and planted another kiss on Brittneys forehead. He gave her one last reassuring smile before heading down for his own classroom. Luke knew that Brittney couldn't resist him, just as he couldn't help that he was good looking. He wasn't the kind of guy to just brush off girls. It had gotten him the title of being a player in school but that was the fun in it. Plus it was pretty fun to watch Brittney get mad over such little things. He went to school to be more human but also to have fun.

Brittney smiled as Luke took her hand. That was until she saw him flashing his smile towards every girl they passed. She felt the jealousy boil within her. Why did he always have to do that and right in front of her? She growled lower as she quickly shoved her elbow into his side. Of course she didn't really expect him to be scared. He was a vampire after all, he could just easily get rid of her if he really wanted to. But he didn't, he hardly got mad at her either. Only when she bigger him to change her. Why wouldn't he change her? He and Devin were vampires so why couldn't she be? Maybe he didn't want to really be with her the way she wanted to be with him.

Just as doubts began to fill her mind she felt Luke pull her in. Her eyes widened when she felt his cool lips against her neck. She glanced around nervously to see if anyone was watching. Of course they were. He was kissing her neck right in the middle of the hallway. She blushed deeply as she heard his words, quickly looking towards Devin for help. Though she knew he wouldn't step in between them. She was about to tell Like that he could only drink from her if he promised to change her. Though before she could Luke planted a kiss on her forehead and was down the hall. She sighed softly before glancing towards Devin. She cleared her throat nervously as she brushed a few strans of hair behind her ear "Um...so can we talk at lunch? Without Luke?" She asked softly.

Devin secretly rolled his eyes as he walked behind them. Why did Luke always get the girl? Devin could hear what Luke was saying to her and he snorted to himself. If there was thing he knew about Luke was he loves the ladies. Devin looked over to see Luke give Brittany a secretive kiss on the neck before heading to homeroom. Seeing the two disgusted him, and not because he wanted Brittany for himself, but because Luke didn't really deserve a girl like her.

He looked back up as Brittany spoke to him. Had she asked to hang out and talk? Without Luke? Not sure what to say, Devin just nodded. He gave her a friendly hug before going to his own homeroom as she went into the one they already were at. He sat down in the back row, where he normally sat, his eyes staring down at the desk, with his notebook and pen.

Karah looked up to see the pretty cheerleader talking to, not the football player, but his friend. The two were real close together. Was there some kind of love triangle going on? Karah snapped her head back to the front as the cheerleader walked in the same room she was in. The final bell rang. Her homeroom teacher, Mr. Bates, started to take roll. He finished just in time as the announcements came on over the intercom. They were having stu surprise for lunch and she frowned. School lunches never seemed to get better.

They had fifteen minutes to socialize and do whatever until it was time to go to first period. While everyone was up and talking, moving around the room, Karah was left in her seat. Alone.

Brittney leaned back against her chair, twirling a stran of her hair around her finger. She sighed softly as she looked around, ignoring the chatter around her. Brittneys eyes stopped when she saw Karah. Both Luke and Devin said she should have her try out. She couldn't help but roll her eyes, sure she wasn't bad looking but cheer leading wasn't just about looks. Sure they helped, but she wanted to win the Nataional Cheerleading compitition before she graduated. She sighed softy as she stood up. It would hurt to give the girl a chance at least.

Brittney walked over to Karahs seat, placing her hands on her hips "Uh...hi. My names Brittney and my boyfriend and his friend wanted to let you know Cheerleading tryouts are today after school. If you're interested." She said rather boredly. Why was Luke so persistent on having the girl join? Sure he flirted a lot but never really shown any real interest in other girls before. Already she felt the anger build up towards this girl. She pressed her lips together into a thin line before speaking again. "I don't usually invite people to tryouts. Usually they have to figure it out by the board for themselves. So consider yourself lucky I am even doing this."

Karah looked up as the pretty cheerleader came up to her. Why was she talking to her? "Karah." She introduced. The girl was pretty, no doubt. When she asked about cheerleading tryouts, Karah just nodded. "Sure. I was a cheerleader at my old school. I love it." She said. Karah stood up when the bell rang. "I guess I'll see you this afternoon." She said before walking past the girl and out of the classroom.

The rest of the day went by quick for Karah. She liked all her classes and had made a few friends. Luckily, she had gym clothes with her. When the time got closer for tryouts, she change into black spandex shorts and a white t-shirt, slim fitting. She was tying her tennis shoes when a girl walked out, apparently sad. "Are you okay?" Karah asked, walking up to her. She nodded. "Yes.. I didn't make the team. Brittany didn't like how I looked or something." She said softly.

Karah watched the girl walk off. She took in a breath before walking in the gymnasium. "Hi, I'm Karah Burrows and I'd like to try out for the team." She said. She nodded to the person in charge of the CD player. An upbeat dubstep song. Karah started to move rhythmic to the beat, doing flips and ending the song with the splits, her arms up in the air.

She stood back up, hands on her hips. "So?" She asked, trying to catch her breath.

Brittney watched Karah carefully, trying to look for any mistakes that could disqualify her from joining the team. Her lips pursed into a thing line when she couldn't find anything. It was true the girl had some moves, and could really help their team out. She just couldn't get last how excited Luke had got about her joining, even Devin said it was a good idea. She looked down at the tryout sheet, most of the girls trying out had already gone and didn't make it. They needed at least four people. Maybe she could change her mind about some of the others. Though that would send them behind, trying to get some of the other girls up to the level they were at. A lot of them had no coordination. She sighed as she opened her mouth to speak when he suddenly felt some arms around her.

Luke smiles as he quickly wrapped his arms around Brittney. Football practice had finished early, though the ither player were worn out he seemed perfectly fine, not one drop of sweat could be seen. He smiled towards Karah "Hey! She's good!" He said towards Brittney. He could feel her stiffen in his arms, causing him to chuckle softly. He then kissed Brittneys cheek "Aw come on babe let her on the team. It's not like she's replacing you, just helpin you get to the top." He said softly. He looked towards Karah a wink before looking back at Brittney. He watched she did her typical eye roll before sighing and saying "Fine, she can join." Luke smiled happily and kissed Brittney quickly. He then let Brittney of out his grasp, smiling towards Karah. "Congrats new girl. You made the team. Don't let Brittney kill you." He laughed as he felt Brittney hit him on his shoulder pad.
